"Uncle Phaedrus" could not find any cookie by this name.
Does anyone know of a cookie recipe that sounds similar: powdered sugar, butter, etc...
No granualated sugar used in it.
In the meantime, I will try to contact someone from one of the Italian neighborhoods back in our home town, and see what I can find.

I will. But, don't be expecting TOO much. This cookie is a rather understated sugar cookie - soft, chewy sugar cookie. Italian desserts/pastries/cookies are never heavily rich. But, it's just the right touch.

Well, I don't know what a melting moment or crinkle cookie is...can you describe? The Caterina Cookie has no nuts or chocolate. Perhaps the recipe you have is at least close enough.

Try the frozen apple strudel. $3 a box...you keep it in the freezer...when you need a last minute dessert or an easy dessert, pop it in the oven. Delicious.

Has anyone ever heard of a Caterina Cookie?
It's an Italian cookie recipe - made with powdered sugar.
You roll dough into balls; chill the dough; then it flattens just a little when baking to form a crackled look, as a snowflake.
Melts in your mouth.
It's my daughter's favorite cookie, and I lost the recipe several years ago.
She's getting married and I want to make the cookies for the engagement party.
