Hudson Valley Restaurant Weeks 2012
I was disappointed in the food preparation, not the selections on the RW menu. For a restaurant that's been top rated, I was surprised that the entrees were so poorly executed.
Hudson Valley Restaurant Weeks 2012
We had dinner at Moderne Barn on Thursday. The place was packed and noisy. There were only three entree choices, Pasta Bologonese, salmon with risotto and chicken over polenta. The salmon was overcooked and the risotto undercooked.
The chicken was overcooked and tastless. One would think that with only three entrees offered and such simple dishes, the kitchen could prepare them with ease. The appetizers and desserts were fine.
Service was very slow and it took over 2 1/2 hours for the meal. It was very disappointing.
Last week we ate at X2O. The food was delicious and we had a lovely evening.
Restaurants with outside dining in Westchester
Last night we had a delightful dinner in the garden outside Harper's in Dobbs Ferry. It made a delicious meal even more enjoyable . Besides the likely choices on the Hudson, the Byram River and LI Sound, please share other outdoor dining locations in Westchester.
Pre Matinee lunch in the theater district.
Lunch for two this Wednesday, 6/15. We don't want anything to heavy nor too expensive..just a simple lunch in a nice atmosphere. Any cuisine is fine.
Pre Matinee lunch in the theater district.
I'm looking for a not to heavy pre matinee lunch suggestion. We're NY natives and don't want a touristy atmosphere.

Fairway in Pelham is Open!
I was there at 6:00PM yesterday. It was organized chaos but parking spaces were available and you could get through the aisles. We did a walk through but didn't buy anything. They have a fantastic selection of prepared foods and a number of tables for "dining". We had "kobe" pastrami sandwiches with cole slaw and pickle...delicious. It makes Stews look like a mini mart and is a totally different experience. I could spend a week in the cheese department alone. A great addition for Westchester.
Frank Pepe's
We ate in Yonkers last week and it was excellent. The crust was perfect. It's the best PIzza we've had in the area since DeRosa's (at the firehouse) in Westport, CT closed. We'll go back again and again.
Has anyone tried the revamped Tabla?
It continues to be one of my favorite restaurants...beautiful setting, great service, fabulous food and the breads are to die for.
Lunch near Times Sq tomorrow?
I'd suggest Cafe Une Deux Trois on 44th St. It's less pricey, has nice French food and the tables are covered with white paper with crayons at the table..perfect for a young child
Rehearsal Dinner Locations Near Morristown/Parsippany
We held a rehearsal dinner for 45 people at Provesi, 50 South St., Morristown., 973-993-1944 in August 2007. We had a private room and it was BYOB which helped keep the cost down. For about $35.00pp + tax and tips, we had a delicious dinner and a great time. The meal started with platters of hot and cold antipasti, salad, choice of entrees(beef, chicken & fish), dessert and coffee.
They couldn't have been nicer. It really set the tone for the entire weekend and the bride's parents were very pleased.
Cheese Fries in Westchester
Pat's Hubba Hubba on Main Street in Port Chester, a Westchester tradition, is my choice. It's the greasiest of geasy spoons and great. Their chili cheese fries are the best. I believe that they're open late into the night and only closed on Sundays.
Breakfast Syracuse Carrier Circle
It's been a few years since I've been to Syracuse but I believe that the Egg Plant is still on Gennesse. Great breakfasts 24/7.
Fairway coming to Westchester, could it be true?
It's official...Fairway is coming to Pelham Manor in mid to late 2009. Howie Glickman, Fairway's owner, confimed this in an article in today's Jounal New. The store will be located on the Post Road at the former K-Mart location.

Must eats in Syracuse
Great breakfast, 24 hours a day at The Egg Plant on Genesee. For an authentic diner experience, Doc's Little Gem Diner.
Birthday Dinner for 8 Year Old in Theatre District
Virgil's has great barbecue and is perfect for an 8 year old. Becco has a prix fixe pasta dinner with 3 selections. A bit more sophisticated but fun. Both are reasonable.
Which of the 3?
I dined at Keen's on Friday night and it was superb. Much better atmosphere and service than you'll find a Lugers. I had the mutton, their specialty, and it was delicious. Everyone who had steak was very pleased.

The Tavern at Gramercy Tavern
I'll be dining at the Tavern at Gramercy Tavern tonight.. Has anyone been there since the Fall menu change? Any recommendations on what to order?
Best BBQ Ribs in NYC
I'm a Dinosaur fan...the best value in NY and now that you can make reservations on Open Table, you can avoid the long waits. In warm weather, eat outside at the picnic tables, it's a show in itself.
Believe it our not, recently had an excellent brisket sandwich at Southern Hospitality..moist and flavorful with good sides.
Although Virgil's has become more touristy over the years, I can't resist their hush puppies, better than all the others and I still enjoy Blue Smoke, the elegant barbecue experience and miss Pearson's on UES.
Food from the Sixties?
The "I Hate to Cookbook" by Peg Bracken was an early sixties classic. It was funny and full of quick recipes including Stayabed Stew, Hurry Curry and Saturday Chicken. I still use some of these recipes today when I have a hankering for comfort foods from a simpler time

Help! Need butcher in Nassau OR Westchester County
Too late for this weekend, but in the future I'd suggest Crisfield's Market off Purchase Street in Rye, 914-947-0152. They're a full-service butcher and have excellent meats.
Dunkin Donuts signs Rachael Ray
I know for a fact that RR only drinks Starbucks coffee. It's the only coffee served at her studio and office.
Rehearsal dinner location - private room westchester
I would suggest:
Hosteria Mazzei, 25 Regent Street, Port Chester, NY 914-939-2727. They have wonderful upscale Italian food and a very nice private room. It's located less than 10 minutes from the hotel. Upscale crowd. One of my fussiest foodie friends had a rehearsal dinner here and was very satisfied.
Graziella's, 95 S. Broadway, White Plains, NY, 914-761-5721. Yummy Italian located about 10 minutes from the hotel. Large, private room. Slightly less formal. Good food. www.graziellasny.com
Laguna, 189 E. Post Road, White Plains, NY, 914-428-3377 around the corner from Graziella's. Family style Italian in a large private room. I've been to a rehearsel dinner here and it was great. The food was delicious. Family style platters make it a reasonable choice and it's slightly more relaxed than the other restaurants.
I'll be hosting a rehearsel dinner in NJ in August and I know how hard it is to plan these events from a distance. You should be pleased with any of the above. Let me know if you need any other suggestions for your guest.
Best wishes for a wonderful wedding.
No Cook Lasagna Noodles
I've used the no boil lasagna many times and they'rea great timesaver. I run the noodles under cold water before layering. This assures that they'll cook properly without any dry spots.
