help me explore chicago

thanks all for taking the time to reply. i noticed how many people have asked the same kind of question over again, so my bad for being lazy and not researching enough before asking the obvious questions ;)
i have to admit i haven't really done my homework yet so i don't know what's around my hotel. i just know i'll be going to see bjork at the auditorium theater and that's walking distance. anyway, thanks for the great advice and i'm so looking forward to coming to chicago

help me explore chicago

i'll be in chicago--FIRST TIME!--from Sat. 12 to Wed. 16 to attend a conference. i'll be free in the evenings and would like to explore the city a bit and its culinary diversity. i'll be staying near michigan and roosevelt. maybe i should focus on downtown? i'm not too much of a drinker but as for the kind of food, i'm excited about trying everything, really. so help me out! thanks in advance

western ireland

any good suggestions for good restaurants in western Ireland? we'll be staying for about 8 days, traveling from Galway via Clare and Limerick through Dingle and Kerry. We are looking for some good places but our budgets are somewhat limited...thanks in advance!

Best home base for a truffle vacation?

yes, the truffle festival is every weekend in October. Sant'Agata Feltria technically is in the Marche but it's right on the border with Emilia Romagna. It is just south of the wonderful Verghereto area. well, needless to say the landscape is pretty neat around there. since you can read italian here is a link http://www.comunic.it/vallesavio/fuma...
have you tried formaggio di fossa? it's cheese aged in ditches in the ground, literally. i don't think that cheese would pass US production standards ah. the truffle festival is the place for it. there are producers from all over the area that go there to sell it. how about wild boar dry sausage? i hope i'm convincing you ahhaa

Best home base for a truffle vacation?

if you are interested in exploring less traveled roads, i recommend Sant'Agata Feltria. they have a yearly Fiera del Tartufo in october. this is the site, i don't know if they have an english version http://www.santagatainfiera.com/
i have wonderful memories of the fair. thousands of vendors selling delicacies of all sorts, from salumi to honey and of course, some amazing tartufi. the food is pretty amazing too. i have to say i'm biased because i grew up near there and i miss it so much. however, the landscape is beautiful, there are not too many foreign tourists, maybe you should give it a try? sant'agata feltria is locate along the route E-45, therefore if you stayed in gubbio or perugia you could travel north to the Marche and even further to the BEAUTIFUL land of Romagna. consider a visit to Cesena. But I'm rambling now. Enjoy your trip

i never really tasted duck eggs but i have been found to be allergic to chicken eggs so since my birthday is coming up, i wanted to bake myself a cake with duck eggs. i guess since i live across the street from echo park i might as well take tony's advice ;)
