What to order at Black Angus?
The fried shrimp are great here. Cocktail sauce has a lot of horseradish, which I love. Great peppercorn ranch dressing, hot squaw bread with whipped butter, fried zucchini with cucumber dressing and the "Splash" (a mix of cranberry juice, lemonade and seltzer) are all standouts.
Spires?
There are two by me, Cherry/Del Amo and Lakewood/Willow, both in Long Beach. Nothing special but they hand form all burgers, and the thousand island dressing and rice pudding are both amazing.
Nordstrom Cafe- Surprisingly good
Nordstrom Cafe is really good, especially the tomato soup and chicken florentine sandwich.
Horrible experience at Roy's
Wow that is sad. I ate at the Roy's on Oahu recently and it was a fabulous meal with exceptional, friendly, professional service, both by waitress and eager bus boy. The food was fabulous, but we did stick to the classic menu. I've been wanting to try the new one in Anaheim. Now I'm scared.

Blue Cheese Dressing?
If you are near a Cheesecake Factory you can pick up a jar of theirs to go. IT'S REALLY GOOD. Chunky and creamy, with lot of garlic. My favorite.
Long Beach area......what restaurants are the must go to?
The food is decent but if you're looking for an amazing dessert go to Delius. The souffle style cookies with homemade vanilla ice cream are worth the drive all by themselves. I've had the oatmeal raisin and it is fantastic. Great wine selection also.

Never had dessert there but I highly doubt it's anything special. Their soups are FANTASTIC. Bixby Cafe is an underrated place if you ask me, mainly due to the fact that B&B is so close.

Mmmm... Tropicana. The mango mousse tart is worth the trip! Parking is weird, just pull into Wamu parking lot and you'll see it right away.

Their pizza is great. Thick dough with crispy edges, with a slightly sweet taste to it. Love the potato wedges and of course PIZOOKIE... a reason for living in itself.

Wow I haven't thought about the chimichangas from JIB in forever. I miss Carl's Jr. crinkle fries and anything from Naugles, particularly the meat and cheese burrito and taco-in-a-cup.
Biggest "Guilty Pleasure"
The cuban sandwich from Cheesecake Factory. With fries dipped in their garlicky bleu cheese, it's heaven (and waistline hell) on a plate.
what to do w/ pineapple juice?
Pineapple Party Punch
Make a pitcher of Country Time lemonade (or the equivalent) according to package directions, substituing about a third of the water with pineapple juice. Add 1/2 cup sugar (yes it's sweet) and stir until dissolved. Serve straight for the kids and with either Malibu, vodka or gin for the adults.

Drove by this place thousands of times before venturing in about a year ago. Sorry Will, but why would you go here when Potholder, Coffee Cup and Bake & Broil are so close and light years better? It seemed dirty to me, the service was lacking and the food was very ho hum. The only part I liked was in the booth behind us were young parents with two incredibly well behaved polite children. The kids (about 3 and 5, girls) told the waitress please and thank you and pondered (out loud) the choice of french toast or grilled cheese. Unless this place has overgone a major overhaul (your food did sound appealing) I will not be partaking any time soon.

Belmont Brewing Company in Long Beach has a gorgeous second story patio with unobstructed beach views. Food is average. They also have blankets if people get cold at night. (nice touch)
