Gigino at Wagner park or Crispo for outdoor birthday dinner.

This evening I have a choice of either Crispo or Gigino at Wagner Park for my birthday dinner. There will be 5 of us in the party. Any thoughts on which would be the better choice for food quality and setting?

Gigino Wagner Park or Central Park Boathouse?

It's my wife's birthday at the end of June and I wanted to take her and a party of 4 to a restaurant that has outdoor seating. I'd like to keep the budget under 30.00 pp. The food isn't really as important as the setting. Which one to choose?
-thanks-

North End Grill -a special birthday destination?

Hello RGR- thanks for your feedback. I've always appreciated your reviews of the many restaurants you've visited here the NYC.Just to give you a sense of what restaurants my wife and I have enjoyed in the past. We love ABC Kitchen, Babbo, Eleven Madison Park (one of your favorites I believe) Blue Hill @ Stone Barns. We seem to gravitate to those Healthful, seasonal, local and organic eateries. We're not really Prix fix people (though the EMP meal was an incredible exception to the rule...and so worth it!) Given that her Bday is March 18th (sunday) I'm finding it difficult to think of a good restaurant that isn't already totally booked. I suppose that's why I thought North End Grill would work as they had availability and they fit our criteria. Any other ideas. Thanks,Lee.

North End Grill -a special birthday destination?

Morning ya all. I made a dinner reservation for my wife's birthday on March 18th at north End Grill. It seems like it's one of the more hot restaurants on the scene right now. We enjoy local, seasonal cuisine. I was also looking into Acme but it seems many people feel it's more about the scene then the food. I have seen Acme's menu and the do put an emphasis on sustainable, seasonal and local cuisine-just what I was looking for. So, any thoughts are appreciated.

Local/seasonal choice for wife's birthday......Acme,North End Grill, N. Spy Food Co. or La Promenade?

Morning folks. My wife's birthday is coming up March 18th. We're both passionate about local/season fair. We want a warm, upbeat and fun environment.-nothing too formal or stiff. Drinks aren't that important...it's all about the food. Was thinking of Acme, North End Grill, N. Spy Food Co.or La Promenade. Your thoughts?

ABC Kitchen or Greensquare Tavern for graduation dinner

Hey folks. After my wife's graduation ceremony later this month we we're hoping to celebrate at a restaurant that focuses on local, seasonal and organic cuisine. There will be five of us in the party. I've already made reservations at ABC Kitchen and Greensquare Market. Both are proximal to each other (U. Square area) and both seem to specialize in the type of foods we're looking for. Any thoughts on which to choose?
-Thx,Lee.

Local,seasonal,organic eats?

Hello Boston! My wife and I will be coming to your area from NYC in late august for two nights. We'll be staying at the Back Bay Hotel. We'd love to find a restaurant that serves local, seasonal and (mostly) organic foods. Not vegetarian-american fare really is what we enjoy....could be french as well. A restaurant similar to ( if your are familiar with this NYC restaurant) Blue Hill. I have noticed that alot of these sort of restaurants are located in the Cambridge area ( ie-The Blue Room,Oleana and Harvest) Do we really need to travel out to that area for this type of dinning? Thanks-Lee

Re:Birthday brunch at Beauty and Essex

Hey gang- it's my wifes birthday this saturday and we were thinking of trying Beauty and Essex for the celebration. We really enjoy eclectic, unique and fun food-and if it's seasonal, local and ideally organic that's a bonus. Has any one out there tried their brunch?

Gluten free dining in times square area?

Two of them are gluten intolerant so does anyone have any suggestions for a decent meal in the times sq vacinity(within a 20 block radius perhaps) that would offer a fair amount of gluten free options? Thanks.

The five and Diamond in Harlem?

I took a party of 4 for brunch today at The 5 and Diamond and I must say that it was a fantastic experience. The portions weren't huge but that was ok for us as we aren't big eaters anyway. The quality of the ingredients was top notch and the chef was VERY accomodating in making some substitutions to some of the dishes. The service was also fantastic-plenty of staff walking around willing to help in any way. I had the burger (rare)-cooked to perfection. My wife had a stergeon salad and she said it wasn't the most flavorful but the freshness of the dish made up for that. Mother in law had the eggs benedict-this I have to say was the standout meal. The eggs were awesome-with a rich yellow yolk and the bread used as base was a cheddar popover-Deliscious! My mother had the kohlrabi salad.Out of all the dished this one was perhaps a bit dissapointing-this size was a bit too small and it seems she left still hungry-but really she needed some sort of protein on that thing. So, I'm really looking forward to returning back for dinner next time- Give this one a try Chowhounders-you won't be dissappoionted!

The five and Diamond in Harlem?

Hey Chowhounders- My wife and I recently moved to Harlems west side and wanted to celebrate this weekend with her mother/father as well as mine-so it'll be 6 people in total. We were hoping to celebrate at an upscale restaurant in Harlem but really there weren't that many to choose from...that is until I heard about this place...... The 5 and Diamond. Any reviews out there?

Midtown eastside-healthy lunch spot for tomorrow?

Hey folks. I'm looking forward to meeting my mother tomorrow who works in midtown and taking her out for lunch. We enjoy healthy (organic is best) cuisine. Not just vegetarian. We've been to Josies in the past , and loved it, but wanted to try another place but with similar foodsThoughts?

affordable ( but still deliscious) brunch with drinks included?

Good morning chowhounders- My wife and I are treating a good friend of our to brunch this weekend. We are on a budget however and this girl Loves to drink. We could easily end up paying for 4-5 $10/12 dollar cocktail drinks (ie-bloody mary) along with a $15 entree=$65- JUST FOR HER! This is waaay out of our budget. And so, were hoping to find a nice brunch place, any neighborhood, good american (possibly eclectic) cuisine with DRINKS INCLUDED. Thanks.

re: Be Gina (upper e. side) Anybody been there?

I noticed this cute restaurant coming home last night @ 82nd st & 2nd Ave. Looks like a nice addition to the Upper E. Side. Took a brief look at the menu -serving salads, grilled panini, baked pastas and many interesting "Be Traditional" Entree choices. It all looked very good! Has anyone out there eatin there?

brunch upper east side? creative american cuisine?

Hey folks I'll be spending brunch tomorrow afternoon with another couple on the upper east side. We're hoping to find a place that serves beyond the basic eggs, pancakes and french toast fair. Creative ( ideally local and/or organic ) cuisine... somewhere along the lines of cookshop? Any thoughts?

Hey folks, my wife and I are treating my mother -in-law to brunch this sunday down in the union square area. It's going to be a beautiful day ( fingers crossed ) so we're hoping to sit outside and people watch. We're looking for (ideally) american cuisine-the more creative and eclectic the better. Hey folks-my wife and I were hoping to have a nice memorial day (monday) dinner on a low budget. Well, a friend suggested fishtail for dinner on monday night as they're offering a 20.00 prefix. Is this restaurant any good? We love fresh seafood and were looking for other suggestions-thanks -Lee.

eclectic/unique american sunday brunch for 4?

My wife and I are meeting old friends we haven't seen in over 15 years for sunday brunch. Here are some of the details: 4 people, eclectic american food preferred ( I thought I'd wow them with interesting, unique foods they couldn't eat in their home town of lancaster PA- not the usual eggs, pancakes etc.) , garden/outdoor dining would be great! , 30.00 per person. Any ideas?
