The best overall dining experience for me was a double Birthday celebration, for my son and Mother-in-law, at the Shalishan Lodge on the Oregon Coast. I was surrounded by loved ones and everybody was in a happy mood. The restaurant atmosphere and view was stunning. The food was rock-solid American. I think I ordered grilled halibut. But the food on my plate was not that important to me. I would have been satisfied with mac and cheese.
My current drink of choice:
Morning - hot coffee. Noon - cranberry juice or iced tea. Supper time - a red wine from California.
I really wish I could:
have a picnic lunch with my wife whenever the weather is pleasant.
My "Go-to" dinner party dish:
None. But you can count on me for some good wine.
My favorite comfort food:
homemade pizza - everyone gets to pick their favorite topping then we divide and conquer.
My top 5 favorite restaurants:
If you love Italian food, like I do, you are in luck in Houston, Texas. I like the ones that are not too prissy or pricey, and they must be inside the loop - like Petranella's, for instance. There are many others and are not hard to find.
My most tattered cookbooks:
An ancient cookbook titled "Betty Crocker's Dinner for Two Cookbook" claims the prize as the most used and abused book in our cooking library. I still use it for Shrimp Creole.
