Seafood Markets in St. Pete??

Can someone please recommend a good, fresh seafood market in St. Pete? Reasonable prices would be great, but I am more concerned about quality. Thanks in advance!

Susuan,

PM has been around a very long time. Food isn't great, but you're right about the charm!

Best Eats in Tampa/St. Petersburg

I would stay away from Red Mesa. At least for Sunday Brunch anyway. I have been there several times and found it to be extremely lack-luster.

Opinions of Aruba Beach Cafe in Lauderdale-by-the-sea?

Has anyone been to the Aruba Beach Cafe in Lauderdale-by-the-sea? Might it work for a very casual and beachy rehearsal dinner for about 50 people? Also, anyone know if they have daily steel drum music there?

No, thanks! Again, I live in Saint Petersburg so I am not familiar with the area at all. Any other suggestions would be appreciated as I am compiling a list for when I go down next month!

Thanks-- I checked this out, but not quite what they are looking for. I think they want something on the water/beach with a Caribbean feel. They also want a steel drum band to play.

Found a Great Place in Largo!!!

Wasn't implying that Guppy's was further north than E & E--it's just that I live in S. St. Pete (see original post) so it's way north of me. :)

They do. They also own Guppy's. I haven't been to either one of those places either. Again, just too far north of us. Are they any good?

Found a Great Place in Largo!!!

Wanted to share with you guys about a restaurant I just tried two nights ago in Largo/Bellai\r Bluffs called E & E Steak Out Gril--100 Indian Rocks Rd N, Belleair Bluffs, FL
Tel: (727) 585-6399.

My brother came into town with a colleague for some police training. They were staying off of East Bay, which is pretty far north of us since we are in S. St. Pete. Anyway, I really was not familar with the area so I hopped on the Internet and did some research. E & E Steak Out Gril kept popping up while I was doing my searches. It was only about 5 minutes from their hotel, so I decided to try it.

What an amazing place! We started off with the crab quesadillas (served with a berry reduction glaze and orange-pineapple salsa) and the ahi tuna. Delicious! I had one of their two signature margaritas which had a palate-pleasing splash of pear juice added to it (and at only $4.50, it was a great bargain!). My husband and brother both ordered steaks which were cooked to perfection and melted in their mouths. My brother's colleague ordered the prime rib and lobster tail with the homemade garlic butter and couldn't stop talking about how good it was. I had the red mesa burger--spicy and juicy served atop a warm, soft kaiser roll with chipotle mayo.

The decor was upscale/elegant southwestern and our server was friendly and professional. Everything about that place was amazing.

The prices range from $7.00 for some of the appetizers to $35.00 for the rack of lamb and market price for the surf and turf. You can get a great big steak there though for about $17.00. I honestly would have paid almost twice that for the whole experience, but was glad I didn't have to.

Just thought I would share this little gem of a place with you guys! We plan on going back very soon!

They pretty much stick to the prices in the catering menus they give you for review, right? Do you mind me asking what your budget is?

That's actually the one place I checked out when I was down there. It was amazing, of course, but very expensive. Also, I think it is a little too elegant for what they are wanting. If it was my wedding though, I would have it there in a heartbeat!

Thank you. I have done a little research and saw several posts on a Fodor site that there is a 3K minimum with any larger party. Did you run across this?

Okay thanks. I think they are looking to spend no more than 3k (and they would like to be able to have an open bar, or at least beer and wine). Not sure if upscale would be what they are looking for since they want to have a more casual atmosphere. They are doing their actual wedding and reception on a yacht so I think they are trying to keep the whole water and beach theme going for the weekend.

We went to this one restaurant on A1A out on the beach that had these swinging benches and tables. They liked the feel of the restaurant (it being open, close to the water, casual, beachy, etc.) but it was so loud with all of the traffic, a little too casual, and plus the manager said they don't do private parties there.

They would also like to hire a steel drum band to play at the dinner, so the restaurant would have to be able to accommodate something like that. Outside OR inside dining is okay.

Estelas in Tampa

Carmelita's is amazing. Definitely worth the trip. The food's authentic, the margaritas are prickly and the fried ice cream is not to be missed!

Orlando seafood recs for business dinner

My family recently went to Orlando for my Mom's 60th. It was a special time, so I wanted to make sure we went to a nice place for dinner each night. I did a bunch of research and finally settled on Jack's Place in the Rosen Plaza for out Saturday night dinner (be careful, there are several Rosens, but Jack's Place is at the Rosen Plaza). What an amazing time we had! The food and service were amazing--even with our waiter helping another couple of waiters out with a party of 50! We had 8 people total in our party--all GOOD food lovers--and no one was disappointed.

You can check out their web site here: http://www.jacksplacerestaurant.com. Be sure to check the "Specials" page--there is actually a buy one meal, get one half off coupon. But please don't let the offer of the coupon deter you--there was nothing "cheap" or unclassy about this place!

Here's a review of the place too: http://www.orlandoweekly.com/dining/r...

Tallahassee area Seafood

Hi there! I did my undergrad at FSU. There's this great place out on Capital Circle called Calico Jack's Seafood House and Oyster Bar - 2745 Capital Circle N.E. 385-6653. If you order oysters, the bar tenders shuck them right in front of you (and they're huge), but they have a myriad of other seafood as well. The best part is you can order almost everything grilled, steamed, boiled, broiled or raw! No problems for lent!

Rehearsal Dinner Locations in Ft. Lauderdale

Hi everyone! I just signed up on this site today and it looks like you've got a great thing going here! I live in St. Pete/Tampa and am planning my brother's wedding (he lives in Ft. Lauderdale). Does anyone have any recommendations for Rehearsal Dinner locations in Ft. Lauderdale?

There will probably be about 50 people and it is going to be in November, so the weather should be nice. They were thinking about something beachy but A1A is so dang busy (from what I have seen) that I think it's best if they don't do anything right off of there. They want something casual but sophisticated. They have even talked about bringing in a steel drum band to play during dinner. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
