Copper Windsor Pan?
By the way what's the upkeep on copper? Is the performance worth it?
Copper Windsor Pan?
As far as I understand the Calphalon Tri-Ply Copper is more for looks and not performance, as the copper layer is too thin to provide any benefit. I'd be interested to know what people's experiences have been with copper cookware. Do you think that there is a significant difference between copper cookware such as Mauviel and more traditional stainless steel. For example the All-Clad LTD line has a Windsor pan, would this be as heat responsive as the Mauviel Windsor pan which has a 2mm exterior layer of copper?
Copper Windsor Pan?
Can you tell me where I can find one for that price? I am seeing around $400 for the Mauviel Splayed Saucepan, which is way over my budget. I was thinking more in the $100 to $200 range. Do you like your copper cookware, and what do you use it for?
Copper Windsor Pan?
Can anyone offer any suggestions as to where I can find a 3 quart Copper Windsor pan at a reasonable price? If you own one, what are your experiences with this style of pan? I am looking for a 3 quart pan in which to make creme anglaise, caramel, chocolate sauce, fudge etc...
Thanks
Whoppers Sno-Balls
Just wanted to thank you all for your help and let you know that the Whoppers Sno-Balls have finally been located at the Target on La Cienega, the Kmart on 3rd and the Longs on Beverly!
Whoppers Sno-Balls
That's how I found out about them! However driving all the way out to Glendale to pick up a bag of candy seems a little silly. I was hoping someone had spotted them closer to me.
Whoppers Sno-Balls
Ok, this is going to sound crazy but I have a serious thing for "Whopper's Robin's Eggs" that you get at Easter. The problem is that's only once a year.
Now I hear that they are making a version of this addictive candy for the Christmas season called "Whoppers Sno-Balls". Apparently it's the same thing only white for the holidays and the package has a polar bear on the front. The problem is I have no idea where to find them near me. So if anyone has seen these in the Miracle Mile/ Mid-Wilshire area please let me know. I need my fix!
Thanks.
Lindt Truffles, Locally?
I saw quite a few different flavors (dark, milk, white, peanut butter etc...) of Lindt Truffles at Cost Plus World Market.
Good Middle Eastern market in Miracle Mile area of LA?
I was wondering if anybody knew of a good Middle Eastern Market in the Miracle Mile area of Los Angeles (or, close to it).
I know about Valley Produce in the Valley, but I'm looking for something a little closer.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Citrus Valley Yogurt Ice Cream :P
We just tried it tonight. It was thick and creamy ... much better than PinkBerry and the many imitators. We didn't try the waffles, but they smelled delicious.
Chevre Gelato!
You should try Laloos Goat's Milk Ice Cream. http://www.goatmilkicecream.com/ They sell it at Whole Foods. My favorite so far is the Vanilla Snowflake.
Neutro Gelato powder source in LA?
Thanks, that's it. I was hoping to find it locally so as to avoid the shipping costs.
Neutro Gelato powder source in LA?
I think the brand name is Neutro CF - Neutral Stabilizing Powder. It's an Italian product. I have tried guar gum but it makes the final product too stringy. Apparently the Neutro powder is a combination of sugar, dextrose, stabilizers E410, E412.
Neutro Gelato powder source in LA?
I am trying to find a source for Neutro Stabilizing Powder for Gelato in the Los Angeles area. Someone at Sur la Table told me that Surfas used to carry it but I called and they no longer have it. I'm not sure where to look next. Any suggestions?
Thanks
dessert tasting menus?
How much do these tastings usually cost and how much dessert do you get to try?
Nice, France - Best patisserie, boulangerie, farmer's market?
What kind of places are those? Any suggestions for great pastries to satisfy a serious sweet tooth?
Nice, France - Best patisserie, boulangerie, farmer's market?
My husband and I are spending 2 weeks in Nice this summer and we wanted to line up some great places to check out before we go, so please let us know if you think there are any places that we must try while we are there. We are going to be staying seaside near the Promenade des Anglais.
Thanks!
Zucchini bread
I've been having a craving for a nice moist piece of zucchini bread. Does anyone know where I can get a good piece in the LA area?
Thanks.
FRITTELLI's...Are they as good as they sound?
I agree their buttermilk bar was moist and excellent!
Lunch recs near Pico/La Brea?
It's a little hole in the wall coffee house that serves Groundworks coffee as well as a variety of breakfast and lunch items. Not a very big place but they have a pretty extensive menu and a couple of tables.
Tiarra Cafe finally open on the weekends.WOW.
Never heard of it, where is it located and what kind of food do they serve?
Lunch recs near Pico/La Brea?
I live around that area so I have been looking for good lunch spots as well.
You could also try Pasquale's Cafe: 5616 San Vicente Blvd. 323-933-0755. It's a cute cafe with a nice little courtyard patio. Otherwise I second the recommendation for Bloom Cafe. If you go a little further north to Wilshire and La Brea there is a nice sandwich place called Panini Grill, 5354 Wilshire Blvd. 323-935-0237. Or also right off of Wilshire you could try Back Door Boba Cafe, 5484 Wilshire Blvd. (rear) 323-933-4020.
I'd be interested to know of any other great spots around the area as well.
Deep dish Chicago-style pizza in Los Angeles?
Thanks for the info. Why do you think it's so hard to find deep dish pizza in Los Angeles?
Deep dish Chicago-style pizza in Los Angeles?
We're looking for some good recommendations for a deep dish Chicago-style pizza in Los Angeles.
Preferably, we'd like to find something in the La Brea / Miracle Mile area, but all recommendations are welcome.

Need Brunch Recommendation for Sunday
Thanks for all the suggestions. I think we will give Tart a try since they take reservations and the steel cut oats sound good!
Need Brunch Recommendation for Sunday
I'm looking for a good brunch place around the 3rd Street and Fairfax area that takes reservations on Sundays for brunch. Someplace similar to Doughboys or Toast where I can get a nice bowl of oatmeal but don't have to wait an hour to be seated. Do any of you know of a place like that?
Thanks!
