Help, 1 night need great dinner!
My husband & I will be staying at Sunset Marquis and it is our first time to the area. I'd like to take my husband out for a surprise birthday dinner and I'm looking for great atmosphere and great food. I've done some research and came up with these:
Cecconi's
Terrace Menu at XIV
AOC
Bazaar
Katsuya
Please give me your feedback and help me to narrow this done or let me know if I'm missing a great spot.
P.S. We'll be dining at Giorgio Baldi's our other night there because a friend insisted this is a must.
What do you think?
Thanks!
dina in wilton
My husband & I stopped by Dina's in Wilton over the weekend and had a great meal. We sat at the bar and had a few snacks & wine. Being a vegetarian there were many options for me, I had the hummus and the vegetable wrap and my husband had the Tuna Rolls and the Hanger Steak Wrap and everything was great! The service and atmosphere were also great, we will def. return!
Only 3 nights/days san fran, help to narrow down restaurants
Thanks for all your thoughts so far, think I will strike Jardiniere.
We are 45min. outside NYC so we dine out alot in the city. We enjoy all types of cuisine; esp. Italian, Asian, Spanish and are looking for great food in a fun atmophere.
We will be going to Napa for a day trip, not sure if we will do just lunch in Napa or dinner also. The 3 days/nights includes our day trip to Napa.
Thanks for the Orson/Coco500 idea..think it's a good idea to try a bite at both.
Thanks again everyone, this site is so helpful.
Only 3 nights/days san fran, help to narrow down restaurants
My husband & I (early 30's) 1st trip to san fran, we love great food, atmosphere & need your help to narrow down our 3 lunch & dinner spots. We don't want anything too stuffy, just want to have fun & great food. Here's what we've come up with so far:
L'osteria del Forno
Laiola
Slanted Door
Nopa
Sociale
SPQR
A16
Delfina
Jardiniere
Incanto
Orson
Coco500
Canteen
Napa/Sonoma:
Wappo Bar
Girl & the Fig
Bardiva
Ubuntu
Willi's Wine Bar
Mustards
As you can see, I need help to narrow down this list. Also if you feel I've missed something, let me know..thanks so much for all your help!
peasant, dell'anima booked...ideas?
Thanks for all your great advice. Apizz was a great suggestion but had been there before and was looking for something new. We ended up having dinner at Bar Blanc and it was very good. The staff was great, atmosphere great and everyone enjoyed their food. We also popped into Gottino for drinks/snacks before dinner and absolutley love this place, everything we sampled was excellent..great wines, service and atmosphere. I felt like I was back in Italy! Will def. make this spot a regular. Thanks again for all your great suggestions!

Here are some I'm considering:
Michael Mina,
Guy Savoy,

Tableau,
Charlie Trotters,
Alize
Also looking for a great atmosphere, any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi, Looking for a great restaurant near Columbia University for dinner for a group of 6 gals. Leaning towards Italian but open to suggestions. Looking also for a fun atmosphere, mid price range. Thanks!
Morandi what to order?
Hi, My husband & I went last weekend and here's the pros & cons. We ordered the flatbread with gorgonzola & pears for an appetizer and it was excellent! My husband ordered the rabbit entree for dinner and said it was good not great. I ordered the gnocchi and it was very average. For dessert I would reccomend the chocolate gelato, it was amazing! Be careful, our waiter approached us and asked us if we liked prosciutto & cheese and we replied...yes. He then said, May I bring you out some? We said sure, we both assumed this was complimentary by the way it was presented to us but then saw a charge for 16.00 for the cheese & another 16.00 for the prosciutto on our bill. I'm not sure if all the waiters are trained to present it in that matter but just to give you a heads up. Enjoy your evening and report back.
