Barbounia or Kellari's Parea for dinner

Thanks for the comments Simon. Doesn't have to be Greek but I don't want to spend $100pp. Since you're in the neighborhood, what do you think of Veritas? Or instead of Craft, Craftbar?

Barbounia or Kellari's Parea for dinner

I've had lunch at both but not dinner. Going with parents at 6 PM tomorrow night. Which has the better food? I want to stay in the FlatIron neighborhood. Thanks for the opinions.

Birthday Cake for Passover

So, this year instead of bringing chopped liver to the family sedar, I've been delagated to bring the birthday cake. Does anyone know of a bakery in Queens that makes a Passover birthday cake that really looks like a birthday cake and not a Passover cake? I know Bruce's in LI does it but I don't want to drive out there. Thanks for the help.

Early Dinner, Mother's Day, UES

We're going to the Jewish Museum (92nd & Fifth) with Mom on Mother's Day. I know, I know, who wants to eat out on Mother's Day. The inlaws are coming in from NJ and I live in Queens so...I do not want a prix fix mothers day menu. Hate them Any type of food will do. Moderate price range. Nice place. HELP!

(unwanted) insects in food

Glad that they threw the whole batch away. Hopefully they'll be more observant in the future.

I was once eating a bowl of Kashi cereal, the ones that look like Cheerios, looked down at my spoon as it was approching my mouth and saw a worm baked on to one of the "O"s. That was it for the bowl, box and unfortunately can never bring myself to buy Kashi cereal again. I know these things happens and at least the bug was dead but it totally grossed me out.

Brunch/Lunch Sunday in Chelsea

I'm going this Sunday for brunch with my dad and his wife who live in Chelsea. They are, lets say, 70ish. We usually end up going to East of Eighth or Moonstruck. I know, neither is a culinary experience but it's basic, casual and no wait. Any recommendations for the neighborhood? Good food, not too loud, preferably a place that takes reservations. My Dad has a cane so waiting for an hour is not an option.
Thanks.

Punch Restaurant-Any comments? Been There?

I've had lunch and dinner at Punch and have enjoyed it. The fillet mignon is really good. The desserts are delish. They also have a large choice of wines by the glass.

DYI reduced fat peanut butter...my latest harebrained scheme

I know it's OK to do since I've been doing just that for a while. Did it this morning in fact with my Smuckers Natural. The peanut butter isn't as creamy as it would be if you stirred in the oil but pouring it out makes me feel like I'm saving a couple of grams of fat.
Please don't anyone burst my bubble.

Best fried chicken?

Big Daddy's Diner on Park Avenue South & 19th St. Not greasy, enough to feed 2 people. Comes with salad and fries or tatertots. Yummy!!!

HELP!! In Forest Hills

Pellegrino, I couldn't agree with you more. Other than the restaurants you mention, plus Q in my opinion, FH is totally lacking in quality, upscale restaurants. Are we not as good as Brooklyn Heights and Park Slope?? Why don't the "trendy" chefs come to FH? I could never understand this and I've lived in FH for 18 years. And while we're at it, why no good Jewish Deli? Ben's used to be good but I think it's gone way downhill not to mention that it just looks old and dirty.

Nick's Pizza -- Best In New York, Maybe the East Coast

I love Nicks. I just did take out last night for dinner. Large pie and house salad. My one and only complaint was that when heating up any leftovers (on the odd occassion when there were any) in the oven the crust was soggy. Just discovered last night that if you heat it up in a pan on top of the stove the pizza is once again crispy and delicious. I wish I would have found out about this method years ago.

Mollys for Lunch

Thanks Namreb but my Dad takes the crosstown 23rd street bus so Molly's is very easy to get to. Old Town is right around the corner from my office so maybe one day, when he takes a cab, we'll try it.

Husband wants Lobster Dinner

Any suggestions for a restaurant that serves whole plain steamed or broiled lobster? Not Docks or City Crab. I'm fresh out of ideas.
Thanks.

Peppadews

I can't believe this. I never heard of them until my husband bought some from Stop & Shop a couple of months ago. They are sooo good. Try them on a grilled chicken sandwich. Or with hummus on a cracker. Yum!!! Also found them at Whole Foods.

Homemade granola in Manhattan?

At the Famers Maket in Union Square there is a vendor that has great granola that you buy by the pound. Sorry, don't know the name but they are usually on Union Square West. You can't miss it though. They sell it from help yourself containers. It's hit or miss if they are there.

Blue Ribbon Sushi for Husband's Birthday?

Thank you for all your replies. We've been to Nobu, years ago. While we enjoyed, it was a one time experience. We've also been to Gari where we were served by Gari. Loved that. I'm looking for something though less expensive this time. I'd love to try Yasuda but it will have to wait. I'm hoping to get away with spending $150 more or less. Lan looks interesting. Any other opinions on it? I think I'm making myself nuts trying to decide.

Blue Ribbon Sushi for Husband's Birthday?

It's hubby's birthday next Thursday. We'll be eating right after work. Is it worth it? I'm not looking to break the bank on dinner. Any other suggestions for sushi downtown? It doesn't need to be fancy or trendy, just good sushi. I'm not a sushi lover so I leave it up to the experts. Thanks.

Chinatown Ice Cream Factory - Flushing

Well that's a big bummer. I guess I'm still going to have to try the one in Chintown. I have to tell you though that I did go to the one in Flushing and although I can't compare it with the one in Chinatown, the icecream was pretty good.
