Duck beast medium rare with a blueberry port reduction served by a toothless waiter in a tiny village in the French Alps. My husband and I were the only customers in the room with five tables and florescent lighting. The waiter watched a black and white TV (positioned in a place of prominance in the dinning room) while his wife cooked us the most extraordinary meal of our lives. When we finished, we asked to see her. A frail, almost meek middle-aged woman appeared from the kitchen. We thanked her profusely. She nodded shyly and smiled with the ecstatic look of a woman who has just been discovered.
