I am looking for good restos in Ft. Myers, Estero, and Naples. Particularly a good breakfast place. In other suggestions are appreciated. We like all kinds of food -- price doesn't matter -- just good food.

Traveling to Nashville in a few weeks and had a question. I see this meat and 3 meal is popular in Nashville. I am a vegetarian--can I get all veggies instead of meat? I think Arnold's seems to be the most popular recommendation.

We are staying at Opryland--any meat and 3's out there?

Go to Hillbilly Tea. Food is outstanding. They don't have a bar but you'll be fine eating alone.

You might also try Proof on Main. And take a look at the art work in the 21C hotel (Proof and the hotel are connected) while you're there. You'll be amazed. You can also eat in Proof's bar which is cool. Have a look at Randy (the statue at the end of the bar) while you're there.

You can hop on the trolley and eat at Garage Bar. It's owned by the same folks who own Proof. Their breakfast is fantastic. Haven't eaten dinner there.

Near Garage Bar is the Mayan Cafe. Probably the best restaurant in Louisville. Go there. Trust me.

I am looking for vegetarian restaurants in Nashville. I do eat fish so will eat somewhere that has good fish.

Breakfast is my favorite meal. I am staying at Opryland but will have a car so I certainly am willing to go downtown for breakfast.

I called CDA and they no longer offer the prix fixe menu on Sunday nights.

Thanks for comments. I do not want to eat at any chain restaurants (and we do have a Fogo where I live).

I wish that one of Bayliss's restaurants was open on Sunday.

Please give me some other options. We can always go to Hub 51 - it's good and reliable.

Howdy,

Will be coming to Chicago in a few weeks to celebrate husband's 50th birthday. We are frequent travelers to the city and have eaten at a lot of great places over the past 20 years. I was wondering if anyone had a resto suggestion for a place with a prix fixe menu on a Sunday night. I recall that Cafe des Architetes used to have this but I don't see that it's offered anymore (we are staying at the Sofitel).

Places we've eaten have been Cafe Spiaggia, Topolobambo, Fox and Obel, Wishbone (we love breakfast hence going to WB and F&O frequently), Everest, Mercat La Planxa, and the Four Seasons for brunch (and there are too many others to list).

I thought about going to Blackbird as we haven't been there but it's just a thought (I looked at Girl and the Goat and as usual there are no reservations available).

In any case, suggestions are welcomed. And I guess it doesn't need to be prix fixe -- just good food.

i will be wandering alone in the Garden district this week -- I plan on taking the street car from downtown. Is there a casual restaurant to get a bite to eat? I've read about Coquette and Commander's Palace (I know there's a $20 lunch special but don't want to partake as we may go there for dinner) but I don't really want to go there by myself.

I am going to the cemetery there and then wander around on Magazine Street to have a look in the shops.

Traveling to NO for the first time on Tuesday.

We are staying at the Intercontinental -- hubby will be attending a conference. We need a place to get a quick inexpensive breakfast each day before the conference starts. I know Luke is right across the street but it's not cheap and I also saw someone recommended the Store for brekkie but reviews are not good online.

I thought about Stanley but it's a 15 minute walk which wouldn't usually matter but he'll be pressed for time so we need something fast.

I am traveling to Amsterdam in 3 weeks and looking for recommendations for reasonably priced meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

I've found Broot Bert, Japanese Pancake World, Singel 404, La Perla, and Tokoman, and some Thai place in China town that I can't recall name.

I will probably eat at De Prins and Cafe Luxembourg while there.

I don't want to go to really expensive places and Amsterdam seems to be an expensive place to dine (I will be traveling to South Africa after Amsterdam and I've got some really fantastic meals planned there).

Breakfast is our favorite meal and we usually prefer to eat a late breakfast (more of a brunch meal).

I am staying at the Moevenpick City Center -- not too many restos near there although I know Jamie Oliver's place is near there but reviews are not kind.

Puccini Bonbon is on my list!

Any pointers you have are appreciated.

We've eaten at Campagnola and Francesca's North. I wasn't looking necessarily for Italian.
Michael and Inovasi look lovely and would be fine for the 2 of us but not the rest of the family (we are the foodies).
Prairie Grass Cafe is a nice option (I actually looked at it right after I posted my question) so this one might be the winner.

Hi,

Celebrating hubby's 50th birthday in April and I need to find a restaurant on the North Shore -- group will consist of kids ages 9 and 11, a 95 year old grandmother and various other ages in between. I don't want anything too fancy (actually I would but the rest of the family will not like that) and it needs to have easy and parking because of the 95 year old grandmother.

I thought about Di Pescara at Northbrook but haven't come up with anything beyond that (hubby is from Chicago but we do not live there although we do visit every 3 months or so).

Suggestions are welcome.

We will be in South Beach again for our yearly trip to your lovely city.

I wanted to write a few things about our last trip. We ate brunch at Talula's and I must say it was outstanding. Since it's been a year ago, I don't recall all the dishes but hubby and I considered the food phenomenal.

We also took a cab and ate at MGFD for lunch---believe it was a pastrami sandwich that hubby ate and he said it was the best sandwich PERIOD that he had ever eaten.

And, Matarello's.....I am dreaming of eating there again in a few weeks. We actually ate there twice during our visit. The gentleman who worked there--Andrea--was so kind and the food was fantastic.

For Miami Spice, we ate at Scarpetta's---quite lovely dinner. We ate outside and food was yummy!

We'll be there in a few weeks--staying at the Lowe's. On my short list to return to is Matarello's. From reading reviews of MS, there doesn't seem to be a real home run yet. We would need to eat in SB and nothing stands out.

If you have suggestions, I am all ears.

I called B & B and they serve breakfast from 10a-12p every day.

I know, I know....this question gets asked a thousand times on the board and I know there have been numerous responses (I've looked at posts back to 10/08) but I am asking again just in case I have missed something.

Breakfast is our favorite meal. We will be in SB Thursday-Monday. I haven't decided if I want to do brunch somewhere and if we do have brunch somewhere, I want to avoid places like the Ritz and the Biltmore.

If it helps, we are staying at the Gansevoort.

So far, recommendations seem to be:

Nemo's
Clarke's
Au Pied de Cochon
Front Porch (breakfast only)

What about the News Cafe? We haven't been there in 2 yrs. but it seems to have gone downhill. We have eaten at the Front Porch for breakfast and I recall it as being just o.k.

I made a reservation at Michy's. I think I may go to Michael's for lunch--several of you commented on his pastrami sandwich that sounds out of this world. My Jewish husband will love that!
Sorry to ask but I do not know the area--is the neighborhood where Michy's is located dangerous? I will be cabbing it over from SB so we would just hop out and go into the restaurant--hadn't planned on wandering around.

Does Michy's have outside seating?

I'm visiting over Labor Day and currently have reservations at Scarpetta (D), The Restaurant at the Setai (D), and DeVito's (L). I am trying to decide on dinner for one more night. I won't have a car so I'll take a cab ride from SB to one of these places. Shall I make reservations at Michy's or Michael's? I am leaning towards Michy's based on feedback from the board (and their Miami Spice menu sounds wonderful and all reviews have been positive).

I'll be coming to SoBe in September. Do most of the restaurants participating in Miami Spice not post their menus? I didn't see anything listed at Hakkasan, Scarpetta, or OLA. Is this customary because the menu changes daily (or weekly)?
We have the same sort of dining out event in Indianapolis and the restaurants do post their menus.
Just wondering......thanks for your help.

It's been several years since we've been to NYC and I'm looking for suggestions for reasonably priced dining options for b, l, and d (we're staying in NJ because I have a conference there).

We've been to Jean George for their lunch special (it was out of this world!) on our last visit (also have eaten at Mercer Kitchen, Stage Deli, and the other deli in mid-town--can't recall name). Reviewing the board, the options that sound good so far are:

Ssam Bar
Cafe Zaiya
Resto
Balthazar (for breakfast)
Clinton St. Baking Co.

Favorite foods to eat are Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Middle Eastern, Italian, Indian, brasserie style food, and deli style (yes, we're planning a visit to Katz's and Russ and Daughters).

We have in the past eaten at high end restaurants but on this trip, I'm trying to not break the bank on eating out. Hubby and I usually like to share entrees--seems to be o.k. in NYC to do this.

I think we will be mainly be in the LES, LWS, and mid-town (and we'll go elsewhere in Manhattan if there's somewhere you recommend that we shouldn't miss). I plan on visiting Chinatown and I know there are many options for cheap eats there (the pork buns and dim sum sound delicious).

Yes, I know this subject has been asked about before but I wanted to see if there's something that I might have missed.

Hi,

Need some advice. I'm planning a business dinner for my boss for April. There are app. 20 people. They will be at a meeting first in Rosslyn and I wanted to have them come over to D.C. for dinner. I've looked at the boards and have seen recommendations (Equinox, Zaytinya, and Caucus Room appeal to me) but I don't know if that's going to work for my boss. I need something nice with good food but not pretentious. This group is from around the world so it would be preferable if they could go somewhere where they could have choices i.e. steak, chicken, veggie option. I don't think I want to pick a particular ethnic cuisine since they are from western Europe (one of them is from Turkey) and so I don't think it's a good idea to go with Italian or French.
