Does anyone have a suggestion of how to find bacon rind

Try Martins in the Reading Terminal Market. They sell slab bacon - which comes with the rind on it.

La Peg -- New Brasserie Opening next week

I came back here because I realized I should have said I have only been to Morgan's Pier on weekdays, not weekends and that is when I have been able to park. I am adventuresome when it comes to parking - whatever that little street is that comes in between Race and Callowhill - leads to a small residential area and it always seems to have an available space or two.

La Peg -- New Brasserie Opening next week

When I have gone to Morgan's Pier (across the street) I have usually been able to park on Delaware Ave or on the side street just north of Race St. But there is a parking lot on Delaware Ave north of Race also (with weird hours it seems to me)

Cafe Nhu Y - 8th and Christian - closed

So I wanted a bahn mi for lunch on Monday and discovered that my go to spot, Cafe Nhu Y had closed (apparently for a while since there is a new place there Lya's (?) Cafe). So I went to Ba Le at 6th and Washington - but is there somewhere with better bahn mi in the area?

Dessert Italian Style

Marscapone is a cheese. I believe you were thinking of Moscato, the sweet wine.

Need to feed 50 people on the cheap but good - ideas?

You can do pulled chicken and it is best made from thighs so they can usually be found pretty cheap - I think Bon Appetit had a recipe a few years back

Need recs for good restos for conference in October

Bistrot La Minette is about a mile from the Convention Center and has a small side room that holds up to 18 people - sometimes there are several small groups in there - that would work for your larger group. Very nice French bistro food.

Where to find an inspired slice of pie?

CGarner, your post reminded me that Griggstown Quail Farm (near Princeton, but at the headhouse market and others) has some very good fruit pies as well!

dining solo in philly

Osteria and Alla Spina, both Vetri places on North Broad near Fairmount Ave, are good for solo diners. I agree about Serpico (not familiar with solo dining at the others agozoic recs.

Where to find the best cherries in Philadelphia area?

on Sunday, Dave from Beechwood Farms said he'd have cherries at this week's farmers market (old City today) but likely not at Sunday's headhouse.

Where to find the best cherries in Philadelphia area?

They still had lots of Cherries at last week's Headhouse farmers market - but Beechwood at least said it may be the last week. Three Springs didn't say.

Check out Fair Food Farms - this time of year they might have to order one for you but it would only take a couple of days

Looking for a foodie gift in Emerald Isle

Family heading to Emerald Isle and we'd like to send them a foodie gift to thank them for joining us for a very special occasion right before they were leaving. Is there a wonderful cheese shop that would do a tray or basket? A great bakery that we could get a breakfast basket from? A restaurant that is a must do? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Last minute cocktail snack ideas, please!

Do you have a decent Italian deli? Get one big piece of your favorite cheese and assorted antipasti - salami, marinated artichokes, olives, roasted red peppers, whatever else looks good!I also do the same thing from a local greek establishment - hummus, babaganoush, dolmades, feta and spanakopita.

Lunch on a Monday: convenient to Roxborough and Center City, but not

How about Fiorino in East Falls?
