Whole Foods Seafood Policy a little Fishy
One argument one could make is that there exists some farm-raised salmon that are raised in a somewhat environmentally responsible manner, and that the supplier they're buying from is one that does so. Even Monterey Bay Aquarium says inland farm raised salmon is a "best choice".
Sweet Chinito [San Francisco] - La Lengua Chronicles Part 7
The deli sandwiches are solid, well-made deli sandwiches--nothing fancy, but well above the bar. The shakes are a great deal for less than $4. The croissant breakfast sandwiches (they bake the croissants and muffins themselves from what I assume is a mix or frozen state) can be pretty good. In general, everything is "made with care" and very fairly priced.
Sweet Chinito [San Francisco] - La Lengua Chronicles Part 7
They've got a pretty wide selection, primarily sandwiches, but also coffee/espresso, breakfast sandwiches, and shakes/ice cream.
La Lengua Chronicles - My Project for 2012
wrt Eagle Donuts, I think their breakfast croissant sandwiches are better than their donuts. The apple fritter is probably the best choice of their donuts, though.
La Lengua Chronicles - My Project for 2012
Generally agree, except that Sweet Chinito is really quite good (especially deli sandwiches and shakes).
I also like Cafe Seventy8, which is in that area.
Is there any way to get the LĂșcuma fruit in the United States?
Many Mexican/Central American grocery stores have it frozen...
In search of mild salmon
FWIW, and I could be wrong, but I don't think there's a wild or farmed salmon fishery in China...my guess is they're just processing them there (after growing or harvesting them elsewhere). If so, and it's wild salmon and not farmed, it may be a good choice...

Places worth eating on Hwy 5 from SF Bay Area north to Canada?
Second Vivify. Ashland's cool too.
My first time at Chipotle.... or, what the hell was that bland beige lump I just ate?
I've never had one object to giving me a plate of beans, meat, cheese, salsa...it may cost more for a "plate" than a burrito, and the paper plates sometimes aren't optimal (vs to-go boxes), but they'll do it.
Vegetarians and Weight Gain?
idk, you're right, but you're wrong--like, the number of calories is determined by--essentially--burning them in a calorimeter, which fails to take into account vastly different 'in vitro'/'in vivo' effects--namely that digestion may be much more effective at converting one type of nutrient into energy or fat than another, nor that one kind of nutrient may increase the basal metabolic rate, etc. While it it--obviously--governed by thermodynamics, it should be plausible that it wouldn't explain everything.
servers commenting on how much we ate - rude?
Just say "you're full" or "you weren't very hungry"...
Why Are Food Prices Shooting Up?
"Wasn't that the year that Des Moines erupted in riots over food costs? The year of bread lines in Albuquerque? The year that thousands starved on the streets of Manhattan?"
No, but there were riots in several other countries where the people were poorer--probably helps to take a global perspective.
Arriving before a restaurant opens [split from Ontario]
I take issue with a restaurant accepting reservations for 6:00 pm but not being open 5-15 minutes before it; if people are expected to be there exactly at opening time, it would be reasonable to offer some accommodation for people arriving slightly before their reservation, as is necessary given uncertainties in travel time, and so on.
Jai Yun Gripe
It's January now--if one were to serve corn and peas, one would most likely be better off serving frozen than fresh.
In Cupertino, looking for anywhere that has NY or Michigan style chinese food
this is a little weird--it's like asking for a place that does French Food like Tokyo when you're in Okinawa
That said, Chef Chu in Los Altos or Mandarin Gourmet in Cupertino would be worth checking out.

What's in and near Bernal Heights?
For chinese, Wild Pepper may be your best option; I like them more than Jasmine Tea House, and they have online ordering/delivery. That said, neither is reliably great, though.

How much to budget for group wine tasting fees?
imo, to an extent, it also depends on what the group is (eg wine club vs fraternity) and how you present yourself over the phone, but mainly on whether you're willing to pay.
How much to budget for group wine tasting fees?
idk, if you're willing to pay and make arrangements in advance, you probably get a private tour and tasting at most wineries (eg Pride or Spring Mountain, which are really good wineries). It wouldn't be cheap, around $50/pp, or so., but 30 is doable, especially midweek/off-peak. You certainly can't walk-in, though, and you'll have to pay quite a bit.
Five Guys Burgers opening in Fremont
i would assume a "veggie sandwich" is a zero-patty hamburger.
Most schools have commercial grade kitchens. What would YOU do, or suggest, toward a solution to lunch programs/ obesity / food stamp hunger, using the school kitchen as an evening training ground?
I'd say LA...
Five Guys Burgers and Fries to open in Pleasant Hill! (Any other in Bay Area?)
Five Guys is significantly more expensive but more substantial. Additional toppings come free, and portions are bigger.
Five Guys Burgers and Fries to open in Pleasant Hill! (Any other in Bay Area?)
I'm not sure I agree...If In-n-Out has higher standards, they're not publishing them.
In-n-out is using "100% pure beef", which is the same as McDonalds or any other hamburger joint--no one uses fillers or additives. Their webite doesn't say 'no antibiotics', so I assume it's just commodity beef. The only key differences I can see is that I-n-O grinds it themselves vs getting it ground from a supplier.
New FDA Rules On "Organic" marginally less laughable
Bear in mind, in many parts of the country, you can't really have the animals graze on pasture for much of the year, because it's either too cold, too wet, or too dry for them or the grasses to grow--the rest of the time, they eat hay/silage.
Greenlee's Cinnamon Bread
i think the regular is $5.99, the one with raisins is $6.29, but I could be wrong.
Ad Hoc question
Can you move the reservation time? They may be more flexible at less busy times.
