Passover in Paris

Does anyone happen to know whether Kosher bakeries/restaurants in Paris will be open during Passover?

Thanks!

Lactose Intolerant in Paris...in April

Thats correct. We know what she can and can't eat. Was more looking for advice as to places that might be good for accommodating.

Lactose Intolerant in Paris...in April

Wife and I are visiting Paris in 2 weeks. She is lactose intolerant and would love any suggestions for places that might be good to visit. We realize most meals we will have to navigate the menus, but to the extent any good recommendations can make it easier, that would be super helpful. Aside from the no-lactose, we are relatively adventurous.

Thanks!

Club Car in Mamaroneck - Dont Bother Making a Reservation

Had heard about the place before the review and thought it was a good concept. Didnt think about the NYT review when we made reservation, just wanted to try something new. That said, a reservation is a reservation. Its not like I am writing about not being able to get a table b/c I called noon on Friday for a prime time table....

Club Car in Mamaroneck - Dont Bother Making a Reservation

Anyone trying making a reservation here recently? Wife and I made reservations for this past Friday evening along with another couple. Had an 845pm reservation which we had made Monday or Tuesday. We were running a bit late so had the courtesy to call the restaurant as we were leaving the house and told them we might be 10 minutes late. They said no problem as they were running a bit late. We enter the restaurant at 9pm and it is PACKED. Looks great, good scene, etc. We check in with the hostess and are told they couldn't seat us, it would be 20-30 minutes. Recognizing both couples had babysitters who needed to leave at 11pm, we weren't sure what to do. Next to us was another gentleman who was trying to get seated who told us he had a 750pm reservation and still hadnt been seated.

We asked the hostess why we couldnt be seated....her response: "we run 20-40 minutes late on all our reservations, thats just the way it is. a reservation doesnt guarantee you a time, it just guarantees you will eat at some point"

WTF??????

need dinner for 20 near rye

I had my rehearsal dinner at alba's a few years back. food was great - service was "fine", although I chalk some of it up to me being antsy with the wedding the next day. it was also easy for older people to get in and out - we had several 90+ yr old grandparents and we chose that place over others just for that

Need Recs in Charleston for NYC Babymoon Couple

Hi gang....preggers wife and I are headed to Charleston for a pre-baby vacation. We love the NYC food scene so would be interested in hearing the boards recommendations on good places in Charleston. We are staying at the French Quarter Inn, so would love thoughts on Tristan. Lunch and Brunch suggestions are welcomed as well.

Thanks!

dinner with parents in west village/chelsea

My wife and I are having dinner with both of our parents in a few weeks and were looking for suggestions on where to go. We live in Chelsea so would prefer to stay in the chelsea/west village area. My wife is lactose intolerant, so thats an issue, but don't want to do a vegan place. We've been to a lot of places in the area, but were hoping to tap into the brain trust on this board.

Dinner in on a sunday and we'd like to eat somewhere that isnt going to be overly loud or too trendy. Just somewhere nice and simple with good food.

Thanks!

Recs on Perilla's fall menu?

was there last wednesday night. i had the wild boar milanase. it was good, although it could have been veal for all i know (it was still delicious). sister had the hangar steak (which she loved) and wife had the duck. restaurant was great, they were totally accomodating to my wife's dairy allergy and would definitely go back again.

How's Maremma?

My wife and i enjoyed it greatly. I have heard mixed reviews of the place, but a lot of that is from its early days when the menu was a bit more eclectic. we used to frequent beppe before casesare left to focus on maremma and the menu has many of the same options. definitely try the wild boar ragu.

Has anyone held a private party at Eleven Madison Park?

i just planned an event about a month ago. dinner was for ~25-30 people and was held in one of the private rooms in the mezz area. I thought it was a great event - food was excellent, service was excellent. I have never been there before, so its tough to compare for me. Only issue was that some of our guests (from the midwest) didn't get enough to eat (good thing shake shack is across the street). It was pricey however - but i thought the did a good job.

florence

Try enotecca pinchiorri for your splurge mean (and it will be a splurge). Most amazing meal of my life, but you will pay for it.....

Enoteca Pinchiorri or La Giostra

My wife and I visited both when we were in Florence this past september for our honeymoon. While Enotecca may be the most expensive meal for 2 i will ever have (amazing even though I live in NYC), i will say it was worth the experience. We did not leave with an empty stomach and the care and preparation for each dish was unbelieveable. We gave the sommelier carte-blanche (almost) on the wine list and were treated to one of the best brunellos i have ever had. If you do go here, I would recommend a blazer for the gentleman and something on the nicer side for the lady. Doesn't have to be suit and tie, but you may be uncomfortable in jeans.

As it relates to La Giostra, I would also recommend this highly. The food was great, and there was certainly a ton of it. My only complaint was the service - we were eating on the later side and after having to wait 30 minutes post-reservation time, we were forced to wait another 30 minutes before the waiter (the chef's son) came by to even take a drink or food order. That all being said, we left very much satisfied and would recommend it as well.

HELP! Looking for great SAUERKRAUT like they have in E. Europe/Germany

Try Rolf's on third avenue and 22nd street. great german food and they put a lot of effort into the decor of the dining room (it may not be for everyone)!

French stuff is usually too much butter and for my wife who is lactose intolerant, it might be a no go.

30th Birthday Dinner in West Village/Chelsea With Parents

Any recommendations for a 30th birthday dinner in the west village or chelsea with my wife (the birthday girl) and her parents. Doesn't have to be super fancy or super cheap. We are all foodies and there are too many good/new places to choose from. We have a reservation now at Morimoto, but are not 100% sure if that is what we want to do.

Thanks in advance.....

The House

I concur with the above post. I live in gramercy park and generally frequent the neighborhood's restaurants. We tried House the other night with 2 friends and had a great meal. Nothing was over the top, but everything was well done and the atmosphere was great. The owner spent some time checking in on us and said they are doing excellent business. That was definitely good to hear as we certainly want House to stay around....
