Spain Restaurant & Bar

Hi guys,

My friend can't help raving about Spain Restaurant & Bar (13th 6/7 Aves), anyone knows about this place? If worth going, what's not to miss?

Thanks!

Is Hop Kee the best cheap Chinese in NY?

can someone tell me where Hop Kee is? Seems like everyone in my company has been talking so highly of it, but no one is able to tell me where it is...

Best Ramen in NYC?

Not sure what's "authentic", but as a huge ramen fan (must have it every week), my personal favorite for ramen is at Men Kui Tei, I also think their gyozas are the best, too!

Best Chirashi?

2 weeks ago I ordered my chirashi at Hatsuhana and thought it was the best I ever had. It was around $20 or slightly above.

Any other good places in Murray Hill?

Last week I passed by Copper Chimney and it was closed, was I wrong?

Vezzo seems like a lovely place, wonder if their pizzas are good...

Any other good places in Murray Hill?

Hello Chows! My company (in Murray Hill) throws a free lunch to each department every week, we've tried quite a few places already, and we are running out of choices! Can anyone suggest other restaurant selections in the neighborhood, around 20 bucks/person?

So far we've been to:

Saburi
Blue Smoke
Houston's
Turkish Kitchen
Minado (ugh..)
Tibetan Kitchen
Various restaurants in Korean Town
Meli Melo
East Sushi

Thanks guys in advance!

Chinatown Ice Cream- Taro, Red Bean, Lychee????

My fave is Ginger flavor, it tastes just like ginger except for the spicy part.

$40 a day in NYC - the Un-Rachel W(r)ay

This is so interesting...

Caprice de Lamazou - smoked salmon sandwich at Lamazou's (27th & 3rd) for around $6.

Hakata Ramen - Menchanko Tei (45th & 3rd) around $8.

Rib Sampler - Blue Smoke (27th btw Lex & Park) - $23.95

Eclair with cafe au lait - Veniero (11th & 1st) around $10

Ok...I definitely went over my 40 bucks...

Yakitori Totto -- recommendations please

We always order "chicken tails". I know it sounds incredibly gross, but they taste so good we always order by dozens!

Ramen Setagaya (らーめん せたが屋) 1st Ave (btw 8 & 9)

I guess it's a matter of personal preference, my girlfriend and I (big ramen fans) ate there last Friday at around 5:30pm so there was no wait at all. To my surprise, none of us enjoyed the noodles, first, the salt-flavored noodle soup was way too salty for us, second, we thought the noodles weren't cooked thoroughly; I love the resistancy in the noodle texture, but our noodles were just hard, barely cooked.

One last thing that added to our disappointment - The place was steamy hot, eating hot noodle soup in an A/C free place is no joke... :)

Yakitori totto - mini report

Yakitori totto is really 1 of my fave places! I like their skewers, even their "chicken tails" taste delicious, the only thing is it gets pricy if we ever want to have fulfiling meals, last time 3 of us ended up paying $150 excluding tips.

Shake Shack - hardly a wait!

I think they purposely want to keep the lines long since these bizzarre long lines are the best advertisement to attract more customers.

overrated restaurants

I second on Shake Shack, had my burger once there last year, I still don't think their burgers are worth the long wait.

what's your fave LAMAZOU sandwhich?

Many Chows have recommended this small sandwich shop Lamazou on 27th & 3rd, today I finally dropped by for lunch and I know I will definitely be heading back for more! Today I played safe and ordered a "Milano" (salami, turkey breast, provolone cheese) and geez I absolutely loved it! They gave me so much meat, the the bread was deliciously fulfiling, thanks Chows for giving me such a great recommendation!

By the way, what do you usually order there? I need recs for my next trips. Thanks!!

ROSE GLAZED DONUTS?

Thanks to all you Chow brothers & sisters :) Slightly disappointed after reading all the not-so-supportive comments about DP, being featured on the travel channel, I was hoping this was a hidden jewel...

Weekend's here, have fun guys!

ROSE GLAZED DONUTS?

Hello! Do you know any shop that bakes and sells "rose donuts"? They are donuts glazed with real rose petals... I saw this shop being introduced on the Travel Channel as one of the best donut shops in the US. Any ideas?

Happy Weekend!

Dinner with music?

Yes Jazz Standard is the place to go! Great quality jazz plus great ribs from Blue Smoke (and pain-free parking around it), nothing can't beat that!
