Briganti-Pasadena
I really like Briganti, the food was excellent but what brought it together were the italian waiters and italian wine list, it made everything kinda fit together along with the food.

Donut Man-Am I Missing Something?
They gotta be fresh, and the seasonal ones are the best.
Shiro v. Parkway Grill v. Bistro K
My bad. I read the thread wrong! Not been to Bistro K yet. I definately have heard great things about it, very creative. I have been to Shiro and Parkway, both are good but not nearly as creative as Bistro K. Check out their menu on-line.
Pasadena - Bistro 45 Revisited
My Take was about the same:
As usual my birthday celebration lasted the better part of a week, with the high light being a romantic dinner at Bistro 45 in Pasadena, with my special someone. It has one of the most extensive (California) wine lists I have seen in Southern California. It was voted “Best Restaurant for Wine Lovers by Wine Spectator 1992 – 2006”. I want to add that the wine pricing was amazing with offers in all price ranges. We selected a 2003 Duckhorn Merlot and it was exquisite!
The menu has something for everyone and of course there were several specials. The “Tomba Tuna” and signature “Composed Salad of Baby Red & Oak Leaf Lettuces French feta, strawberries & Cabernet dressing”, AKA Strawberry salad were both divine. I especially loved the tuna, prepared seared on top of marinated yellow beets. Who would have thought! This tuna was white, not like the Ahi you see at most restaurants. We enjoyed Mumm Napa Brut by the glass with these selections.
I chose the Roasted Maple Leaf Farms Duck Breast, with an amazing honey infused demi glaze. Surprisingly the duck was served medium rare and tasted perfect. The only thing missing was that layer of perfectly crusty and crunchy skin that is usually atop most duck breast dishes, but the flavors were so amazing I didn’t miss it that much! A mascarpone risotto was served with the duck, light and creamy, a perfect complement! My dinner partner had the roasted beef tenderloin, which was flavored and cooked perfectly; melted in your mouth. The wine selection paired perfectly with our entrees, and the “Black White and Orange” dark chocolate bombe tasted amazing with the merlot too!
The service was impeccable with someone stopping by the table often enough, but not so much as to be annoying, to make sure our dining experience was perfect. We sat on the covered and heated patio; I was concerned that it would be too cold as it was raining! However the temperature was cozy, and I would not worry at all about patio dining here, there wasn’t even a draft on my feet.

German Food
Is the place in San Gabriel on las Tunas gone? My father was German and we used to go there when he was with us, but it has been years, Bavarian Inn I think.
Pasadena is weak!
I have to agree about seafood in Pasadena or SGV. Where pray tell? Occasional specials at the better places, but consistent menu items for the cravings we have....

Shiro v. Parkway Grill v. Bistro K

Family style italian??? Valley/Pasadena
On Green St in Pasadena near Hudson st. Google it and it will give you an address. Homemade inexpensive and good stuff. Small and quaint and you can share entrees and pizza.
Dinner tonight in Pasadena---about $20/person
Tarraintinos is good and inexpensive, on Green near Hudson.
Mexican Pizza
I have never had it, but I have heard it is very good. Bambino's in Azusa has a pizza with refired beans etc. The owner worked for petrillos for a long time then started his own place. A hole in the wall for sure, I have had other things there that are good.

Best BBQ in SGV?
I really like Canyon City BBQ in Azusa. It is down the street from where I work. My favorites are the brisket and pulled pork. The Tri Tip is smoked so not rare, I prefer my Tri Tip rare. Also they have a good Philly Cheese steak!

Many of us have a love affair with bacon, we love it in things, next to things, the thought of it often make our mouths water. I want to know what resturants (LA area) do amazng things with bacon. Breakfast, lunch or dinner. Bring it on!!!
