PDX - Has anyone tried Olea in the Pearl

I took a chance and took my girlfriend there for Valentine's day. We were both very impressed. My food was as original and fresh as some Bay Area favorites of mine like A Côte and Citron. The service was impeccable and every course was a well-recieved experience. Amazing addition to the thriving pearl district, and the price seems good if you're used to San Francisco/Seattle/New York prices.

Picante in Berkeley

I'm sorry you had a bad experience there. You must have hit them on a bad day. I have no idea if the beans come straight from a can or not, but Picante is an amazing mexican restaurant. Thier guacamole is fresher than ever and their burritios are the best in the bay. They make satasfying, wholesome Mexican without tons of grease. Try the tortilla soup and the burritos before making up your mind... and the guac.

Best Italian in San Francisco

Delfina is an amazing Italian experience in SF. I had the best dessert of my life there; olive oil gelato sprinkled with sea salt and drizzled in olive oil, served with a buttery cookie. Sound odd? It was. But it was amazing. This place is not traditional, and the can be annoyingly slow, but everyone knows what they're doing, and the food is worth the wait.

Improved and expanded Dopo

I completely agree that Dopo knows how to highlight true flavor in the simple dishes. They also have no-nonsense service and an atmosphere that is perfectly situated between casual and trendy.
