I am relatively new to the area, living in Downtown Oakland. Friends are coming up from LA and have an early evening, return flight. We want to have a delish, filling late lunch. Really, anything but Mex or Chinese. We want to sit and enjoy, have cocktails or wine............... All recs. are welcome. BTW, we are using public transport (I have a 2-seater which doesn't work for 3!)

looking for the BEST PIZZA in Santa Rosa

PickyZaEater and I finally got over to LaVera, last night. Mikee liked it!!! Applause.
We had a Mushroom Mania on one side, plain old cheese on d'other side. Flavor was XLNT, love that they sprinkle fresh basil on the pie. Only one complaint, we asked for a well done pie and the crust was still a wee bit too underdone, for us. End result, too wet pie, making it tough to fold and eat. HOWEVER, it was damn good. We'll be back. As an aside,PickeyZaEater (x NYer) told the female owner that she was one of the best dressed women he has seen in Santa Rosa in the 2 yrs that we're here! I'm the other one:)

what's your favorite Chinese restaurant in SF?

I don't do the pork thing, this tan tan was delish.......................

what's your favorite Chinese restaurant in SF?

Thanks again, would love to get your recs in the future. On our way back thru SF to get home to Sonoma County, we stopped at Amici's on Lombard. Their pie was AWFUL, we sent it back. My darling man is a former NYer and loves Village, do you have a preference?

what's your favorite Chinese restaurant in SF?

I would guess Yes. They have a very accommodating kitchen.

what's your favorite Chinese restaurant in SF?

thanks so much for the most xlnt rec. We loved it. Got a prime parking place, walked down to Z&Y. Following y'r rec., my guy had the sliced pork (I don't eat the piggy) and LOVED/Devoured it. He never had ordered anything like that. The TanTan noodles were delish, I wanted more++. Eggplant rocked, now in 2nd place next to my fave in LA (Hop Li) & the szechuan chicken was perfect for our palates. Got on a plane to Upstate NY nicely sated. THANK YOU

I suppose I should clarify 'budget'. We need to keep the day at or around $130.00, for the 2 of us. Reality, cocktails are not as important as the chow.

we ended p at Taiwan on Lincoln, for dinner on Friday night. Very, very good. Just the right flavor, nice portions, good presentation, very nice dining room and we were seated almost immediately. The ex-patriot NYer was pleasantly surprised! We have a favorite Chinese eatery in of course several in NY. There is nothing in Santa Rosa (we've tried) and Taiwan is a must to go back to.

Saratoga Springs for 2 nights

we are staying at Fox N Hounds for 2 nights and looking for the best recs you have for tastey, spicey meals (lunch and dinner). We would love to eat where the fruit and produce are locally grown, if possible. As Californians we're used to bringing our own - any eateries that will let us bring in our own wine? This short trip isn't until June 15, so we have a little time. Merci
