Really worth the trip! The food is authentic and the prices are low!

Atlanta Cofee Roasters

You might try Joe's, I was gifted with two pounds for Christmas (Indian Monsoon Malabar AA, and Toraja Sulawesi ) and both are fantastic.

Upscale Atlanta dinner on a Sunday

Also, you may want to hit Holeman & Finch Pub right across the breezway and owned by the same chef.

Coming to Atlanta for a long weekend, am I missing anything?

Oooh, I'd forgotten about So Kong Dong! Road trip!

Coming to Atlanta for a long weekend, am I missing anything?

In order I'd say:
Chosun OK, 5865 Buford Hwy NE (home style)
Han Il Kwan, 5458 Buford Hwy (a little fancier)
Or, if you're on the North (I-85) side of things:
Honey Pig, 3473 Old Norcross Road, Duluth, 30096 (I reccomend fasting before you go...oy!)
Book Chang Dong Tofu House, 2550 Pleasant Hill Road (save room for dessert, you'll want to walk up a couple of doors to White Windmill Bakery)

Coming to Atlanta for a long weekend, am I missing anything?

Holeman & Finch IS worth the trip but mainly serve small plates, for a broader range of tastes by the same chef, try Restaurant Eugene next door (his Sunday dinner is really good). I'd skip Tasty China and hit Cafe 101 on Buford Hwy (just inside tI-285) authentic
Szechuan food and silly-cheap prices. Also, I posted a link in another reply for a local food writer, and so here's the same link for you! Happy hunting!

Quick trip to Atlanta...

Also here's a local food writer's site, she's never steered me wrong:

Anyone have or used a Viking oven?

I've never been happy with Viking (seems to be a case of sizzle vs. steak) I would
recommend checking the appliance forums at Garden web , lots of firsthand user experience. Blue Star has come out with a line of wall ovens as well, they have a good reputation among owners for build quality/customer service. Happy hunting!

Best restaurant in Baton rouge for 2 couples

My first recommendation is The Chimes. Located near LSU, it's packed with college students on weekend nights (so I'd pick lunch or a weeknight), but the food is excellent and it's a true BR institution. Excellent creole/cajun.

DiJulio's has excellent Italian, located in a fabulous eclectic neighborhood.

Kiva's has a more generic strip-mall atmosphere, but also excellent food.

And finally... Pinetta's. If they feel like being open that night, you'll have to hold up your lighter to read the menus. But out of that tiny kitchen comes fantastic European Italian cuisine. If the waiters feel like it, they'll stand by your table and serenade you with gospel tunes. If you're *really* lucky they'll refill your water and tea.

1800 DEGREE BROILER?

Here's my top choice.

It's hard to go wrong with Blue Star.

Global Minosharp knife sharpener, Anybody used one? Pro's and Cons?

The Minosharp's wheels are set at an angle specific to Global knives
(18 degrees I think vs. 27 for euro knives) so I wouldn't reccomend
it for das Wustof. I've had good luck with mine so far, I follow the
Minosharp with a few strokes on a Fine (800+) diamond stone and
the edge is scary sharp once more...your mileage may vary.

Best "T" for a G&T?

Still not available where I live, I asked the owner of my local package store
about both, and all I got was a deer-in-headlights stare. I've tried 365 and
have to agree it was bland. I like tonic that has a good "bite". Thanks
for all the info!

Best "T" for a G&T?

I've been reading reviews of everyones favorite gin brands, and
got to wondering what kind of tonic water are your favorites?
I try to find ones without the dreaded HFCS as a sweetener,
Schweppes is good, but I have to wonder if there's something
better. I'd especially like to hear from folks across the pond.

There's goat cheese, and then there's GOAT CHEESE

Humboldt Fog is a great chevre to be sure, if you can find it. Since you're in VA
you might try Elodie Farms. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner at the Durham Farmers Market, I had never had goat cheese that fresh (12 hours to be exact) and
creamy. I highly recomend checking them out. Here's their website:

Tanqueray vs. Hendrick's Gin?

I've been a fan of Hendrick's since my girlfiend made me a G&T with it, as for a martini
I still prefer Tanqueray 10. However, the owner of my local package store recomend
Miller's ...*very* nice, crisp taste, clean finish, and not too expenseive. It has since
become my "everyday" gin of choice.

Barbecue: GEORGIA

As for Atlanta Q I have four words for you: Fat Matt's Rib Shack!
Crowded, noisy and OMG good, BBQ chicken just falls off the bone
and the ribs...oh God the ribs. Also check out FM's chicken and fish
next door if your tastes run to fried.

REALLY good dim sum in Atlanta?

China Delight on Chamblee-Tucker Road (Just off Buford Hwy) serves some
of the best di sum I've eaten. And if they've stopped serving dim sum (late
afternoon) by all means try the menu items (the true Chinese, not the American-
Chinese) not too expensive and truly tasty.
