I wanted to suggest South Philly Tap Room but hesitated because I think a hound posted recently that things are not as good as they were previously? and how about P.O.P.E.?

We were there in June 2014 with two out of town foodies and we all enjoyed our meals immensely. I cant recall exactly what we had - we had just gotten married at city hall - but we all raved.

Where to buy cheese curds?

Valley Shepard Creamery in the Reading Terminal Market has them. Fair Food Farmstand, also in the RTM, has them sometimes - not sure who supplies them, it might be someone closer to you.

Food storage Russian roulette: what's your riskiest food safety gamble that went okay?

Cream of crab soup. Eaten at 8PM. Remainder left out over night (approx temp 62 F) and not refrigerated until 9AM. Ate it, as did others in my household (full disclosure of course, adults) no problems!

Where to find Bamba, the Jewish peanut snack

This has been all over the news the last few days because it has been a big piece of figuring out peanut allergies in children - Israeli children have far fewer peanut allergies apparently because they eat these from s very early age

Caveat: I really wanted a weekend, so I didn't ask too much about weekdays except Thursdays.

What to do in Philadelphia this weekend?

Check out Fair Food Farms for locally sourced products - produce, meats, pickles, cheeses (some exceptional ones), dairy, honey, etc. Also Valley Shepard Creamery makes some mean grilled cheese sandwiches with their own and other carefully curated cheeses as well as having those cheeses available for purchase.

Weekend in March

If you are interested in cookware it might be worth a trip to the Italian Market (9th Street mostly between Christian and Washington) There is Fante's Cookware http://www.fantes.com/about and an array of butchers, Cheese shops (Claudio's and the original DiBruno Brothers) produce and now Mexican vendors - including an amazing tortillaria.

One bottle of wine to take to the Farm and the Fisherman?

Good idea, Boognish. Sadly, I don't have time to get there today.

One bottle of wine to take to the Farm and the Fisherman?

I was leaning toward a pinot noir - I have a couple of very nice ones. With this weather I am leaning more toward meat than fish, but the menu they currently have posted is more seafood heavy. We may just have to break down and bring two bottles. And no, we havent been there before and I will be getting the beet dish - that much I know!

Not knowing what will be ordered can anyone suggest a wine (just a type, not a specific bottle unless you want too!) to bring to Farm and Fisherman? Going a tomorrow - Thursday 2/19

High-end steaks in Reading Terminal

and Country Time Pork and the porchetta, pates, etc are all made in house from the same meats by Nick Macri who was chef at SouthWark and had been helping Border Springs with the stand before taking it over and expanding it.

D'Angelo's is great for game, house made sausages, and weygu. Sonny (D'Angelo) is a bit gruff but his product makes up for it for most of us!

I'd check out Esposito's in the Italian Market (9th street between Washington and Christian) - a mile or two off I-95, 1/2 mile or so from Ippolito's. Alternately, there is a small market on Passyunk Ave around the corner from Ippolito's, Green Aisle Grocery and they carry beef from local farmers - might want to call though if you are looking for a roast. I know they usually have steaks in stock.

I'd contact Samuel and Sons or their retail arm, Ippolitos, about the crawfish. They usually have frozen crawfish meat but they will get tails or live if in season if you call ahead.
What is your definition of good beef? (Dry aged? Grass fed? Weygu?)

You might try talking to Nick Macri who recently took over the Border Springs Lamb shop in the RTM. He is carrying all sorts of meats now and making cured meats, I dont know if he plans on smoking but he has all sorts of tongues!
