Florida trip April 12-17

Hey Chowhounds, me and the family are driving from Atlanta to Miami for a wedding next month. We want to stop somewhere fun on the way down to recreate, eat, and drink. I really need to get at least halfway if not more of the way to Miami before we stop. Any suggestions?

We have reservations in Coral Gables/Coconut Grove for three nights. We want to eat some good Cuban food and some seafood. Also we need to find a hotel room in a different area, (near or on the beach) for the 16th that has good food nearby. We probably can't do restaurants that are super expensive or fancy because we are bringing the 8 and 10 year olds. Help!

Thanks!

Chow By Atlanta MARTA - Help!

right on potterybliss. The Brickstore in Decatur is a great place where you can drink good beers from around the world. And Java Monkey is one block behind Brickstore and has the best coffee in town in my humble opinion. It's a safe MARTA stop with lots of options.

You could take the train east to King Memorial and walk two blocks south to Memorial Drive where you will find the Standard (good bar, curry night on Mondays), another couple blocks west Daddy D'z (good bbq and southern sides), or east to Six Feet Under, Ria Bluebird. Or walk over to Cabbagetown, just a few blocks on the other side of the cemetary, to Carrol Street Cafe or Agave.

Chowfamily Seeks Atlanta Tips

Try the Korean goodness of 88 Tofu House (Buford Hwy at 285) and fantastic Thai at Little Bangkok (Cheshire Bridge Rd). For great higher end try Taurus (about 1 mile north of the High on Peachtree Street). Also, southern food served family style Mary Mac's Tearoom(Ponce de Leon and Myrtle St). Six Feet Under has a great deck where you can see out over historic Oakland Cemetary and the skyline of Atlanta and a great key lime pie (Memorial Dr SE at Cherokee Ave) and next door you will find the best brunch in the city at Ria's Bluebird. My kids love all these places!

Chicken Chile Verde

I made this last night and it was awesome. I just fried up the different steps in a big skillet then dumped them in a crock pot. It slow cooked all afternoon while I did other stuff. The chicken came out so tender and the spices gave it a nice kinda mole taste. Also, I used regular paprika mixed with a little cayenne pepper instead of smoked paprika and no aleppo because I couldn't find them - but it was still good. Thx Aida!
