Rehearsal dinner venue around Northampton for maybe 30 people?

What about Johnny's Tavern in Amherst? They have a private dining room that I think would accommodate that many. I have only been there a few times but was very pleased with it. They have a nice, simple but varied menu.

Pimm's Cup

I'm sort of with you Poindexter, but I like San Pellegrino Aranciata with my Pimm's. Now that I live in New England I use Polar Seltzer Orange Dry, since it's easier to find.

What do you serve with steak?

Roasted cauliflower, as in this recipe:

You have to get it really browned and crispy. It's a revelation.

Firstnight NoHo

I recently discovered Cushman Market and Cafe in Amherst. The menu on their website doesn't list all of their breakfast items. They also have omelets, scrambles and an amazing-sounding challah french toast (I haven't tried it yet). They have great coffee and a nice comfortable atmosphere. It's on the north edge of Amherst, and could be on the way to Montague and the Night Kitchen, so I think it's a good option for breakfast instead of Lady Killigrew. I'm less than enthused with the food at the Lady Killigrew, frankly. It's a little one-dimensional.

Texas mexican restaurant in downtown Sacramento

Did you find the Yelp page?

I haven't eaten there since they opened, but my parents have. They know the owners.

Lunch near the Capitol (N and 15th)

Dad's Deli at 13th and S has great sandwiches and salads. It's a bit of a walk, but not too bad.

Pie in Sacramento!

I agree! I had a mixed berry pie and a lemon tart for my birthday, and they were both wonderful. The pie crust was perfectly flaky, with a nice buttery flavor, and the filling was all berries with maybe the tiniest bit of sugar.

I had two pies because the lemon tart that we ordered cracked ever so slightly when she took it out of the oven, so she gave it to us free. So you can add great customer service to their list of virtues!

I can't wait to go back for their savory offerings.

Sacramento Board

I would like that! Searching "Sacramento" doesn't work too well because the results aren't date sorted.

I wonder how many Sacramento Chowhounds there are?

cilantro--can it be frozen?

There was a chef on Martha Stewart the other day who showed his tip for freezing fresh thyme. I don't see why it wouldn't work for cilantro too. He basically blanched it in boiling water for a few seconds (using a mesh strainer), then plunged it into ice water. He said that preserved the color. Then he squeezed the water out and bundled it into plastic wrap.
