Fogo de chao? Your opinions please!
I've had dinner at the one in Houston. I'm amazed at the huge portions they serve. No wonder why Ameican's are so overweight! It was good, but I just can't eat that much.
What's the deal with everyone complaining about the prices? You get what you pay for.
Austin - April 23-29 - Cheap Eats?
What does "not have a lot of money" mean? $10-$12.00 per head?
Guero's, Manuel's, (both authentic Mexican), Moonshine (southern), Champs (sports bar in the Marriott downtown). All will give you about $10.00-$18.00 per head.
In the downtown area, this would be about it for "cheap" eats. The other suggestions will require a car and a drive. Downtown area is walkable, which is what I'm suggesting. Good luck!
One dinner in Austin, where to go
Vivo's on Manor Rd, the healthiest Mexican you can have. They offer vegetarian enchiladas. Another GREAT option is East Side Cafe, just down the block. Also everything from Veggie to steak. Prices are very resonable!
Who serves a good black & blue steak in Austin?
Eddie V's, and Truluck's..........and of course iii Forks...........all of them know exactly how to cook a steak to perfection!
Lambert's in Austin
Went last night.......great baby Boar ribs....hot mustard sauce.......japaleno sausage was not that hot, and good, and the hanger steak with fried egg was great!!!
It's more "upscale" bbq rather than just the bbq you get at Rudy's or County Line.......note**if you sit outside, they have not heaters; as it was windy and cold last night. They do take reservations, and they have live music daily upstaris.
It's worth a visit!!
III Forks (AUS)
I've been twice to iii Forks and it's excellent!!!!
The first time I arranged a private room for a birthday celebration. The owner, (Curtis Osmond) hostesses, and the waiter were all excellent in keeping the dinner a secret.
Went 2 nights ago for my birthday, and the meal was still incredible! Kudos to everyone at the Austin location as they do a great job!!!!
Bess
I have the bess steak frite and the salmon. The taste was good, but not outstanding. The best item was the salmon. Yes, it was my first visit. I thought the low ceilings were not particularly inviting, and it was loud; and not very full.
Cibo?
I was looking at Cibo's menu on line and I don't understand where fish can be $45.00-$65.00?? Please someone explain.
Thanks,
Bess
I went last night for dinner. Atmosphere is okay, and the food was good, but not what I would expect from a person who has the world at her fingertips; i.e. amazing chefs, fantastic selections of wines, etc.........there was nothing that would draw me back. Our waiter was kind of scurrilous when we asked him a question, he said "no", and walked off. Not very customer service orientated I'm afraid.
In a nutshell, Bess is okay, but not outstanding.
