Aloft Philly Airport

East Passyunk Ave is about a 15 minute drive away and about 8 miles. Lots of great places there - just search for Passyunk Ave on this board. Also near there (E P-yunk) is South Philly Tap Room but I am not sure it would show up on an E. Passyunk search. http://www.southphiladelphiataproom.com/

Philly style German butter cake?

We never had buttercake in my house as a child that I recall - my parents were both health care professionals and we ate on the healthier side (skim milk and salads in the mid-60s). But my first buttercake experience was from a small corner bakery around the corner from our school/church in East Oak Lane/Olney. I was about 11 years old and skipped Mass with a friend, went and got a half buttercake and sat on someone's steps and ate it. Wonderful! But I couldn't tell anyone because I was supposed to be at church!

Cannellinni Beans

Check the Fair Food Farmstand in the Reading Terminal for veal kidneys - and if they dont have them ask - they will get them for you from their veal people - they will be kidneys from pastured, grass fed veal.

Philly weekend - meals with and w/o kids

Better suited for lunch, but in Franklin Square (6th and Race Sts) there is Square Burger (Burgers, dogs and salad - and smaller burgers, so good for little hands) and a carousel, playground and miniature golf with city landmarks as the holes!

Tipping Suggestions - Farm & Fisherman Tavern [moved from Philadelphia]

I remember people saying years ago that you tip on the food total at one percentage (I think this was when 15% was the norm) and then tip on wine, etc. at a second lessor percentage (say, 10%) and never on the tax.
but my tipping policy is pretty much just like yours cgarner ; )

The Pass, new BYOB in Rosemont

Matt was usually at the Headhouse market himself. I was lucky to eat at the Pass on a Sat and talk to Matt about it on Sunday in the fall. I have never been disappointed in his charcuterie! Will have to get to that Sunday dinner.

First time to be served dregs...Ugh :(

Red wine has dregs, if you weren't buying an expensive glass I wouldn't expect it to be decanted. Found some unexpected residue in my home glass recently, maybe weather?

Your recs for Celebratory dinner Center City area

I live in Queen Village and I consider my neighborhood and other local hoods that surround (within a mile or so) to be center city.
