Lunch joints in downtown San Diego
Staying in downtown San Diego for a wedding. Driving back to LA on Sunday. Would love recommendations for lunch/brunch. Have car, willing to drive! Looking for a great local joint. Love all food Asian but am open to all. Thanks!
Must eats in LA & Westlake
Howdy! Haven't been to LA in 10+ years. Going for 2 days for a wedding. Looking for must eats that the locals love. Cravings: sushi, korean bbq, cuban. Here's my deal: Staying near Beverly Hills for 1st night; Staying in Westlake Village for 2nd night. Traveling with 6 month old. (she's great at restaurants- she's done well at Tao in Vegas to whole in the wall joints). Thanks in advance!
Napa BBQ question
Foothill Cafe has closed recently? I haven't driven by lately but I heard in December that one of the cooks from Gordon's in Yountville took it over...
Napa BBQ question
check out the new bbq joint in town at Bel Air Plaza (Trader Joe's, Target, Cost Plus center). It's tucked away in the back, next to Copperfield Books. It's called "BarBers Q" and just opened by the owners of Mecca in San Francisco. Haven't eaten there yet but great looking menu - love that they are using local vendors for their food. "Vande Rose SMoked Baby Back Ribs served with Southern Cole Slaw" and "Rancho Gordo Baked Beans & Pork" - these sound like a must try!
I'm planning a trip to Napa, when do I go, where do I stay?
No doubt Napa is good fun and definitely good eats, but a lot depends on what type of experience you're looking for - the $$ or the $$$$. There are great eats for all price ranges but again, the more specific you are, the better recommendations you'll get.
Living and eating in paradise, here are a few of my favorites:
Taylor's Refreshers - must haves: mini corn dogs with fries topped with chili cheese, ahi tuna burger, cobb salad (i know odd for a burger joint but seriously, it's way good), wisconsin sourdough burger, fish tacos. they also have beer and wine.
Ad Hoc - comfort food, ingredients used and flavors are amazing, family style, $45 prix fixe menu but you can order a la carte at the bar, not to be missed: fried chicken night. wine prices are very good.
Boon Fly Cafe - must haves: housemade donuts, huevos rancheros for breakfast/brunch, kobe burger, flat bread pizzas for lunch.
I could go on for days but i'll stop here for now...
Private Chef in Sonoma
I highly recommend Misty Phelps...she's a personal chef who lives in Napa. Her style is high end wine country comfort food. She can personalize the menu to your taste as well as pair wines with each course. She catered our wedding (40 people at our house in St Helena), however, she mainly does private dinners for groups anywhere from 6-18. She can be reached at getmisty@napanet.net. Any other questions, please feel free to drop me a line as well. Cheers!
