Seeking good food - no crazy prices - in AC and surrounding area

Los Amigos for pretty good Mexican and Tex-Mex in a comfortable atmosphere.
Bill's Gyro on the boardwalk is a bar that serves decent Greek and American food. Atmosphere, fuggedaboudit except maybe for the "wallpaper" which is bills (dollar bills).

My south jersey reviews

After you asked about Allora, I considered trying it last night. Your post makes me glad I reconsidered and went for Thai!

On the opposite side of Rt 38 from the hotel there's Cambridge Crossing strip mall with Monsoon (nice Indian place); LaScala Pronto (pretty good casual Italian/pizza); Bhan Thai (sp?) and some chains-- Cosi does breakfast, I think. Slightly west of there is Centerton Square- another larger strip mall with several chain restaurants, and across the road from that is Megu Sushi and Barone's (Italian again). Lots of other choices, both upscale and down in the area. Main street Moorestown has Akira/Zhengs Japanese/Chinese, Maurizio's Italian and Passariello's (sort of cafeteria-style Italian- but good food).
My personal favorite for ice cream is Daddy'O's at the intersection of Church Rd, Greentree rd, Hainesport-Mt Laurel rd and another rd? If you're taking rt 295 back to the airport you get off at rt 73 and go south a mile or so to Sage Diner for breakfast.

Which Cranford area is near sport bars, pubs and coffee houses? Is there a "Main Street" ?

The area around North and Union aves is the downtown. A fair selection of nice places around there (it's been many years since I lived there, so I can't give specific recs). Here's a map view:

Hungarian food

When I was last there a couple of years ago, the menu was plain old truck stop/diner stuff; no Hungarian that I remember. I suspect an error on the menuism page (or in my terrible memory).
Just looked at Petro website for Bordentown location. Here's the menu I got:

So either Petro or menuism is wrong.

Any good Greek places in South Jersey?

Two of the places mentioned years ago (Athens and Onassis) are long gone, but there are three replacements nearby:
Estia in Marlton;
Kuzina by Sofia in Cherry Hill(recently changed menu), and
my current go-to is Black Olive in Voorhees.

Are Anahein chiles available near Cranford-Union County?

You might find them under another name. They're also called Hatch chiles and New Mexico chiles (supposedly a little hotter), and ripe ones are chiles colorado. If you can't find any, cubanelles are a passable substitute, available in many supermarkets. My "white" chili (it's green) uses a mix of Anaheim, cubanelle, and jalapeno.

Is there a good diner in Egg Harbor area where I can kill a couple of hours on a Sunday morning

Only been there once, but the Harbor Diner on Rt 30 (White Horse Pike near Rt 50) was pretty good.

Looking for rehearsal dinner recommendations in Moorestown, Mount Laurel, Marlton areas

The only BYO large enough that comes to mind right away is Iliana Cucina, just outside Marlton in Medford.

Historic Taverns in NJ

The Centerton Inn has to be one of the oldest around. I haven't been there in several years, but when I visited it was first-rate in service, food, and atmosphere. Many must agree, since it's been running for over 300 years.

Mt. Laurel for dinner and breakfast

I have to disagree with Truman about the diners. I have been going to the Sage Diner for many years, averaging once a month or so. I have never experienced anything but above-average diner fare and excellent service. No exceptions, I stopped going to the Marlton Diner several years ago due to slow service and below average food. Now I just noticed your post was for meals in August. Hope you found something enjoyable.

HELP! Where is good barbecue near Princeton/Trenton?

Here's a link to an earlier discussion. Whistler's Inn (Cinnaminson) is still there and still good.

Bahn Mi, South Jersey? Anyone?

There is (was?) a place in Millville called Saigon Vietnamese that has "Vietnamese Sandwiches" on the menu, but I never tried them. FWIW, their pho (called "Noodle Soup" on the menu) was pretty good.

Pork Jowl? SNJ area

You can try Bringhurst Meats in Berlin NJ. They are full-service butchers. I know they do bacon, don't know about jowls.

Family friendly, near the Turnpike, in South Jersey

To fill in the others:
Indian- Monsoon at Dearborn Circle, Mount Laurel;
Korean- Sammy Chon's KtownBBQ, Route 70, Cherry Hill;
Chinese- Shanghai Express corner Greentree and Church Roads, Marlton (Evesham on some maps), and to round out Asia, there's Ichi Sushi (and other Japanese) in the same strip mall as Shanghai Express.
All are BYOB and the farthest is Monsoon at most 10 minutes away.

Where to find good pastrami near the Jersey shore?

Wolfie's restaurant in Toms River is very good. They used to have a sign saying something like "If pastrami were religion, this place would be the temple." and I almost think they meant it.

Best sushi in the Marlton/Voorhees area?

My wife, the resident sushi-hound, ranks Ichi as the best around, with Yuki Hana also good. Both are in Marlton.

lunch celebration near southern turnpike

I don't have great things to offer, but:
There's a Charlie Brown's Steakhouse just east of exit 5.
At exit 4, there's the Sage Diner (pretty good) and several major hotels with restaurants that could probably accommodate.
And here's a link to places a little farther from the turnpike than the above:

Good Eats in and around Wildwood Crest?

Sharky's Feeding Frenzy is a funky seafood shack between the Wildwoods and Cape May on Ocean Drive. It's right on the water, has a pretty good seafood and some other things as well. Most (all?) seating is outdoors.

Reherasal Dinner near Medford, NJ

I just (mentally) drove from the Westin to Medford, and the only BYOs I thought of with enough room for you are El Azteca (Mexican) and Deany Boy's Steakhouse in Mt Laurel and Tarantella (Italian) in Medford. All three have two rooms and might give one to you.

Possible to buy Brazil nuts in the shell?

Newark Nut Company has nearly everything nut-related. They have a store in Newark and a warehouse in Cranford where you can pick up orders if you don't want to pay shipping. I've bought a lot from them and never been disappointed.

Looking for mom and pop type Italian restaurants in South Jersey

How's six months for a turnover? Giofano's is now closed and a note in the window says "Re-opening soon as Original Spaghetti House". Makes me dizzy!

cherry hill?

Here are a few in Cherry Hill that I like:
A Little Thai Kitchen
Pho Eden
Chef's Bistro
Andreottis Viennese cafe
The four above are all within a stone's throw near Springdale Road and rt 70
Also, for Italian:
Cafe Aldo Lamberti
Tutti Toscani
or even Ponzio's Diner is not bad.
Aldo, Andreotti, and Ponzio have liquor licenses; the others are BYOB.
