Near Lincoln Field for NCAA Lacrosse May 23-25

I was going to suggest pastaficio's also. You can picnic in FDR park if you are so inclined, it is nearby. In the Italian Market area consider any of our Mexican places. Taqueria de Pueblo is a favorite of mine. On Washington Ave at 6th street there is Pho Ha and the newly opened Lee's Cafe for Vietnamese. Pho Ha has great pho and Lee's bahn mi are very good (they had another shop that served only Bahn mi before this). Lee's also has pho but I haven't tried it yet.

+1 on the lentil fritters and thousand layer bread! I also enjoy the mango salad and the Night Market noodles.

Eli Kulp inujred in Amtrak Tragedy

Eli Kulp tweeted this morning that he appreciated everyone's well wishes, that he is doing OK but has a long road ahead of him. He said he would be more visible in the near future.

Positive thoughts going out to his family and restaurant family - hoping he recovers fully and quickly!

Say goodbye to Kanella BYOB

And while a little out of the way for some of you (I can easily walk to Kanella South)parking in that area is fairly easy, although there are no lots. Village Belle had valet parking for that reason

If you've been to Laurel, how did you get a reservation?

I have a reservation for Thursday of this week. I had called in Feb trying to get an April reservation without luck, but they told me they would be opening their May book on the first business day (their business day) in March. I called that day and got my reservation - there was no availability on open table that day so my guess is they only go to open table once they have a few days of phone reservations. I am assuming they opened their July book on Fri, May 1st and that the August book will open Tuesday, June 2.

Birthday Party planning - help needed with the menu

I'm a fresh lime juice snob myself. I'm not sure where you are located, but here in Philadelphia I have a fresh squeezed juice vendor who will sell me freshly squeezed lime juice. If I want more than a quart I have to call ahead. They do lemon juice too, these are never on the shelves, you have to ask but they do it for restaurants as well!

Starting to plan a trip to Philly in July, seeking recommendations!

Hungryintheburbs did a nice Chinatown list - make sure if you go looking for Dim Sum Garden that you go to the one on Race Street not 10th. To the list I'd add E Mei - a Szechuan restaurant on Arch Street

Ever had Mancuso's Ricotta

Definitely not the same level of banter at Mancuso's as there is at Claudio's

oh - sorry to hear that! I was there in December and had the octopus which I thought was very good, but that's all I had.

Menus featuring ramps and morels right now?

teach me to rely on the internet for factual information (I wasnt sure about the wild leek thing but when I googled ramps it said ramps, aka wild leeks!)

Ever had Mancuso's Ricotta

I use one or the other depending on what's easier for me to get on any given day. Mancuso's is denser/dryer than Claudio's creamier style and the taste reflects that - Claudio's has a more pronounced cream/milk flavor. I like them both!

Menus featuring ramps and morels right now?

Ramps are foraged, spring onions are cultivated. I am pretty sure ramps and wild leeks are the same thing. Ramps taste like a combo of garlic and onion and they have a very garlic-y aroma. Spring onions look like a regular leek but with a large bulb - or an over sized scallion. They taste like an onion - just a little fresher (because they are!)

Lo Spiedo also has chicken wings - not sure what is on them as I haven't had them.

In the Reading Terminal Market, there is an Amish vendor who does wings on a rotisserie that are otherwise plain.

Menus featuring ramps and morels right now?

Ramps are all over Philly right now. Pick any restaurant that changes their menu weekly and they'll likely have them. I know someone said Fuji in Haddonfield had a dish (it was on the fiddleheads thread).

Where to have dinner after we share vows?

Do be aware of the various graduation weekends for our local universities - they book up many restaurants in the city!

Where to have dinner after we share vows?

My first thought was Bistrot La Minette. Osteria has the wine room for private dining also. I havent been to Estia's private room.

That's the name of the bakery I couldn't remember in my reply above - thank you!

Onion bagels

Rolings in Elkins Park by the train station, South Street bagels and the bagels at 4th street deli are all good and have real onions and lots of them - also the bakery at 3rd and Poplar that I am drawing a blank on their name right now.
