I concur!!!
The Packaged Arugula @ TJ's is much better. The Arugula at WF was yellow the last time I checked.
NY'ers are really blessed to have Union Sq. Market, Whole Foods and TJ's in such close proximity. I go to all 3 for different needs. The Market is my 1st love though. Look at what I did with Acorn Squashes I found there(recipe courtesy of Chow)

:)
Omg, No! Ive never eaten an apple!! Lol!
I have however, tasted the Arugula for 'peppery' nuances before I paid for it.
FYI: The arugula @ whole foods has gotten worse and worse. they keep the best stuff for the salad bar.

Yeah I buy the fresh Potobello's and I can say with all honesty that I twice removed the Stems at that Whole Foods @ Columbus Circle, NY.

As far as dishonesty, Whole Foods' Stock wont necessarily take a nosedive because I broke off a few stems...Lol
One time I broke 'em off right at the register, the Cashier remained silent.
Only in NY kids, Only in NY.

Great tip on the Stems adam. I've always removed the Stems discreetly(Portobellos) @ whole foods so I dont wind up paying for more weight...
Great tip.

Do flat screen tvs really need to be everywhere?

Bombarded by Technology and 'Ads' everywhere?
I'm from the Carribean, and I cherish that 'info-free enviroment' when I'm back home. But yes, it does seem like that's becoming the Norm. I went to a Movie theatre in Union Square that has ads right above the Urinal! Even in the most Private of moments, you can't avoid the "Sell". Nowadays there's an onslaught of unwanted/unwelcome info wherever you turn.

Speaking of Levine, Get his Book with The venerable David Pasternak of ESCA, entitled: "The Young man and the Sea", Great cookbook, Great Chef, Great restaurant!

New wine bar on Union....Bussaco

Read a short review of this place recently. I'll give it a month or so to work out its Kinks, and i'll give it a try.
Of course you can have dinner and wine @ Bussaco and then follow that up with Chocolate and more wine @ "The Chocolate Room"..
I don't live in the slope,. but a lot of my hard earned dollars are spent there on food. And its all worth it.

I agree, Rachel Ray is mionor. But with stalwarts like Collichio, Tourendel and David Burke there it seems worth it. And omg, Jacques Torres Himself? Nice.
Happy Eating.

anyone know where i can get a "SHANDY"?

The particular brand is 'Carib'..
And let me apologize, I had no idea that in Europe 'Shandy' was a drink prepared to order in bars/pubs. We carribbean folks only know the bottled Shandy, the Most popular of which is a Lager and ginger one by the aforementioned Carib beer bottling co. Its still very refreshing though. But the alcohol content is maybe around 6-8% by volume(I'm not sure).
Thanks again, I just learned something.
Here's the link: http://www.caribbeer.com/shady.htm

Dude,
Im from the Carribean(Grenada to be exact).
And Brooklyn, NY is full of local grocers that sell Shandy. The one we consume is made by a Carribean beer manufacturer named 'Carib'. They might have a website. A cold shandy is indeed refreshing.
Well, I hope that helped.
Cheers.

Best outdoor dining in the Slope, P. Heights?

From what I've heard Frannies is a great place. They earned a really good review from Frank Bruni himself.
I personally love a small thai spot not too far from Frannies. Its called Mango Thai(7th avenue, 3 blks in from Flatbush) and they have a nice lil' cocktail menu as well. Try the drunken noodle with squid. Delicious!
It seems as if every restaurant along 7th avenue has outdoor options.

CUT at the Beverly Wilshire - A bit of a letdown [LONG-ISH REVIEW]

1. The best steakhouses are in NY! Bottomline!
2. Thats the sort of result/disapointment you get when you mix good intention with 'Gimmick'!
3. Who cares if 'D'iddy' was walking around.
4. 8 times out of 10, a restaurant with a so called 'scene' serves less than excellent food.
5. As a chef I know that all kitchens make mistakes and a Med-Rare /Med-Well guffaw happens, if it doesnt happen every night.
6 .Again, the best steakhouses are in NY! And the best ones in NY (Peter Luger,Old homestead,PALM)are less about scene and more about the Cut and Service.
