The best authentic mexican

NO NO AND MORE NOs
None of these have real Mexican food.
Austin grill, Guapos, Cantina, etc what a joke.
Merely a coverup of central american food.
The Mexicans who came to this area lived in Warrenton, Va and Frederick, Md but once the farms were sold and homes were constructed on farm land, many of them moved away out of state.
If you are used to SW or real Mexican food, I actually found a place somewhat decent called El Tios in Gainesville, Va.
I heard from some Mexicanos that there is a place across from Quantico marine base but it is a mom and pop shop that is decent.
Good luck!

Strategies for getting people to try sushi?

Agreed. Cali rolls are a good start or even Tempura or Teriyaki and they can share your cooked Sushi for the 1st time. Mikaku Sushi in Herndon, Va is authentic Japanese but offers many pseudo-Westernized Sushi choices also. The rice with a half sliced shrimp is very good and it is cooked. Next time, try the Salmon and Tuna. Do not push too much at the first try. Most people develop their taste buds by age 12. There is another place called Tachibana in McLean, Va and one in Columbia, Md that I do not remember the name that is near the Five guys by Broken Landing and Snowden Pkwy. Remember to use soy sauce and ginger and wasabi to change the taste and clean the palate.

DC Restaurant suggestion for large group

Thai Kingdom or Bombay Grill or M&S or Oceanaire or The Market Inn or Spanish-El Trabardero (I Think) has Flameno when in town from Spain or Samurai Japanese Steak house under Georgetown Mall or Red Sage or Vidalia's or Ruth Chris' or Ethiopian food in Adam's Morgan area or Sam and Wolensky's. Soooo many to choose from. Stay downtown because the parking is easier. Avoid the breweries with the infant, otherwise Gordon Biersch is very nice. People are rude in the bar atmosphere. There are a bunch of restaurants by the Zoo on Connecticut Ave that are very good also.

Restaurants in/close to Herndon, VA?

The restaurant is Mikaku Sushi in Herndon and it is fabulous. Authentic Japanese secret!!

Does Authentic Italian Food Exhist in the DC Area?

I have not had authentic Italian food between Md and Fl except for my boyfriend's cooking and my best friend's grandma's pasta from Sicily.

Does Authentic Italian Food Exhist in the DC Area?

So, what restaurant in No. Va or D.C. do most recomment to be closest to authentic Italian. Little Italy in Baltimore has gone down-hill and I cannot go to NYC or San Fran or Clearwater anytime soon.

Help me. PLEASE. Graduation dinner for 50

The Vin in Towson!! Very nice and has circular lounging seats too and lots of windows.

Any "classic diners" near downtown DC?

Bob & Edith's on Columbia Pike for the last 10 yrs or more. Family owned and wonderful owners. Both, food and service are good. Real diner feel. Silver diner has more choices, but very franchise feel now that it has become a chain restarurant. Downtown Bethesda and Wheaton also has some old diners that are great in Md. Oh, and I almost forgot about D.C., there is a little diner type place next to Herrington Hotel by Metro Center area around Penn ave & F OR E

Restaurants in/close to Herndon, VA?

Besides Tachibana in McLean, less than 5% of "Japanese" restaurants are authentic Japanese. Most are Korean and the food is not the same for those who know asian food. There is an authentic Japanese restaurant and Steak house in Columbia, Md off Snowden River and Broken Landing by the Five guys pizza place and another one off Rte 28 near Chantilly, Centerville, Va also.

Restaurants in/close to Herndon, VA?

I dont agree either. I lived in Japan for many years. Tachibana is authentic Japanese owned and operated in No. Va. The rest, a close imitation at best...sorry! Korean food is nowhere close to Japanese especially the Tempura batter.

Ethnic Food in Alexandria

Cannot remember the restaurant's name but it was in a little strip mall off beulah st. Wonderful and authentic Thai food. Across landmark mall, Duke House of Kabob is very good for Afghan food and has excellent kabobs and hot, fresh baked bread!

Loudoun County Question

How about the Bone Fish grill. Excellent food and service. Call ahead to place your name on the list, otherwise its usually a 2hr wait. Clydes was beautiful and the atmosphere is awesome, but definitely loud and vey much a 40s singles scene bar environment.

Sushi on the conveyor belt

Authentic Japanese Sushi in D.C. metro area Matsutake in Chantilly/Herndon Va area and Arlington Va. Most other are "korean" or "chinese" imitation.

New Fortune Dim Sum

I accidently found it. Authentic Chinese dim sum and very good. Owner lady from Hagerstown. My sis' house was near by. Cant remember the name but by Ga Ave and Viers Mill intersection I think. Big fish tank in front with Tilapia.

Greenfield vs. Fogo de Chao churrascaria

I just came back from eating at Ipanema's in Seattle and it was fabulous. The atmosphere was clean and tropical and very brazilian and the meat melted off the bones. The outside of the meats were nicely smoked and partially blackenned "churro" and the inside remained tender. Just visted Malibu in Fairfax, Va and it was awful. Even the salad bar items were bland, the meat was dry and had little to no marinade $19/person, not worth $5. I filled myself with the roasted potatoes (the only thing with any flavor and not dry) Very disappointed! Someone please recommend me to a good one in Va with the same "gaucho" concept...please.
