Granola cookies?

So I'd like to try and make some granola cookies that resemble those made by Margaret Palca Bakes in Brooklyn. They are rich and buttery and not too sweet, but have a nice bite to them, and are sort of spherical rather than flat. Recipe suggestions?

Flor de calabaza/Zucchini flowers

Anyone know a place to get quesadillas de flor de calabaza (zucchini flower quesadillas)? 'Tis the season and they are oh so delicious, and although I've occasionally seen them on menus in NYC, I've never actually seen a zucchini flower quesadilla.

Thanks!

Weevils in my lentils!!

My quandary was kind of a philosophical/moral one. I know it won't actually hurt me to eat the (few, tiny) cooked bugs, and if I didn't KNOW they were there, I'd never notice or care. I mean, who knows what's in the stuff we eat in restaurants? Is it really over-reacting to throw out perfectly good food because you saw something in it that grosses you out but that you know won't hurt you? And, what's more, I think it's pretty common to have this happen with grains and pulses and such and it will surely happen again.

I'm inclined to bail on this batch and take the excellent advice to freeze future dal purchases and then sift them before consumption.

Weevils in my lentils!!

So I just made a pot of lentils (toor dal, to be specific). Although I washed them really really well before cooking, I noticed some tiny dark floating things on top when they were done, and some tiny worm-like things too (larvae? gross). I skimmed the bugs off, but am a bit grossed out to eat the cooked lentils.

Should I eat them? The bugs were fruit-fly-sized and there were maybe a total of 12 in a big pot of dal.

White Rose brand rice: good or not good?

My local supermarket has a sale on 20-lb bags of White Rose long grain rice for $5.98. Is this a good buy?

NYC source for wheat berries?

In case someone reads this in the future--I've found out that Sahadi's in Brooklyn sells wheat at $.80/lb.

NYC source for wheat berries?

Anyone know where to get wheat berries in New York City (or nearby)? I'm looking to grind my own flour for bread, so less expensive sources would be better. Alternatively, does anyone know of a good mail-order source that will sell at a reasonable price and in less than 50-lb quantities?

THANKS!
