Coming to DC and dining at BLT Steakhouse and Sushi Taro
Greetings! I'm coming into DC this week and am having lunch at BLT Steakhouse and dinner at Sushi Taro. Considering the prices I'd rather not blow money on poor entree choices. If anyone has experience at these two places would love to hear about it. At BLT I'll be leaning towards one of the salads, not a huge steak fan. At sushi taro I'm up for anything!
Thanks!
Coming to DC with 8 year old
The eastern market sounds like a very good idea. Just our kind of thing. I'll look it up.

Coming to DC with 8 year old
Hi everyone,
I've been coming to DC from Columbus Ohio on business for years and am thrilled to finally be bringing my 8 year old son with me this year for his Spring break. We'll be staying around Dupont Circle (at the hotel Madera) and hanging out during the day by the museums. I was wondering if anyone could recommend both chain and non chain restaurants in the area that has good food I would like (I'm a bit of a foodie but can take it down a notch with kid in tow) and that he would like and that is reasonable in price. Please feel free to mention places that have so so food but are particularly fun for kids, it this exists. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as always! Also, if you have any other advice just in the general DC w/ kids arena please let me know. The only thing that is missing for us is that our hotel doesn't have a pool.....
Thanks in advance!

St. Louis recommendations?
Thank you! I'll be conducting business downtown mostly. I asked someone about sushi and they mentioned Miso but I looked online at the menu and I have to say it looked a little Mcsushi. It was also suggested that i stay in Clayton. Any thoughts there?
Best Picks in Columbus, Ohio?
I think Rosendale's is quite over rated and it is expensive. I really like the Burgundy Room (small plates), their scallop dish is amazing!
St. Louis recommendations?
Hello!
I am going to be coming in from Columbus Ohio to St. Louis, on business and this will be my first time in the city, and possibly the state (though as a kid I went to worlds of fun constantly, is that in Missouri?!) at any rate, I would welcome any suggestions on restaurants (more interesting mid priced cuisine) and though I realize this isn't a travel web site, I'd REALLY like suggestions about hotels and what parts of town are cool and safe and what isn't. Again, I realize this isn't a travel website BUT, I'm clueless. Thanks, in advance for any input!

Sushi but no Sushi Taro?
Thanks for all of the responses! i'm embarrassed to say, I went to Sakana but got there too early and I simply could not wait (it was cold and i was starving) so I went to Kramer books cafe and had some suprisingly, Id almost say, shockingly, good food. I know its not gourmet but I was really impressed. And by the way the night before I had been to Vidalia and had the $75 tasting menu and left starving and unimpressed.....
Thanks again!

Sushi but no Sushi Taro?
Hello, I'm coming into DC Sunday staying around Dupont Circle and just read that Sushi Taro is closed for renovation. Can anyone recommend a substitute in the area?

Umi Sake House
Several people have suggested Umi Sake House to me for my upcoming and first trip to Seattle. I got on their website and I am drooling. So, two questions, would any of you who have been there tell me what to order? It takes me forever to decide and I can honestly buy a TV faster than I can order dinner. Also, does anyone know if they do take out?
Thanks!
Entertaining clients in Seattle, totally clueless
Fabulous! I will report back in July!
Entertaining clients in Seattle, totally clueless
I will be in Seattle for a few days next month. I am looking for several suggestions and I'll try and keep this brief:
1. Sushi -- location doesn't matter
2. Take out -- in the area of the 1100 block of 4th avenue
3. Good lunch spots downtown for a client lunches
4. A great place to take clients to dinner, price not a big concern, locattion could be anywhere.
I should preface this by saying I am utterly clueless. I have never been further west than Colorado. Any helo would be greatly, greatly appreciated.
Update on Vidalia Good Dupont Cirlce take out for tomorrow?
Thanks to those who gave my advive about Vidalia. I thought the meal was pretty bad. The atmosphere and service were fabulous, but the food was worse than just not memorable, in fact, I may never forget the sea bass I had because I've never had worse, and I live in Columbus Ohio where I've had wonderful bass! I also had. I am not about to trash a restaurant based on one experience, but I cant see going there again. The venison carpaccio wasnt on the menu....and no one was ordering dessert so the lemon chess cake (?) didn't get tried, sad to say.
That said, i need a good place for take out tomorrow! Ill be around Dupont Circle if anyone has any advice!

Vidalia recommendations?
Many thanks for the responses....I'll let you know what happens!
Vidalia recommendations?
Hello,
I'm coming into town from Columbus, Ohio this week and will be dining at Vidalia. I am wondering if those who have been there could suggest items on the menu, to avoid or partake in! Not going to Vidalia is not an option, so hopefully I will hear good news about it!
I will also be looking for yummy take out while in town (I'll be around 15th and K) and was wondering if anyone had suggestions. I am not a burger person so much but love Thai and sushi.
Thanks, in advance!

From Columbus to DC, Vidalia?
I will be travelling to DC next month from Columbus Ohio and will be dining at Vidalia. I took a look at their menu online and was filled with excitement and tremendous fear. Some of the items were simply not recognizable to me and so I'm really hoping for some suggestions from people who have dined there before. That said, it may be helpful to know I am an adventurous eater (though not smart enough to be a foodie!) with a thing for seafood and raw fish. But I am not averse to red meat either. Love salad.
So, if you've been there and loved or hated something, please, please let me know!!
Thanks so much!

Sushi in Columbus
I know....I am excluding the best I've read about...but the situation calls for it. Anyway, I was actually thinking of Kooma but I've never been there so I really appreciate the suggestion! Where is Restaurant Hama? I am able to go north, just not to Dublin. Doesn't have to be cental. Thanks!
Sushi in Columbus
Hey everyone!
I'm looking for a good sushi restaurant in Columbus that has atmosphere...AKA, not in a strip mall, that is not in Dublin, and that isn't Haiku (can't stand their sushi)....any ideas???
Thanks!
Wild Salmon THE RESTAURANT
Thanks for saving me from a horrible dining experience!!!
Wild Salmon THE RESTAURANT
Hey...For two people maybe $200? Just no sushi, I love it but date doesn't eat it....
Wild Salmon THE RESTAURANT
Thank you! Well maybe you could recommend something else? In terms of location: Midtown works, Garment District and anything on the West Side between 12th and 45th Streets. Any ideas?
Wild Salmon THE RESTAURANT
Hello!
I'll be travelling to Manhattan in early December and am considering the restaurant Wild Salmon, for dining. Has anyone been there?!
Thanks in advance!

I loved Kinkeads
Just a quick thanks to all who helped me find places to dine on my most recent DC trip. I have since been to NYC where I dined in several "very nice" restaurants...and I have to say, I had nothing nearly as good as the two meals I had at Kinkead's in your fair city. I also dined in other DC restaurants but none as notable as Kinkead's. I should also say, on my last visit there two years ago it was no nearly as memorable. Anyone who goes there should try the phyllo wrapped halibut.
Thanks for the help!
Oh, and I also tried the sushi place on 2026 P (sakana?) and thought it was an amazing value.

In from Columbus Ohio Looking for Raw Fish!
Hello
I'm going to be in from Ohio next week entertaining clients for dinner on two nights. If it was up to me we'd be going straight to Kaz Sushi (the place sounds amazing!) but alas, the women I am entertaining are in their 70's and 80's and I wouldn't do that to them. So, basically, I am looking for a nice restaurant, suitable for them where I might sort of, sneak in some sushi, if you will. Can anyone recommend a nice place with intereseting food that also does raw fish? Doesn't have to be "sushi".
Thanks much in advance! If you come to Columbus...I know just where to send you!

In Chicago on business dining alone on my birthday
All excellent suggestions. I love Thai. Can you tell me a little more about TAC? You can bring your own wine???
In Chicago on business dining alone on my birthday
Sad, yes? But hey, there are worst places to be stuck alone on your birthday.
That being said, I'm looking for a place where a newly 39 year old can sit at a bar and have dinner and a decent glass of wine (two, actually) for $40-$50. I'm a huge foodie, but tomorrow I am more concerned about atmosphere. Ideally, I'd like to not feel alone while being alone? Tall order, I know! I like it all, but am having sushi the next day so can skip that. Will be staying downtown.
Thanks, in advance, for any advice!
