Alki Beach Lunch Recommendation Needed

We have a long layover and will take a taxi to Alki Beach and grab lunch while we are there. We have 6 hours to get some lunch for 4 of us. Anything good, adventurous, tasty... for a family of 4?

Hanapepe, Kauai Dinner on a Friday Night

Where do we eat in Hanapepe while we are there for the Friday Night Art Thing. We eat anything and everything. The more adventurous the better. Thanks.

Great Casual Omakase??

Our best Omakase experience was at Sushi Kaito in Encinitas. Looking for a great restaurant to match our experience. Someplace casual where we can wear shorts or jeans, maybe sit at the bar and talk to the chef, but most importantly is great sushi. Help us. We are staying close to Fisherman's Wharf but have a car and will travel anywhere in the SF area. Thanks for advice in advance.

Easy good dinner in San Jose, on the way to Monterey

Landing at 9:45pm Probably won't make it

Easy good dinner in San Jose, on the way to Monterey

Flyng in on a thursday night to SJC from Hawaii and driving down to Monterey. Looking for some good food in San Jose region on the way down to Monterey close to the airport or highway on the way down to Monterey. Given that we just came from a month in Hawaii and live in Florida where Mexican food sucks, we would love some really authentic great stuff. Fast, casual.... you get the idea. Any good recommendations?

FORGOT TO SAY WE ARE LANDING AT 9:45PM

Musubi

We heard you have to pick it up early at the places that make it (looking at Mana Bu's in honolulu). Can you take it with you to eat later and if so, does it have to stay cold? Do you eat it at room temperature? In other words, I want to take some on a hike and eat it in 3-4 hours. How do I make sure its ok?

La Creperie in Lauderhill

Surprised that this restaurant had never been reviewed or recommended in the past as it has been on my short list to get to over the past few years and never got there.

It showed up on my map back in 2005 when the sun sentinel listed in the top 100 in SE Florida. It is also next door to Rosie Baby (Bar with live restaurant and weak New Orleans cuise) and Su Shin (Sushi place also on my list that I have yet to make it to)

Went there tonight for date night with the wife. The place is medium sized with two front rooms, each with around 10-15 tables. I understand they have a private room but never looked for it or saw it. The decor is dated with wood paneling and old french pictures, posters, and nick nacks. Light frenchy music. White table clothes but not stuffy in the least. Actually quite relaxed for a nice restaurant.

The service was great. The women who met us at the door (??owner-Suzy???) was cordial and sweet and spoke in a beautiful french accent. She also took our orders and was patient while we hemmed and hawed about what crepe to order. She provided good advice and since the wife and I wanted to the same crepes, she did a nice job of offering to serve them one at a time and then splitting them at the table.

For appetizers, the wife had the French Onion soup which I typically don't like due to the huge salt content but this one was great as was the lovely melted cheese on top. The size of the bowl of soup was huge and it was FILLING to say the least. I had the escargot with tons of garlic butter. Six in the shell. From afar, our server noticed me using up all the bread, and quickly brought out a huge basket to continue my dipping. I still don't know if I like escargot but I know I love the garlic butter! Other choices which sounded very good where home made country pate made from chicken and pork and the viichyssoise with leeks.

There are non crepe offering for dinner such as duck, frog legs, quiche, but we didn't go there for that stuff. It was crepes or nothing!

We started with a crepe of Merguez sausage, Blue Cheese, and Ratatouille. Very big and very filling. Bold flavors. Certainly not for the faint of heart. We very much liked it. The dinner up to this point was so filling, the wife could barely try the next crepe and we took 1/2 of it home to one of the little ones to snack on. Our second crepe was the Seafood crepe featuring shrimp, scallop, perch, and perhaps tilapia? It was in a light white sauce which I had them add cheese to, in an attempt to raise the decadence quotient. It worked. Love it. Once again, so filling. Not as bold in flavor as the Merguez but it packed a punch none the less. There many others to choose from but we were so happy with our two choices. Many, many vegeterian choices.

Unfortunately, we were so full that we couldn't do a dessert crepe which I was dying to try. Fruit, chocolate, ice cream and flaky goodness will have to wait.

Counting a nice bottle of red for $28, the bill with a nice tip was a bit over $100 which I thought was decent for the food volume. I want to come back on a thursday when they run a special of about $78 for a 5 course AND a bottle of wine. We will definitely come back for dinner perhaps even with the kids as I think my kids are well behaved and will easily find crepes they will enjoy but most of all, to get the deserts. The place works best for a date night or a group of friends looking for a quiet night out. Gave it 4 stars. Dinged it for not being a financial bargain and the dated decor. Strengths are the food and service which is what makes it a great restaurant.

Lunch and Dinner Downtown near Aquarium/Centenial Park

Going to spend a weekeday in mid march in dwnt Atlanta. MLK Nat Historic Site then drive over to the Aquarium/World of Coke/Centenial Park area for the rest of the day.

Looking for interesting, excellent food for lunch or dinner. Price doesn't matter and we eat EVERYTHING. Just the best. The more interesting the better. We are a family of four with kids ages 8 and 10 who can eat at the finest restaurants and weird ethnic restaurants . Fine dining with suits and ties wont work though as we will be spending the day walking around in casual clothes. Although we will have a car, I would prefer to walk.

Thank you in advance for recommendations.

Mt. Pleasant area lunch recommendation please

Heading between Ft. Moultrie and Charles Pinckney Nat Historic Site (1254 Long Point Road ) and looking for a good place to stop for lunch with my wife and two kids (ages 8 and 9). We eat pretty much anything and prefer good local food. I have two recommendations from non chowhound sites:

Gullah Cuisine – Regional Gullah food.
117 US 17N Mt. Pleasant 843-881-9076

Momma Brown’s
1471 Ben Sawyer Rd, Mt. Pleasant 843-849-8802

Are either of these places worth stopping at or is there some place else?

Chicago Birthday Dinner with Kids and some Vegeterians

Tall order for you guys! Coming into Chicago for a weekend in January to see family. It will be my wive's birthday and would like to have a nice dinner with about 7 people which includes 3 kids up to age 8. The other couple are vegeterians but they eat fish/eggs/cheese. Need a nice place with good options. We are pretty adventurous and eat anything although I would not hit a place for cuban, carribean, or south american food as we are from florida and have plenty of that down here. My wife is high on Rick Bayless and we are considering Frontera Grill as an example of a place we are thinking of. Any other good options come to mind??

Anyone been to Gabose for Korean? Looking for good eats in Fort Lauderdale...

Interestingly enough, Gabose is one of our favorite restaurants over the past 8 years of living down here in Florida. While we are very caucasian, I think the wife and I are pretty good judges of authentic Korean having been eating it constantly for the past 14 years and even going so far as making our own Korean BBQ at home not to mention home made Kimchi (I kid you not)

We absolutely love Gabose and feel it is by far the best Korean we have had in the area. Sushi Yoshi in Boca on 441 doesn't do nearly the job. Wanfu on Sample in Pompano makes a nice Jampong but otherwise its a really chinese place.

Gabose excels at a few things. Their Korean Pancake, with seafood or scallions, is the best I have ever had and a must as an appetizer. The giganto boiling cauldrons of seafood stew are my favorite. Expensive but enough easily for two. A 1/2 Dozeon kinds on the menu and all awesome. The stir fried squid - Ojinko Bokum - is my wife new favorite. Hot, hot, and more hot with great flavor. Over rice, it is killer in more ways then one. The Japchai is by far the best version of this dish I have ever had. The Dol Sot Bi Bim Bop is also a typical great version of the classic Korean dish of leftovers.

In terms of their table top BBQ, yes their charcoal grill is great with all the meats to choose from. To me, a bit boring, but we frequently get it as part of the overall meal for everyone to pick at. My wife feels that at least it feels healthy and is low in carbs.

Happy eating at Gabose. Truly one of the great restaurants in Broward.

HELP! Last minute trip to Boston and need quick recommendations for a family of 4!!!!

Thanks for the quick reply.

As far as italian, we just aren't into much classic Italian and end up searching high and low to find the one or two things on the menu that we would really desire. As for steaks, my wife makes a killer at home so no need to eat it out.

Nepture Oyster Menu may be a bit much for lunch looking at the menu. Will check it out more later. Summer Shack looks pretty awesome.

Eastern Standard's menu had me as soon as I noticed the Marrow Bone. I've been craving one since last summer at Black Hoof in Toronto. Wonder what the Offal of the day will be!

Still need more recommendations. Just wrote down Ming Tsai's Blue Giner and a couple of Chinatown places that serves XLB. Keep them coming!

HELP! Last minute trip to Boston and need quick recommendations for a family of 4!!!!

Just booked a last minute trip to Boston for three nights and have no time to do my typical research on restaurants. Heck, I haven't even firmly booked my hotel yet. I need some serious recommendations quick!

We are a family of 4 with 2 kids ages 7 and 8 who love all kinds of food although our least favorite would be a steak joint or Italian. We are blessed in that we can afford most restaurants. We like big flavors and lively restaurants. We will be touring all over the area. Restaurants could be almost anywhere in the area!!

A few things I know we need are:
Lunch in the Harvard area (Garden Cellar? Petsi?)
Lunch in Faneuil Hall?
Need to Eat Steamer Clams somewhere as I here they are the best

Shisito peppers craving

Marumi in Planation has them on the menu if you are interested in some grilled with bonito on top

Modern Mexican/SW Restaurant Needed

The initial revews on this restaurant are fantastic dating as far back as 2008 however lately, the reviews have not been that good. Looks like the mole chef is no longer cooking for them. Do you know otherwise?

The art of Rocio Camacho at Moles La Tia

Any update? We are heading to LA at the end of the year for vacation and this restaurant appeals to us very much!

Modern Mexican/SW Restaurant Needed

We are coming in from out of town for a vacation in LA. I am planning out our dinners and we are looking for a great contemporary southwest or mexican restaurant.

We are a family of 4 with 2 kids ages 7 and 8 who love food. We are blessed in that we can afford most restaurants. We like big flavors and lively restaurants. We will be touring all over the area but are based in Beverly Hills. Restaurants could be almost anywhere in the area from the coast as far east as Downtown. Please Help!!! What can't we miss!!!

one, maybe two nights in Carlsbad/SD for dinner- Where must we go?

I did all 3 on my vacation to SD last year and I would have to say that Point Loma absolutely blew me away. Seafood so fresh so simple on white bread at the Marina. So awesome. Mama Testa was nice but I preferred the Tacos from Tacos El Gordo in Chula Vista. That was special. Super Cocina was nice but it didn't blow me away. I would say that Point Loma and Tacos El Gordo are top notch lunch joints. Of the places we did for dinner, I most enjoyed Kaito, Urban Solace, and Nine-Ten the best.

2 Nights in Philly - For Dinner?

We are a family of five including a grandma and two "adventurous" young boys ages 8 and 9. We are staying downtown and have a car and are considering a number of restaurants for dinner.

The wife likes the looks of Jose Garces' restaurants, particularly Amada which I think fits into our greats interests.

Zahav looks interesting (High end Israeli?) but I'm not sold on it. We really, really go for asian and were thinking about Morimoto but my mom won't appreciate or eat sushi. We don't go for Italian really. Looked at Koo Zee Doo but we had not the best meal at a high end Portugese place in Toronto. We are not big on Greek (Kanella). Nouveau American cusine is great as long as its preogressive and interesting. Anything else out there that is interesting, fun, perhaps asian (but not necessary). We like big flavors and a lively atmosphere. Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

Philly Cheese Steak Close to Independence?

I will be staying in Philly for the night and heading over to Reading Terminal on the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving and heading back to see my family in Jersey. Thanks for the Reading Termincal recommendation.... you read my mind! Future posts coming your way on what to eat for dinner for a couple of nights also!
