Tuesday dinner UES
Ottomanelli's sounds good; I actually think we ate there for a previous Dr. appointment! I would say $20 and under p.p. (not including wine, tip). Thanks!
Tuesday dinner UES
Have a Dr. appointment around 90th and Park. Looking for a casual, inexpensive dinner. Like all food except Indian. Thanks for all suggestions.
Tucson Mexican food
Although I grew up in Tucson, I have not been there for many years. Would like to go for a uniquely "Tucson" Mexican lunch. Any location is fine, including South Tucson. Thanks for your help, and can't wait to return even if only for a few days. While I'm asking, how about great steak? We used to love Pinnacle Peak!
Inner Harbor Sept. 16th
I appreciate all the suggestions. Wish we were staying longer after seeing these lists!!
Inner Harbor Sept. 16th
Local specialties, seafood, steak... We like almost anything except sushi. Thanks!
Inner Harbor Sept. 16th
Will be there overnight to attend Jets/Ravens game on Sunday. We've never been there before; would like to sight see and eat--probably two lunches and one dinner. Nothing fancy. We will have a car. Suggestions? Thanks!
2007 Sobe Wine and Food Fest
Thanks for the information. I have to ask: do you leave at 6 pm "full", or do you then have to go to dinner somewhere?
2007 Sobe Wine and Food Fest
I had also noticed the steep increase. We were planning on attending the Grand Tasting this year for the first time, but $400 for two of us seems like lots of money. Is it worth that much money, and/or could someone explain to me exactly what the Grand Tasting encompasses? Thanks so much.
Dinner today on Upper East Side
Have a doctor appt. this afternoon at Lenox Hill Hospital, at 77th St. Would appreciate ideas for a moderately priced, casual restaurant with good food, (no sushi). Thanks!
Bouley suggestions
A group of five will be eating at Bouley (first time) at the end of July. As we live in NY, I don't expect there will be a return visit (there are too many other restaurants to try). I'd like to make the most out of this occasion, so any food/wine/ordering suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
Creating a Recipe Book
When my daughters were engaged about seven years ago my cousin gathered special recipes from friends and family. She organized the recipes into a binder with special recipe cards and dividers which she bought online somewhere. What was really special was that people included their personal cooking/eating memories, with photos of family some including my daughters when they were young, or previous generations. It is really, really unique, and the recipes are the ones that my girls always turn to first.
Reunion dinner for 6?
Looking for cozy, unrushed dining experience with great food, unpretentious atmosphere. Like New Orleans cuisine but not exclusively fish. This dinner will be the Sat. night of Memorial Day weekend. Thinking of Clancy's, but open to all suggestions. Thanks!
Confused about New Jersey?
I'm with HillJ on this. Hoboken and Cape May are easy to categorize, but there are many grey areas, e.g. New Brunswick, Atlantic Highlands, Bridgewater to name a few.
trader joes type stores in middlesex county?
Wegman's is a great supermarket in Woodbridge, off of Rt. 9. They have lots of "Trader Joe's type" items.
Print a recipe?
How can I print a recipe that is posted, without printing pages and pages of the entire thread? I tried to paste it onto a Word document, but it doesn't work.
What are your Passover crowd pleasers?
Help! I'd love to make this recipe but don't know how to render chicken fat, nor am I making a chicken anytime soon. Is there something else I can substitute (even though you said not to!). Thanks.
South Beach with Wife first timer
We shared a Cerviche--don't remember which one but it was very good (although we had never had it before so I can't compare); "mystery meatballs"--very delicious; I had the Crispy Pork which was recommended by our waiter--I liked it alot, but I'm really not a pork eater and probably could have ordered something more to my liking (my mistake); hubby had the Fish of the Day which was prepared with sauteed spinach and calamari, mussels, and some other things. Very tasty and fresh. He had mojitos and I had some kind of zowie pink drink with Passion in the name that was excellent. We didn't have dessert--I like to stop at Ghiradelli's on our walk back up Lincoln. Ola is definitely on our "return to" list!
South Beach with Wife first timer
Banana bread pudding sounds wonderful. I will try it on our next trip down, hopefully soon!
South Beach with Wife first timer
Hubby and I were in South Beach about three weeks ago for the third time. We had an excellent dinner at OLA (which stands for Of Latin America). Expensive, but the atmosphere was nice and food was unusual. Look around the hotel--Sanctuary--that the restaurant is in--very unusual too. We also liked Oriente alot on Ocean Drive, in addition to the other restaurants listed on this topic. We had also returned to Ice Box for dinner and thought it was just ok, and no atmosphere. I tried the German chocolate cake that gets rave reviews and didn't think it was extraordinary.
Confused about New Jersey?
Glad to see I'm not the only frustrated user. One thing for sure is that New Jersey is NOT an Outer Borough.... OK, where would you post for questions concerning the Middlesex County or New Brunswick areas? Thanks for your help.
South Beach breakfast/brunch
I was in South Beach two weeks ago... We ended up having two breakfasts at Front Porch. They have fabulous granola pancakes. If you get them, be sure and share. The pancakes are tremendous, but delish. We also eat at Balan's often for breakfast. I love their yogurt and granola. Wish we were back for more!
Confused about New Jersey?
I would definitely use the Boards more if I could find the New Jersey postings. The postings also never seem to be moved or edited to a new board either. I wonder if any other states fall into three categories?
Confused about New Jersey?
I had been browsing New Jersey topics on the Tri-state Region board (NY, NJ and CT, right?). Then, today I happen to notice that many, many New Jersey posts appear on the Mid-Atlantic board. Which is it, or is it both, and why?
Rehoboth Beach this summer for family vacation!
A group of twenty of our extended family, ranging in age from one to 80, will be renting a house this summer for a week. We are unfamiliar with the area. We'll probably be barbecuing at the house most times, but would like some recommendations for child-friendly restaurants as well as noteworthy "adult" restaurants should the adults venture out for a meal or two without the kiddies. Thanks in advance!
2007 Sobe Wine and Food Fest
Thanks so much for the info. I checked the website and joined the mailing list. I would love to attend some of the events next year and now I know which ones to look for!
2007 Sobe Wine and Food Fest
Hubby and I vacationed in South Beach last week--had a wonderful time. We would like to be there the same week next year and buy tickets ahead of time for the Festival, but we are uneducated as to what the different events entail. In general, we are more interested in eating and drinking wine than watching cooking demos. Also, how do we buy the tickets? Thanks for your help!
"New" Reply Not Disappearing
I am having the exact same problem. I only discovered Chowhound a few months ago and everything was going well, but this problem started today.
