Chef Salvatore out, L'Angolo Blue in
Their sign says their grand opening party is on Thursday.
update on Chef Salvatore?
We stopped in ten days or so ago. They didn't have their menu ready yet, but we had a decent pizza. The beer taps that disappeared when it was Chef Salvatore's are back (I don't know why, but that really bothered us). The bartender was very nice. It's called L'Angolo Blue (Blue Corner), and the sign today says they have happy hour from five to seven Monday through Friday. It can't help but be an improvement over what Chef Salvatore's had become.
Springhouse Drafting Room To Be Andy's Diner
Wow, your memory is better than mine. I remember going to the Newport House, but noy Christopher's. It must have been the time of my life when I had no money to spare for dining out.
Springhouse Drafting Room To Be Andy's Diner
I think it was The Newport House first. and Pike's predates everything. My grandparents used to take me when I was a little girl back in the fifties (wow, did I just say that?)
Springhouse Drafting Room To Be Andy's Diner
Yay (sarcasm). At least it's not another Italian restaurant.
Trying to remember name of old Lansdale restaurant
That's where it was. It was was a great neighborhood bar with decent food under both names.
Trying to remember name of old Lansdale restaurant
We too spent many happy hours there I haven't heard anything about them in years.
Trying to remember name of old Lansdale restaurant
I think I remember. I think it was Rhapsody's.
Trying to remember name of old Lansdale restaurant
If you're talking about the Alistair who then opened the tea shop in Chalfont, he owned/ran the restaurant that was Carolyn's. I can't remember if that's what it was called when they ran it, but it was on the corner of S. Broad St. and Jenkins Avenue. He also worked for a time at the restaurant at Mainland Golf Course.
Sunday Brunch Buffets Around Montgomery County
I've heard Hotel Fiesole in Skippack has a good one. By the way, I haven't had very good meals at Chadwick's.
Top Chef Texas - Ep. #15 - 02/15/12 (Spoilers)
They've lost me for good with that ridiculous episode on top of the rest of this awful season. . Any idea how I let Bravo know this?
Zacharias Creek Closed
I guess I just assumed they were closed. I've driven by three or four times and the lot's been empty and the building dark.
Zacharias Creek Closed
I guess the fact that no one commented on Zacharias Creek's closure before this (it's been at least a few weeks) is testament to why it closed.
Humiliating experience at Dettera
Just to add to my comment, I know a bartender who worked there and has since left. He was told not to be too friendly with the customers (i.e., talk to them about anything but drink choices).
Humiliating experience at Dettera
I'm sorry you had that experience, but it confirms my feeling that the management at Dettera is not particularly interested in making its customers feel welcome. Although it's a beautiful restaurant and the food is good most of the time, I've always felt less than valued there.
Farmhouse at Skippack Golf Course
I'm with you. My last two visits I thought the food was really mediocre. Here's hoping.
Conshohocken’s 401 Diner
They seemed to have plenty of PR before opening. I saw at least two features on Channel 6 about the place.
Suzy-Jo's Donuts
We so miss Distelfink's. We lived in Lansdale for 25 years, and that was the go-to place.
Suzy-Jo's Donuts
It's in the same shopping center as El Serape, but it's behind the building.
Good quality food near Audubon/Oaks?
I too visit my parent in Audubon and used to take him out to dinner every Saturday night. After constant tries, we always ended up either on the Main Line or Phoenixville. There really is nothing in the Audubon/Oaks area proper.
Doylestown - Rehearsal Dinner
Second the avoidance of Paganini. I've been to a couple of Christmas parties at the Wagon Wheel, and although the food is standard, they do a decent job.
Help me choose brunches
Brunch at White Dog was lovely, especially their sweet potato pancakes. If you don't want a buffet, I'd recommend it.
The Farm House Restaurant @ Skippack Golf Club
I'm with you on that. That was where I went when we wanted to go to a nice upscale restaurant in the area.
Have to agree about the food. I did like the pasta one time I went, but that disappeared off the menu. I had the spring rolls the last time I was there and they were absolutely tasteless.
Bucks County PA Inn, Ravioli
It might be the Piper Tavern or the Plumsteadville Inn.
Coming soon in Montco: Bellisimo
Another Italian restaurant? Can't anyone open anything else?
The Farm House Restaurant @ Skippack Golf Club
I may go tonight. If so, I'll write a short summary.
BIG BBQ SATURDAY Doylestown, Lansdale
My understanding is that the Plymouth Meeting restaurant is no longer the same as the Langhorne one, now being called just Dawson's, and the food is not the same as it was when it was J.B. Dawson.
Farmer's Daughter
Okay, I know they just opened, but a few observations. Number one, the bar is huge, certainly much bigger than it was when it was Coleman's, with three big screen tvs.
Number two. no service from the full menu tonight, something not mentioned on their website, and when the bartender was asked, she didn't seem to know if this was something permanent or not, stating that the kitchen was just working things out. Also mentioned was the fact that there was a big banquet, but somehow I think bar and banquet should be separate.
So, ordered from the bar menu. The baked burrata cheese wasn't hot enough, so by the time I made it through the first piece of bread it was served with, it was too cold to spread on the remainder of the bread.
My husband's sliders weren't delivered to the doneness ordered. The warm soft pretzels weren't warm, and were so salty they were pretty much inedible.
I checked out the full menu, and a number of things on the website menu are missing. I know it's early, and I'll certainly give it a try again, but not an auspicious beginning.
