Momofuku wedding cakes??
We're actually a cake buffet - three 10" cakes and three 6' cakes. So we'll have a lot of flavors - dulce de leche, carrot cake, birthday cake, chocolate malt, strawberry lemon (amazing!) and the chocolate chip. Strawberry lemon was our personal favorite and the one we'll be cutting. Can't wait!
Momofuku wedding cakes??
Yup, we're also having a Momofuku Cake at our wedding next weekend (!) and we couldn't be more excited about it. All of the flavors we tasted were amazing and when I've served their cakes before at parties, people always raved about them. It may not look like your standard wedding cake, but it will sure taste a whole lot better!
Bora Bora/Moorea Food Suggestions?
We are also going to Bora Bora and Moorea for our honeymoon in September. I'm glad we went with the dining plan, seems it's a good idea. Any other (more recent) dining suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
Juice Question
Hi All,
I recently found a juice bar in my neighborhood that I've been visiting a few times weekly. I love the taste of their delicious fresh juices (fruit and vegetable) and I feel good drinking them, but I'm starting to worry about all of the calories. How do you fit juices into your regular eating habits - as a meal replacement or just in addition to your meals? I'm pretty athletic and more looking to maintain a healthy weight as opposed to losing weight. If anyone has personal experience with this, I would really appreciate it!
Thanks!

Magiesmom, I have a lot of beans and a lot of whole grains! Can you give me some ideas of the many different meals you make with them?
Looking for rhubarb - NYC
I've definitely seen it at Manhattan Fruit Exchange in Chelsea Market. I don't remember the price, but they are usually pretty reasonable.

Chobani?
Hi NYC Hounds,
I'm a huge fan of chobani yogurt and I've been having trouble finding it recently. Associated only carries it sporadically and I haven't had luck at Whole Foods. Any other locations I should check? Maybe Food Emporium? I'm in the Union Square area, please help me get my fix!

GreedyGirl, you've reviewed the two cakes i had bookmarked to try - Racines and Ginger!
I can't wait to make one of these for family over the holidays. Any thoughts on which would be more holiday appropriate? I'm leaning towards the Ginger Cake.

Would it be good on a mixture of kale and rice noodles?

Good to the Grain: Baking with Whole-Grain Flours, by Kim Boyce
I really enjoyed the olive oil cake as well, although mine got a bit crumbly.
Whatever happened to Green Goddess Dressing? [moved from General Topics]
This is my favorite version! I use it as a dip for crudite too.
“They’re like edible cocktails. People get smashed.”
The plums that I sliced before putting in the rum are also looking a bit weird. It sounds like I should just make use of the alcohol and discard the fruit. For my second batch, I made sure not to pre-slice the plums.

I recently deseeded a bunch of concord grapes for a grape focaccia. It was a project, but not too terrible. I sliced each one in half and then used the knife tip to scape out the seeds. All in all, it was lovely to enjoy the focaccia later without having to worry about seeds.

Thanks all, I just put up a batch with some brandy. I took the advice here and got something not too pricey, we'll see how it tastes in about January!

I've been thinking of making the plums and brandy myself, does anyone know a good brand of brandy to use?
Have a large supply of Beets...need suggestions???
Yes, I saw that salad as well. I believe it was raw shredded beets and carrots. Definitely on my to try list.
Cookbook of the Month: Baking for the Holidays [DISCUSSION]
I'm more of a lurker than a poster, but I do like the idea of a baking book for the holidays. I have, and enjoy, Good to the Grain but it's can be limiting as most of us don't keep spelt flour on hand.
what to order at Back Forty
The onion rings are amazing - I think it's the paprika mayo that really makes it. I had some Fried Zucchini Blossoms there recently that were very good. My fiance always get the burger and enjoys it as well.
Don't leave without a Red and Black either!
In dire need of help making YELLOW SQUASH palatable
I had some leftover roasted yellow squash that I put in a quick quesadilla this weekend. It was delicious and healthy!
Any Vegan Ice Cream Places??
The salted caramel pecan flavor is pretty amazing... in fact I don't think I've ever tried any of the others!

I'm doing the Five Boro Bike Tour too... and I'm getting nervous about all those miles!
I'll probably fill up on pierogies at Veselka afterwards just because it's a favorite spot of my BF. Good luck to you!

Yes, Terroir is terrific. And they just opened a second Terroir in Tribeca. I believe it's much bigger.
