Sweet Purple Potatoes

Got 'em! At Chelsea Market's Manhattan Fruit Exchange. They came in on Thursday. Delicious! You have to ask them to get them from the back room, I got 2.5 pounds, there's about ten pounds left in the box. They charged $2.99 a pound.

Sweet Purple Potatoes

So I tried all the recommendations and here's the current report:

Eataly, not available.
WHole Foods, Columbus Circle: last time they had it was four months ago. They also said it was called "Adirondack Blue" potatoes. Not sure if it's the same sweet potato or another breed.
Westerly Market, not available.
Chinatown, not available.

Good News!!! Just called Chelsea Market Fruit Exchange and they said they have it!! going to get it now. $1.19 a pound. Will report back if it's really true.

Sweet Purple Potatoes

Wow, that was super fast! Thank you.... will check it out tonight.

Sweet Purple Potatoes

Anyone know where to buy Sweet Purple Potatoes? Not to be confused with the Peruvian Purple Potatoes that you can find at the Farmer's Market. Apparently these elusive potatoes are delicious and sweeter than the yellow sweet potatoes.

ISO killer cha gio

Had dinner last week at Saigon Grill on University, ordered Bun Cha Gio and was greatly disappointed. Now I'd like to find the best cha gio in the city. Any suggestions?

What's the ISE difference?

i often *hear*, not here.

What's the ISE difference?

I often here ISE mentioned as a favorite, but don't know which one is referred to. There's two in midtown. What is the difference in menu, service and atmosphere? Which do you prefer?

best boulangerie and other savory tips in the Ile St. Louis or nearby?

Thank you all so much. I can't wait to get started on your suggestions!

best boulangerie and other savory tips in the Ile St. Louis or nearby?

I'm staying in the Ile St. Louis for five nights at the end of the month. Wondering if chowhounds could steer me in the right direction? Looking for a flaky croissants and great baguettes. Also, looking for somewhere nearby to pick up picnic fare. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Best Cobb Salad?

Anyone have recommendations for Cobb Salad? Having a craving for a good one, preferably close to Union Square.

Best Cobb Salad? Preferably nr Union Square

Anyone have recommendations for a great Cobb Salad in the Union Square or nearby neighborhood? I have enjoyed the cobb salad at Cafeteria and Le Pain Quotidien and am curious to try more. Thanks!

POP Burger Fries recipe

Had Pop Burger fries yesterday, they were incredibly crunchy and yummy. Can someone tell me how it's made? What gives it that thick layer of crunch?

Roadtrip NYC to Mt. Laurel NJ, where to chow down?

I'm taking a business roadtrip today from NYC to Mt Laurel NJ and need suggestions... I'm not familiar with NJ in the least bit so anything along Route 295 would be good. Looking for an inexpensive and delicious bite. Ethnic is great, maybe Vietnamese?

The Central Park Boathouse

Poor service is always disappointing and during these times all businesses have got to appreciate the value of giving not just good but great service. That said... I hope you tried the crabcakes.

Dog Show this weekend-harrisburg

Thank you both. Now I don't feel completely clueless :-)
It's a shame that the venues make people eat lousy food at really high prices.
I get in around 4 on Friday. Will see if there is anything going on at that time.

Dog Show this weekend-harrisburg

Hello Chowhounds,
I am a new yorker going to the dog show this weekend in Harrisburg. Will be staying at the Crowne Plaza and need recommendations for take-out or somewhere nearby that's walking distance. WIll need Friday night dinner, (Mangia Qui? Suba?) and Sat breakfast. Would love a recommendation for a deli or restaurant to take food with me to the Farm Show Building as I'm sure food there would make me cranky. The day is long at the show and I've got to keep my energy up!

City Island Bronx suggestions?

Thank you, gutreactions. I think that I would most likely go to Artie's for the appetizers. Any recommendations regarding their menu?

City Island Bronx suggestions?

I was wondering if someone could steer me in the right direction for Pelham Bay, City Island. My horse is at the Bronx Barn right at the crossroad for City Island and I would like to know if there is anything on City Island where I could go to after a day of riding? Looking for brunch, lunch or even a great bar would be nice. Casual is definitely the way to go since I will be in riding clothes. LOL

Tapas

I second Alta. Wonderful and tasty.

dinner tonight w/3 yr old, Hells Kitchen?

Please suggest a good restaurant, reasonably priced, not too over the top for tasty food in hell's kitchen, one of my friends has a well-behaved 3 year old. My other two friends are gay artists that would appreciate nice atmosphere and lighting. They are all from out of town and I don't know where to start. Hell's Kitchen is full of thai, but I think that would be too spicy for the little one. Thank you in advance :-)

Dining pre-BAM performance

Going to a BAM performance on Friday night, any great restaurant recommendations before the show? I am going by subway, would like it to be super close to BAM. I'm looking for something tasty. Quality would be the main factor.... cheap if it's great or higher priced if it's worth the extra expense is fine. Please steer me in the right direction :-)

Good, falafel Union Square, not Rainbow?

I could use a walk! I'll try it this afternoon. Thanks!

French Bistro recommendation Quebec City?

Thanks. Will check it out tomorrow night!

My Mesa Grill Dinner

I love Mesa Grill and have a lot of respect for what Bobby Flay produces. Forget the TV image. Recently tried Bolo and that was fantastic. Shared a bunch of appetizers and split one entree with a friend and everything was so definite and tasty. If you want to talk about TV chefs, I don't understand what the fuss is about Mario Batali. I've eaten at three of his restaurants, the food is pricey and uneven and the flavors rather pedestrian even though he goes on and on about it TV. I am never satisfied when I hit the Batali joints, Bobby Flay joints never fail to deliver in my humble opinion.

Suggestions for Tocqueville

I have to agree with bBushel. Food was mediocre and therefore way overpriced and the service was so snobby. Don't waste your time or money. Giant thumbs down.

French Bistro recommendation Quebec City?

FIrst day in Quebec City today. Had lunch at Toast as recommended by Chowhounders. Enjoyed it very much. Had the duck confit appetizer and tilapia entree. The tilapia was topped with a reduced meat viniagrette that made the dish heavier. Now I'm in the mood for simply cooked good French bistro food. Could you recommend anyplace that I can walk to, I'm staying at the Chateau Frontenac. Where can I get a classic chicken, burger or croque monsieur without unneccesary fussiness?

best frites in Quebec CIty?

Quebec City Lounge Bar?

Thanks for the heads up on Chateau Frontenac. I actually got a great deal due to possible obstruction of the view due to scaffolding. Practically half off! I don't think that I would have stayed there if it weren't for that :-)
Any good ethnic food in Q-town?

Quebec City Lounge Bar?

That's easy, I'm staying at Chateau Frontenac!
