I'll do that. My 17 year old son is great at critiquing :-) We all enjoy trying different foods and different restaurants
Thanks!
1st Trip to DC--Restaurant Suggestions?
Many thanks to everyone who offered suggestions. We leave tomorrow morning and I have your suggestions packed and ready to go!
1st Trip to DC--Restaurant Suggestions?
Thanks, bromero, for the great info and for taking the time to help us. I'm glad to hear we can safely be outside during the evening hours. Our tours are M-W. We'll probably be out of the Pentagon by 11 PM so if we hurry we should be back by midnight. The Philly cheesesteak looks great, my son can't wait to try it.
1st Trip to DC--Restaurant Suggestions?
Family of 3 will spend 8 nights(Friday thru Friday) at the Omni Shoreham 2500 Calvert Street NW (at Connecticut Ave.) in June for our 1st trip to DC. We will not have a car. We prefer casual restaurants, nothing upscale, teenager says we're on vacation & doesn't want to dress up just to eat.
Most dinners need to be $15 or less but if we find a good casual one for $20 pp we would consider that a couple of times. We're going to try an Ethiopian place. Spicy food is OK and we love seafood and Asian.
We've never been to PA but hope to find a place in DC for a good Philly cheese steak? We'll try 2 Amy's, the highly recommended Mitsisam in the American Indian museum, Teaism and also Hank's Oyster Bar.
I took note of the places mentioned to GaryK today for breakfast around the Omni hotel.
On 3 different days we'll be at the capitol, The Florida House, pentagon, & bureau of engraving so on those days maybe some suggestions for restaurants in those areas. We'll visit the usual sites around the mall, zoo, Smithsonian and Cathedral. Is it safe to walk from the metro station to the Omni after dark, or should we plan to eat and be back at the hotel before dark? The Pentagon tour starts at 10 P.M. at night!! So we'll be getting to the hotel very late that night. I don't even know which transportation run that late.
I took note of the great list posted by pam h on Mar 25, 2009 and we're going at least once Georgetown and Arlington, so we'll have the famous cupcakes one day. We'll only have 1 Sat & Sun so do we need to try Market Lunch at the Eastern Market on the weekend or would Georgetown be less crowded on the weekend? I saw a post for Tortilla Cafe 210 7th St. SE across from Eastern Market. Oh, and is there anywhere to get good Southern fried catfish & hush puppies in the areas I mentioned? r.
Thanks!
