wow - so the frozen broccoli/cauliflower/carrot mix is sturdy enough to roast?? i find a lot of frozen veg are pretty waterlogged/mushy. do you just thaw and then roast?

i've never had an issue returning stuff without a receipt; i think they look it up on my card.

i've even returned OPENED and USED organic honey without a receipt (i think it had gone 'off' and the person at the desk said they get a lot of that product returned). i also returned a carton of eggs once cuz there was egg 'gunk' all over the eggs and it was one of the cartons that were wrapped in plastic so it's not like i could have checked beforehand.

the chips are WAY thicker and more 'hearty' than terra chips. and they seemed to be less greasy too.

i went around 11 am ... i guess that's early?

i'm always in a rush (thanks to my preschooler and my newborn) so i'm constantly weaving in and out at the etobicoke location trying to beat the crowds. :)

i picked up a bag of crispy veggie chips at the mississauga south location yesterday. OMG. they're super tasty!

and, as an aside, that location is like costco heaven compared to the etobicoke location ... no crowds, no lines, parking was a breeze, etc. geez, it really might be worth the extra 10 mins in the car!

ISO: Round, plastic disposable containers

i buy these pretty regularly @ wholesale club (along with aluminum containers) ... i think they're in sleeves of 50, lids sold separately ... they're not expensive. less than $10 per sleeve (?).

as always, i'm buying and trying way more stuff from costco thanks to nevy's blog! skyr, maple butter, crepe cookies, etc. etc. :)

Best Banana Bread

Dorie's banana bundt is also very good. Just divide the batter up in two loaf pans.

I hate to ask about something so mundane but has anyone seen all bran buds lately? I couldn't find any today at Queensway.

What 'size' recipe for Wilton cake pan?

Hi CH-ers,

I'd like to make a 'train' cake for my son's birthday. One of the local stores rents specialty Wilton cake pans. The instructions that comes with the pans say to use one box of any cake mix. I'd really like to make my own cake!

Any idea on 'how much' cake batter I'd need for one of these specialty pans??

This is the pan I'd like to use:

Thanks so much!!

agreed - love the price of the organic eggs ... hate the packaging. your 'vision' was my reality when a bunch of eggs came tumbling out of the carton on my front steps! i'm super careful carrying them now!

hey nevy,

yay! thanks for starting this.

i bought the mushroom mix a few years ago and was disappointed. they weren't that flavourful. and even when re-hydrated, some of the mushrooms were still dry and inedible. maybe this year's product is better.

Apple picking suggestions please?

we went to berryview farms this past weekend; it's part of the downey farms family. there's a tractor to take you out to the orchard. we picked ginger golds which were quite tasty. different varieties will be available as the season progresses. across the street, downey's has a market, a petting zoo, and a huge kid's play area (they charge admission).

my toddler loved the tractor and picking apples so we did not do the activities at downey's this time around.

Etobicoke sushi - takeout

hi kingsway,

thanks for the tip. i too find momiji expensive ... and after our last take-out order, it's painful to pay for bland and loose rolls!
