Siam Lotus under same management?

Recently we stopped by and had dinner at SL/spring garden st, and it's been awhile since we were there. I found the service lacking, and the food tasted overly sweet, very disappointing. Does anyone know if they are still owned by the same family, or do they have a new chef recently? It's a shame but we may have to move on to another thai eatery.

Source for macarons (not macaroons) online or close to Austin?

Have you tried La Burdick? they will ship fedex due to its short life.

Silk City Diner

Definitely the staff FOH and BOH need to either communicate better or have good judgement in pleasing their customers. I think a smart BOH staff member would have made an independent decision and prepared the simple bacon and cheese omelet. Remember, one dissatisfied customer can give bad reviews which can affect the future profit level.
On that note, we have always enjoyed the old and new Silk City, although I miss the jalapeno cornbread very much.

Mounting height and CFM questions for 5 burner cooktop. [Moved from Not About Food board]

flyfish,

thanks for the input..I haven't looked at any range hoods yet, but I am glad to get real people advise before hand. It took me awhile to select this cooktop since the control had to be upfront to maximize the cooking surface and having a tiny kitchen we have to utilize every inch. DH would be happy with the 24" blue star range however I wanted a cooktop.
thanks again.

Mounting height and CFM questions for 5 burner cooktop. [Moved from Not About Food board]

Chowhounds,

Hope you can share some suggestions....we will be purchasing a 30 inch gas cooktop for our tiny kitchen. this cooktop has 54k total btu's with 5 burners.
i'm concerned about 2 issues. the first is the 21" height from the cooktop to the bottom of the range hood. I just feel it is not enough clearance. The 2nd issue is that I'm not sure 300 CFM is adequate for the amt of heat generated. Obviously we do not want to go over budget w/higher CFM if we don't need to, however it is very important to have the right hood since our kitchen space is tiny. please advise,
thanks.

Art Museum-Fairmount

I would recommend Osteria or Aspen Grill. Osteria is on Broad and Wallace, and Aspen is on 25th and Aspen Sts. Figs is also good.

it's a great place for a wedding reception if you desire a center city location, close to everything, superb food spread. a very popular place to host events.

Philly Chowhounds: I'd like to hear

I've been to both Passion and Osteria, and you can't go wrong with either one. Passion is in the heart of center city, however Osteria is a short jump to old city where the bars/clubs are or Rittenhouse square area. If you're leaning toward Osteria make reservations for the wkend, they fill up quickly.

sausage bread is always tasty and try the pannekoeken (sweet or savory) you won't in the states.

Does cooking make you happy?

everything about cooking makes me happy, trying new recipes, tweaking old standbys, reading food journals, when we travel the food we taste is a big memory marker, and after a hard day at the office cooking is like meditation for me. but if I cook for a living I think it would change my feelings toward it.

donuts in cc phila

you may have to go to south philly for homemade donuts especially if you like white creme donuts. or you can try making them yourself and share so you won't eat all of it.

Yep, that's the best thing, eat@ S.Tap then bowl. food @ north bowl is ok, we ate there because it was convenient but when we can we hit standard tap first.
