Babbo vs. Del Posto

Del Posto!

NYC Hounds in DC!

Thanks! The two year old will only be joining us for 1 meal (whew!).

Next question - Obelisk or Fiola??

NYC Hounds in DC!

Okay, have Blue Duck Tavern and Obelisk booked for dinner and Rasika for a lunch :)

Is Mourayo any good for a dining with a 2 year old option? We really don't have any great greek food in NYC, so it could be a good option if "chow approved", haha.

Also looking for great brunch options for Saturday?

NYC Hounds in DC!

Which of any of the recommended restaurants would be able to accommodate a 2 year old dining with us? I just found out about this addition ;) Would Equinox be an okay fit?

Also, does Obelisk have a website?

Komi seems amazing, haven't been able to get them on the phone. I wonder if they will cater to a vegetarian?

Eve looks fantastic as well (and vegetarian friendly!) but it is 20 minutes away from where we are staying :(

NYC Hounds in DC!

Thanks, I have a lot to work with here, much appreciated!

I already snagged a ressie at Rasika (albeit a late one)!

I'd love to try Fiola but the menu looks a little limited for me (being vegetarian). If it is as good as everyone is saying, I can try to make it work.

Blue Duck Tavern in our hotel is also supposed to be quite good from what I am hearing...

Getting excited!

Williamsburg?

Venturing out of Manhattan and looking for a fun/relaxed place for dinner on a Friday night in Williamsburg - preferably somewhere that can take reservations.

1 vegetarian, 1 pesce-tarian in the group, any type of cuisine is okay.

I was looking into Isa but the menu might be too limited for us given the food restrictions.

Any help is appreciated!

NYC Hounds in DC!

I was trying to be nice and yes, I have heard that there are a few gems.

Indian food in NYC. Is it worth trying? If so, which one?!

Tamarind Tribeca is IMO, the best Indian in the city.

NYC Hounds in DC!

I am actually open to all options, price points, and neighborhoods. Generally just looking for a place to begin my foodie research since I've heard so many good things about the dining scene in D.C. :)

Off the top of my head, my right now list for NYC would include: Red Barn, Parm, Miss Lilys, Don Antonio which I am trying tomorrow and Tertulia which I am trying on Sunday :)!

My don't miss list would include: ABC Kitchen, Ippudo and Ai Fiori

I wish there were "like" buttons on Chowhound :)

East Hampton Eats?

Thanks, most of that thread was about the North Fork and I will be staying in East Hampton on the South Fork. I don't want to stray too far from that area - will be getting around mainly by bicycle!

Looking for favorite foodie shops, bars, restaurants and hidden gems.

I know there is a cute cheese shop in town - Lucy's Whey.

Thanks so much :)!

East Hampton Eats?

Gearing up for some fun in the sun in East Hampton!!

Any hound worthy restaurants in town or nearby?

NYC Hounds in DC!

Planning a trip to DC in April. I have no idea where to begin...can we start with the "don't misses" and "right nows"?

Theater district lunch..

Great, I'm psyched to try it :)!

Good delivery options in Greenwich Village?

I find that Bare Burger (on LaGuardia) is much better when you actually eat there, but still will get delivery sometimes.

Other places we've tried:

Indian Creperie was good for awhile but had it today and it was almost inedible.

I find Cafe El Portal to be pretty okay for Mexican

Joes Pizza is pretty damn good for delivery.

Cho Cho San is decent for sushi.

I tried to talk Taiim into delivering lunch today but they wouldn't ;(

Frankies is a good idea, I might try them next time :)

Any new suggestions? I feel like we are in the black hole of delivery options!

LA choices for NY foodies

We ended up at Picca and sat at the chefs counter where we could see all the action (and stay warm by the stove!). It was very good but didn't blow us away. The cooked dishes and skewers (especially the fish skewers) were the favorite of the group, while the fresh fish dishes were pretty flavorless. I really loved locro de quinoa - my fav. of the evening - along with the pisco sour :)

The second night we were at Red Medicine with the big group. This dinner wowed everyone and the vegetable dishes were fantastic. The porridge was a big hit with the vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Service was fantastic. I found it so interesting that by 11PM the place was dead.

Breakfast was at the hotel, and 1 sushi lunch at Kiriko which I reviewed on another post. Overall lots of great eating for a 2 day stay in LA! Thanks for all the help, much appreciated :)

A gift of cognac

I ended up with the Pierre Ferrand Selection des Anges Cognac Grande Champagne. We tried it last night and it was very good. Definitely not as good as the Louis XIII, but better than any XO we have had.

BEST SUSHI in LA...

We sat at the sushi bar, I had made a reservation in advance. They did not have a veggie omakase, I ordered off the menu. At first they were not okay with it, saying that if one of us wanted the omakase we all had to order it, but after a little prodding they finally said it was okay :)

Theater district lunch..

I've been wanting to try Don Antonio, thanks for reminding me that it's in the area!! I see that it opens at 12:00 which is when we would need to eat to make the show on time. I'm assuming they don't take reservations?

BEST SUSHI in LA...

We ended up at Kiriko and it was great! We went with 2 friends from LA and we all left super happy and satisfied. There was a delicious spinach and mushroom salad for me, shisito peppers, edamame, vegetable rolls, red miso soup...and homemade ice cream with berries. Hubs was in heaven and thought the fish was very fresh. His only comment was that there were many cooked pieces and a few more tricks, sauces, etc, and he does prefer straight up traditional sushi. The fact that we could all eat together was what made it the best and right choice for us. He also thought it was a bit over priced but we did do the the Kiriko omakase. If any other vegetarians are reading this, I must admit I had to excuse myself when they ripped the live shrimp heads off! Thanks so much for all of the help, we did thoroughly enjoy the meal :)

Theater district lunch..

Looking for a more than decent pre-theater lunch near W 47th b/w 8th & 9th.

Any suggestions aside from John's Pizza are much appreciated!!

A gift of cognac

Need to get this today so any advice would be appreciated!

A gift of cognac

All I know is that he had had and loved Louis XIII, haha :)

LA choices for NY foodies

I'm not feeling a lot of love for Picca on this board...thoughts?

A gift of cognac

Okay, here is what I was able to find:

Pierre Ferrand - Selection des anges - $124.99
Delamain Vesper Grande Champagne Cognac - $139.99
Hine Antique XO Cognac - $129.99

Top choice?

LA choices for NY foodies

Out of curiosity, how is the food at Spago??

BEST SUSHI in LA...

You guys are the best, thank YOU! I will stay away from Sugarfish. I think Kiriko is gonna be it b/c I don't want to sit outside on the curb while hubs enjoys his omakase at Mori, haha.

As far as sushi snobbery goes, hubs would not bring me to Yasuda b/c he had his preferred seat at the bar and mentioned once to Yasuda-San that I didn't eat fish...and the answer was not pretty!

A gift of cognac

Thanks for all the help :)

I'm been looking for other specialty shops to look in in NYC. Besides the Brandy Library I haven't been able to come up with much. Maybe I can get to Chambers St. this week to investigate further.

Would the consensus say to go with something reliable like the Pierre Ferrand or something like the Dudognon NV Cognac Heritage?

BEST SUSHI in LA...

I really appreciate all of help :)

A friend of mine just suggested Sugarfish. I tried to look up the menu, which states that you CAN order ala cart, but it's not coming up...
