Jerry's in Englewood for Italian, especially cheeses

Restaurant for 50th anniversary

Hamilton and ward in Paterson has very reasonable fixed price options andwould appeal to an older diner

Locale Cafe, Closter NJ

Respectfully disagree. Service was unbelievably bad the 2 times I ate there. Lots of people running around with little food getting to the table. Ordered specials and were told 15 minutes later that they were unavailable. Flagged down waiter to get drink order. It really was a mess. Note that we ate outside on the patio in nicer weather. Doesn't have to be expensive if you order carefully, but I'm not sure that's doable with a large group. Head further up piermont road into nyack and go to Velo. There's also some nice options in Tappan NY.

The House - 121 East 17th Street

thanks all. I guess the consensus is to stick to drinks.

The House - 121 East 17th Street

Had drinks there and it was really nice looking. Any recent comments on food? Not much on chowhound.

Food suggestions in Clifton

I may regret this but I'm giving up my office's favorite peruvian chicken place in Paterson- we've been up and down market st and the winner is tia delias on market and mill st in paterson. Unbelievably nice, folks, and quarter chicken lunch with salad and fries for just over 5 bucks. Have with the inca cola.

Whiskey please

Would this be the best food/drink option? I'm looking to take my guy for his birthday. thanks.

That's the best Toro's and its pretty on the inside. Great lunch specials.

1st Anniversary Dinner Ideas

Ciano is on gilt city today. Never eaten there but its on my list.
Hotel Griffou is fun and young but thisclose tables not very romantic.

Birthday dinner for two for $100 total

I check out the deals on gilt city or other deal website. There's usually an interesting alternative that will put you in under that budget. Today there is one for 3 course dinner for 2 for $64 and with tip will bring you in under your desired hundred.

Reasonable, yet terrific French for 25th Anniversay

I love the food at La Silhoutte but the room doesn't have that big event feel that the OP may be looking for.
How about Picholine?

Brunch on Sunday in northern bergen county?

Try Kloe bistrot in fort lee. Not your typical new jersey restaurant and lots of good egg choices.

HELP! Small Wedding ideas in Rockefeller Center for this Christmas!

I have 2 suggestions but don't know if they will accommodate you on xmas day or not. Brasserie Ruhlman has an inexpensive banquet menu for private lunches starting at around $50 per head. The Terrace Club is private but they might also be accommodating and they are attached to a hotel. Not sure of their pricing but they are fairly new and may be looking for business.
You could also check with the hotel - I think its called Jewel to see if they have a room or suite that might work for you.
Congrats on the big day.

Maywood

All the love for Sessions and Maywood Inn, I have to try soon and report back.
Lately I've been eating at the bar at Mantra when I find myself on 'the highway" at evening meal time.
I am spoiled on peruvian by working in Paterson.

New restaurant in englewood in Sol & Sol location

Its Vent as in Le Vent, yes horrible font. Its in the same middle eastern vein as Bennies, Rose's and Samdan - not really greekish. Ate their twice so far. Its better than Bennie's and Roses and will put a crimp in their businesses fur sure. Hair more expensive I think but better quality and nicer presentation and nicer room. Service really tries to please, met the owner who was lovely. Order the combo app plate and all were yum and very fresh, maybe portions a little small.
Any other opinions?

A very romantic restaurant for a french couple

For super elegant, high class room and great food how about Gilt. It screams big deal, special occasion to me. Is it too french influenced?

Good italian restaurant near 45th street and 8th avenue?

I don't like Gallo Nero because it can be deafeningly loud and cramped. Has anyone tried Cara Mia on 9th? They have a 20 dollar price fixed after 8 on their website that looks like a good deal. Would love to know if the food is ok.

Hackensack area baby shower ideas?

I haven't been but I know others who have booked Sanzari New Bridge for parties and were happy.
Some Riverside square mall restaurants may have private rooms - Mangianos and Mortons.

New in Fort Lee - Kloe Bistrot

Ate at the just 5 weeks opened Kloe Bistrot last night. Across the street from the out of business Borders near the bridge.
Very un-Fort Leeish with funky interior design and great music soundtrack. Menu is quite nice too with most French Bistro types of dishes with some pastas thrown in for good measure. Great dining option if you don't want to cross the bridge. And its BYOB to boot which adds 10 extra points in my book.
Table ordered:
French onion soup - thicker and sweeter than traditional with only a moderate amount of cheese (that a good thing for me)
Smoked trout app which was good but a bit pricey for $15
Salad lyonaisse - one of my favorite salads and the frisee was wonderfully wilted with some yumola lardons and a perfectly poached egg
Amish chicken which I just tasted but it had an organic taste moistened with a flavorful au jus.
Steak au poivre which was good enough but the french fries were to die for.

Didn't have dessert but the tea got high marks, I think it was some sort of a minty tea?

Our host/waiter may have also been an owner and he couldn't have been nicer (or a snappier dresser).

It's small so once it gets popular - which I'm guessing it will in no time - a reservation may be necessary. It was not a problem to walk in at 7:30 on Sunday night, the place was only 1/3 filled.
Good date place.

suggestion for restaurant near 43st betw 9+10

Tried Elsewhere last night - OK but not great. Don't think I'd go back.
I'm in this area fairly often - any other suggestions? Like Marseille, Esca is above my price point.

Private party for 45 BYOB in Northern NJ ???

You can come in way under that price at Spasso in Cresskill. Not everything on the menu is great but I'm sure you can pick and choose a decent meal.
Also, Max's in Tenafly is BYOB and I have been to a private event there but you would need to book the whole restaurant as it isn't that big.

Emanu-el Deli in Tenafly: great prepared food to be found

How are the prices?

Looking For Elegant Mother's Day Brunch in North Jersey

Can't really vouch for this place yet - I have a luncheon event scheduled in the next 2 weeks - but Hamilton and Ward in Paterson might fit the bill. The brunch menu looks good and I'll report back on the food after my event.
They provide free valet parking

Mexican Restaurants in Bergen County

Rosa Mexicano in the Riverside Square Mall is very good, even if going to a mall for dinner is kind of icky.
For very casual tacos in a down home setting La Bamba in Sparkill, right over the boarder, serves out of the back of a grocery store.

Graduation lunch recommendations - Northern Bergen County

I like the 76 House reco, it has a nice lunch menu with some more substantial items.

Unusual food between Woolman rink and the Metropolitan Museum of Art?

I'm going to suggest places close to Columbus Ave so that you can hop in a cab and go east to the museum. I think these would be child friendly too ...
Kefi for greek
Salumeria Rosi for Italian meats
Calle Ocho for Latin
Akai Lounge - Japanese not just sushi

I'm sure there's a good indian too - I just don't know one to recommend.

Wine bars in north nj

I haven't eaten dinner there since it first opened so any opinion would be outdated. I have ordered the pizza at the bar and some of the other bar foods, which were all good.

Pleasing everyone-LES or East Village

The orchard.

Wine bars in north nj

Grand Cru next to Bergen PAC. Another place - Caprizza opened on the other side of the theater and has a dj on the weekends.
Also suggest the bar at Nisi which has stools, hi tops and couch seating. The bar at the clinton inn in tenafly has a good selection of wines by the glass but can be a little quiet.
