What's Interest in or around Chatham?

Will be visiting for several days with old friends in Chatham later this week. Plan on taking them to the Chatham Bars Inn for dinner one evening to reciprocate. That will be our "nice" dinner but need suggestions for other more moderate spots for lunch and dinner. Know the Impudent Oyster and a couple of the other standards but not familiar with good places to try in town or within a short drive of Chatham. Would really appreciate your suggestions .

Thanks in advance

Top Notch Places Thai in South Shore

We have a house guests from the west coast who are lovers of Thai cuisine. Unfortunately, that is a blank slate to us so we are looking for help with good Thai spots anywhere on the South Shore. Can you help us out with suggestions anywhere from Weymouth south to Plymouth? Preferably somewhere in the middle of this area as we are in the Norwell, Scituate area. Lunch is the primary time as they prefer lunch to dinner when going out.
Thanks in advance for you help.

Short Notice Lunch in Plymouth MA

Thanks for the suggestions. Had nice lunch at the BLue Eyed Crab. We were lucky enough to get an outside table. Normally I drive my wife nuts because I will look for an outside table any chance I get and she likes one only in perfect weather. Yesterday was perfect so everyone was happy. Guest from Atlanta enjoyed the meal and the weather so it was a success all around.

Thanks,
Jackbrock

Short Notice Lunch in Plymouth MA

Just go word about meeting long time friend in Plymouth tomorrow for lunch while they are here from Atlanta. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Know the East Bay, the Crabby Shack but looking for other suggestions, preferably with an open deck and view if the weather is good. Anyone know anything about the 42 North that just opened in Manomet? Run by family who runs Stockholders in Weymouth and the Inn at Bay Point. Both pleasant spots.

Your suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

The Scoop on Jasmine BIstro, Brighton

Heard from a business acquaintance about Jasmine. He said that he had a wonderful dinner at Jasmine. I had never heard of it and did a search for it both here and a couple of other places. Shockingly little info about a restaurant that has been around for several years. What I was able to find makes it sound well worth trying. Any info or comments from the Chowhounds would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Lunch in Cambridge Close to Red Line

Thanks to all for their great suggestions. Was at MGH yesterday (Wed 5 Oct) it was a nice day so we took the walk across the Longfellow to Kendall, found Abigails and had a nice lunch. Wonderful combination to show an out of towner. Visitor was from the flat lands of Kansas and really enjoyed the sight on the river. I had not walked the Longfellow for years.

Thanks for your help.

Lunch in Cambridge Close to Red Line

Not up to date on good lunch places in Cambridge area. Need suggestions for late lunch (after 2:00PM) with out of town business colleague after meeting at MGH. Transportation limited to Red Line due to schedule and later departure from Logan. He indicated interest in Cambridge for a change from our usual spots in downtown and Back Bay areas. Would really appreciate suggestions for interesting and good lunch places. Both of us have very broad tastes from good ethnic to traditional spots but looking for something nice but a change of pace.

Thanks for your assistance

Anyone Know the Dock in Green Harbor (Marshfield)?

Had a call this AM to meet couple of friends this evening at the Dock in Green Harbor. Apparently it is in the Green Harbor Marina on Dike Road where the Compass Rose used to be. Anyone know whether it is just a bar or is there also a restaurant? Would appreciate any thoughts?
Thanks and have a Merry Christmas

Suggestions for a casual business lunch vicinity of Mansfield MA

Seeking suggestions for a nice but casual spot to meet a business associate for lunch next week. Meeting there because mid-point between us and good highway access. Not familiar with what is in area but do not want the usual 99s, Pickadilly Pub, Fridays, etc.
Would appreciate your suggestion on a nice local type spot. Should be in moderate range. This associate does not like big ticket lunches. Hope you can help out

Out Door Dining at Marina Bay

Any suggestions on a nice spot at Marina Bay with outdoor dining for a casual business lunch? If not at Marina Bay, any other suggestions in the Neponset, Milton, Canton, Quincy area would be appreciated. Thanks

Dinner in Vicinity of Parker House

Will be in Boston on business and staying at Parker House. How about suggestions for dinner with wife on Friday evening w/i walking distance of Parker House. Know the North End well but would like variety and stay in downtown. The new Marliave is close. Tempted to try the Grotto on Bowdoin St. Also thinking of some of the places on Broad St but concerned about running into the Fri after work crowd and the distracting noise etc. Would appreciate your thoughts on a nice spot for a casual dinner.

Thanks to all Chowhounds for your assistance.

Anything interesting to eat Brockton, MA

Pub is on its last legs. Used to have exceptional Lebanese food and still is fair but word is that they are on the verge of closing. Place is poorly maintained due to that. possible closing is due to sale of real estate to developer for proposed condos. No loger take credit cards. Another clue to their intentions.

For exceptional Lebanese food try the Grill at the Holiday Inn in the Westgate Mall. Excellent in an unexpected location.

For exceptional Italian and lovely dining room try Pasta Bene on Pear St. Also near Rt 24 not far from the VA Hosp. and just off Rt 123. Far better than the red sauce places in the North End of Boston with varied menu. One of the most underated and overlooked restaurants on the South Shore. Started as a pasta mfg and expanded to restaurant. Still whole sale their pasta products to top notch Mass and RI restaurants.

Middle Eastern Dining in Portland M e

Looking for a good Middle Eastern spot in or near Portland area for a nice dinner. Would like suggestions on this. By Middle Eastern we mean cuisine anywhere from Turkey Syria or Lebanon on the western edge of the area east to Iran including Persian or Afghani menus. Also include Greece in this grouping even though it is somewhat west of the area.

We are very familiar with Portland dining from regular visits there but no one we have spoken with knows of any good places in this category. We will be in Portland weekend of 6 Feb and would appreciate your suggestions.

Thanks and good dining to all Chowhounds.

What's New in White RIver, W. Lebanon and Hanover N.H.?

Heading this way to visit friends in grad school at Dartmouth. Most of the posts for this area are dated. Wondering what's good these days in the restaurant scene in the area. Know the usual bigger ticket spots such as Norwich Inn, Simon Pearce, etc. Prefer other local spots for a more casual, lets chat atmosphere with good food. Thanks in advance for your thoughts

Dinner Suggestions for Portsmouth NH

We will be spending Wed and Thurs nights in Portsmouth this week and are looking for suggestions for dinner each evening. One night a nice upscale place for a special evening would be great and a more casual spot would be order for the second evening. Our tastes are eclectic and we enjoy most cuisines. As benchmarks, our tastes in Portland run to Walter's, Fore Street, Cinque Terra, 555 for nicer evenings and a whole range of local spots for the more casual dining.

We are not familiar with the good spots in Portsmouth and would really appreciate the assistance of all you Chowhounds. Also your suggestions for good breakfasts and a casual lunch would be helpful.

Thanks in advance to making this mini-vacation a success. Looking forward to reading your posts.

Nice lunch outside-Quincy, Milton, Canton area??

Taking some business associates to lunch. Looking for a nice but casual spot w/i 20 minutes drive from Canton. Thought that some place on the water would be good. Looking for a place where we can have a pleasant lunch and chat while they are in town. Thought of Capt Fishbones in Marina Bay but do not know how it is these days. There must be some other spots around that we should try. Would be nice on the water but not necessary. More important than on the water is a good nice lunch in a pleasant outside patio setting. Know that fellow Chowhounds will come to the rescue.

Thanks

Dining near South Shore Music Circus

Second Atlantica in Cohasset. Took family gathering of ten there three months ago. Was wary because had heard that prices were in the stratosphere but very little word on quality of food. Was pleasantly surprised. Had excellent evening. All meals were excellent. Far above local expectations at reasonable prices. If you are looking for a nice meal this is a good spot. Suggest reservations with request for harbor-window table. Enjoy!!!

ChowHound Picks for South Shore???

Live on South Shore but really oriented towards Bos and Prov for restaurants. Looking for a good half way meeting spot to catch up with some friends from Plymouth mid week next week.. We will be heading from Brockton. Would like casual spot with good food, moderate prices where we will not be rushed. Figuring someplace on a arc from Marshfield/Pembroke off of Rt 3 to Middleborro at Rt 44/495 area would be good half way for both of us. Thought of Boca in Pembroke but have never been there. Any thoughts on there and any other suggestions will be appreciated. As always Chowhounds will come up with some great suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone tried Sparkfish in West Bridgewater?

Has anyone tried this new placed located on RT 28where Gary's used to be? The couple who own it run the original Sparkfish in Brewster? Anyone have any comments on the one in West Bridgewater? If not, as a way to compare how is the one in Brewster.

Mezzo Mare in Hull

Thanks for the response about Mezzo. Re Bridgemans's. Go early on a weekend. Not reservations on Sat PM.. We are early diners. Arrived about 6:00. Full choice of tables and they wanted to seat us at a small table for two. Asked about a larger table. Person seating us said no but sharp eyed hostess spotted the dialogue and immediately came over to seat us at a larger table. By 7:30 place was full including upstairs.

Food excellent. Prices somewhat higher than expected but in line with quality. Watch wine specials by glass. Priced high. Did not mention prices on either wine or other specials. I always ask out of principle if they omit the prices. Wine list slanted to $35.00+ range to get interesting selection. Interesting sophisticated menu with quality ingredients and very well prepared. All in all a pleasant but slightly costly evening. Only draw back is that odors from open kitchen slide over into dining area when kitchen is going full speed and you will notice it on you clothes and coats the next day. GIve it a try.

Mezzo Mare in Hull

Saw this spot the other evening when we were headed to Bridgeman's in Hull. It is an unpretentious looking place but had several people waiting outside so it must be busy. Anyone had any experience here? Would appreciate you comments.
