Seeking: NC Triangle Sushi Chef for in-home private dinner You might try Shiki Sushi in Durham. I know they have sent sushi chefs to catered parties to make the nigiri and rolls on site. ----- |

Take it from me, former Vermonter, and skip the maple cotton candy and head for the Honey cotton candy in the next building. Sublime! |
|

Definitely check out the Vietnamese in G'boro. My personal favorite is Saigon and their delicious Lemongrass Beef. ----- |

Cupcake/Sweet Treat Delivery in Triangle Area? Favorite area bakeries are Sugarland in Chapel Hill (http://sugarlandchapelhill.com/), Sweet Memories in Apex (http://sweetmemoriesbakery.com/), and Edible Art Bakery in Raleigh (http://www.edibleartbakery.com/). Edible Art does list delivery for special occasion cakes on their site, but you'll need to call the other two to see if they also offer this service. |

Kid friendly graduation luncheon I'm trying to think of nice places to gather for a 12 person (one of whom is a 3-year-old) graduation luncheon at the end of May. A friend suggested Elmo's, but I'd like the luncheon to be a little more on the "special" side of kid friendly. Also, I'd prefer to stay within Chapel Hill/Durham. I'd appreciate any suggestions and thanks in advance! |

Have you tried Cliff's in Carrboro? If they can order alligator, I'm sure they can get you rabbit. ----- |

Big Ed's was awarded a "City's Best 2008" for breakfast in Raleigh. I've never been, though, so can't recommend. Can anyone report on this place? ----- |

Though I haven't tried it myself, I've heard good things about the Mast Farm Inn & Restaurant in Valle Crucis, NC. Congrats!! |

Must Have Capon [Raleigh/Durham] Yes, capons are usually available to order at any Whole Foods about one month in advance of the holiday. Call or check at the meat counter. |

Like pie, need help. Greensboro, NC Sweet Tooth Heaven is a bakery/coffee shop. Bonita is a former long-time baker for a catering company, and I believe that's how she got her magic ability to look at a picture of whatever you want and not only make it but make it better. |

Like pie, need help. Greensboro, NC My best rec is to contact Bonita at Sweet Tooth Heaven in Mebane. She may not have a revolving pie case, but I'm pretty sure she can make whatever it is you crave, be it pastry, cake or pie. (And I'm a fellow pie-aholic, too!) ----- |

Lunch Spots in Raleigh & @ Southpoint... NOFO? Rick's Diner on Hope Valley Rd closed a while ago, and Pulcinella is not great at all. Best bets for Southpoint area are: Shiki Sushi (has buy 1, get 1 free deal on sushi rolls for dine-in), Baba Ghannouj Med. Bistro, and City Bev. If you're willing to drive 7 minutes down Hope Valley Rd., try Guglhupf or Thai Cafe. ----- Baba Ghannouj Mediterranean Bistro |

Saigon Restaurant in Greensboro - did I miss the secret password? I love Saigon! I gladly make the trek from Durham and call my orders while on the road 15 min. out, so I don't have to wait once seated. My favs are the papaya salad, beef w/ lemongrass (get two or you'll be fighting over this one!), chicken vermicelli, and caramel shrimp. They are very gracious and will spice up the food or hurry up the service (pre-concert), whatever you need. |

Where to find Pastrami in Durham/CH? I buy my pastrami sliced from the Specialty counter at WholeFoods, and I find it yum-my! |

I and a group of friends ordered slices of the coconut cake as part of a birthday celebration. It was airy, creamy, moist, and coconut-y divine. No one wanted to share. I recommend you reserve a slice when ordering dinner as their cake tends to run out fast. Enjoy! |

I'm off to St. Simons/Sea Island, GA for a few days to work, and I'm looking for one or two chow worthy but not super $$ places to eat dinner. Any suggestions? I leave in two days! Thanks in advance. |

I love vietnamese and often make the trek from Durham to eat at Saigon. I'd love to see what else is available, though. Where can I find Van Loi II? Thanks! |

Raleigh, NC- LUNCH- Very Special Occasion You could try Hayes Barton Cafe & Dessertery in Five Points (http://www.hayesbartoncafe.com/). The kids might enjoy the 1940's retro/movie decor and the cakes are a mile high. Congrats! |

raleigh/triangle hounds help me find my brain! Perhaps you're thinking of the now defunct Bakus on Ninth St.? They offered tapas and wine, had a beautiful wood bar, and sheer linens hanging from the ceiling. |

Magnolia Grill Gift Certificate I'd venture to say $100 before wine, so maybe $125-150 with wine. Lucky employee!! |

Mountains over Memorial weekend Hi, fellow Chowhounds! I'm heading to the mountains this weekend, staying around Blowing Rock and Linville Falls area, and wondering if any of you have recs on where to eat. I'm most interested in places to get a nice breakfast before hiking, less interested in bar or bbq joints. Any suggestions will be much appreciated! |

Azure in Chapel Hill - any thoughts? I, too, recently ate at Azure for lunch and was seriously underwhelmed. I had the crab cake on baby greens and the raspberry cobbler-- greens were old and wilted and over dressed, crab cake was strangely wet inside and filled with diced peppers, raspberry cobbler was nicely tangy except there was no sugary crumbly topping to speak of. My brother ate there for his anniversary dinner with his girlfriend and gave me a similar review of the dinner. Better meals elsewhere. I'll not return anytime soon. |

One night away from Chapel Hill. If you're curious about The Franklin, you can stop by and see whatever room they are "now showing". For my money, I'd stick with your original plan to head out of town. Leave first thing in the morning, drive to the beach, and have a real getaway! |

I think Oishii (in Chapel Hill's Timberlyne Village) had some Korean BBQ items on their menu. I haven't been in a while, though, so I can't testify if it's still on there. |

Lunch in Chapel Hill/Carrboro? Some nice places in Chapel Hill/Carrboro for lunch: Crossroads in the Carolina Inn, Panzanella, Weathervane Cafe. If you're able to venture over to Durham, try: Guglhupf, Rue Cler, Piedmont, Grasshopper. You could also take a chance on Alivia's. Enjoy! |
