Anywhere in the DC/Bmore area that's like Amsterdam Falafelshop but with Meat?

if you are in the Baltimore area, Tahinas in Owings Mills would fit the bill.
Falafel, beef and chicken options in a pita. Extensive topping bar. Alsoa Frites (French Fry) sauce bar similar to Amsterdam.

I happen to know the owners of Tahinas used Amsterdam as a prtotype to the kind of establishment they wanted. It's alot slicker and cleaner than Amsterdam though.

Best traditional pizza delivery in Owings Mills, MD?

Upper Crust has recently been sold...it is now a Seasons Pizza....a chain, mediocre at best
Unfortunately they took out the wood burning oven which made Upper Crust better than most of the chains in the area
If you want authentic pizza....I reccomend Mia Carolina In Glyndon although they don't deliver.
For delivery the Big Cheese is pretty good and they do deliver......at least its not a chain

Mexican/Latin in Baltimore

Mari Luna......3 locations.....they're all good

Buddy's in Annapolis?

olives in crab cakes????

that sounds DISGUSTING ! ,,,,Please do NOT think you had a Maryland Crab cake

Hey should be penalized 15 yards for unsporstmanlike crab cake making

Graeters at Fresh Market in Vienna!

I found it today at the Fresh Market in Baltimore.....they had 4 flavors...$5.99 for a pint.....I was not impresed. I;ll bet it's probably better eaten fresh, I guess I'll just have to go to Cincinatti to experience the real thing

Graeters at Fresh Market in Vienna!

Doe anyone know if the Fresh Market in Baltimore has Graeters? I've never had it but heard it;s the best ice cream in the US. I;d love to try it and also hear reviews from others who have

Owings Mills restaurant suggestions for college graduation brunch

Mia Carolina would be much better than Captain Harveys.......MC has a great private room.....excellent food....very reasonable

Xmas morning Challah emergency

you can go to Baltimore/ Pikesville,,,,,,,7 mile Market and Goldmans bakery will both have challah and be open

Lucky dog !!! ( my dog only eats homework!)

Gordon Ramsay to makeover Cafe Hon in Hampden next week

This ought to be interesting.

Even if Gordon Ramsay were to "fix" the restaurant problems of Cafe Hon ( I always thought it was pretty decent diner food), it seems to me that Cafe Hon's problems stem more from a public realtions/ marketing image problem. Just seems like that is not typical of the problems that are usually shown on Kitchen Nightmares.

This should be on "Public Image Nightmares" ( new reality show anyone?????)

Looking for Ben & Jerry's new flavor....Schweddyballs

thanks...i'll check there tomorrow

Looking for Ben & Jerry's new flavor....Schweddyballs

I know some supermarkets have banned B & J's newest flavor because of the provocative name....it sounds like an awesome flavor.

Has anyone seen it in any stores in the Baltimore area?

Looking for casual place near Jiffy Lube Live concert pavillion

Going to the Jimmy Buffet concert next week.....any reccomendations for quick casual near Jiify Lube....in Bristow Va. Is this near Reston? I'm from Baltimore....not familiar with the area

Hershey's Ice Cream

I have been following this thread and am a little surprised with the fascination of Hersheys ice cream. To me this is and had always been an average commercial ice cream maybe a step above Breyers....nothing special to write home about in my book.

Is anybody really in love with this brand?

Fresh old-fashioned ice cream with no stabilizers

If you're making ice cream at home, it's best to eat it right after it's made.
One of the "secrets" to making regular ( i.e. "hard" ) ice cream is that after the ice cream is made it needs to be frozen at a very low temperature ( at least -20 below zero) Most home freezers are not set up to "blast freeze"......Slow freezing ice cream is the major cause of cystalization. If you're going to make ice cream at home, I suggest make it and eat it within a couple of hours for maximum enjoyment.

Fresh old-fashioned ice cream with no stabilizers

I would reccomend the Dairy at the University of Maryland,
That's where I first learned how to make ice cream. I used to own an ice cream company about 20 years ago. My ice cream was very "clean".......milk. cream; sugar

Visiting for the Fancy Food Show

Many vendors will let you sample their products.....there are unique foods from all over the world. The LAST thing I would be worried about is where to eat AFTER this show.
It is huge.....If you've never been you really need to pace yourself. You might be stuffed after you've been through the first aisle. This show is usually in New York....hasn't been in DC for about 20 years.....definitely worth $35 pp

Visiting for the Fancy Food Show

It is DEFINATELY worth it......and you will NOT be looking for a restaurant after you've been to this show,,,,,move over Ringling Bros.......THIS is the Greatest show on Earth" ( that is if you like food more than elephants and clowns! )

College Park restgaurant for midweek lunch

My son is a student at UMD ( I also went there....in the 70's) We found a real "Chowhound" type place in the same strip as where Jungle Grill is ( or was) It is called La Pupeseria...very un assuming....but very authentic EL Savadorian cuisine and extremely reasonably priced,

Across the street from there....there looks to be a culinary "explosion" ( for College Park anyway!!) by the time students come back for the Fall semsester.Looney's Pub ( from Canton in Baltimore) is opening another location there. THere is also is brick oven pizza place opening....but the BIG new is that Bobby Flay is opening his first Baltimore+Washington location of Bobby's Burger Palace....really looking forward to that!

Timonium?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the "new" Peerce's Grill at the old Peerce's Plantation location......beautiful area right on Dulaney Valley Rd just past the reservoir.....OUTSTANDING crab cakes

Maryland Crab Puffs/Fluffs

WOW....this is a blast from the past! Don't see these around too much anymore....can't think of a more unhealthy way to eat crab. It's a crab cake dipped in a heavy pancake batter ...then deep fried.
Used to get these at Buds on Pratt Street and the Millrace Inn in Woodlawn back in the day....not a Pate a choux paste...that would be much lighter.

Wing Wah Restaurant in Pikesville

I would NOT say this place is horrible......thats not accurate.
Very basic, dependable Americanized chinese food. If you're looking for a "GraceGarden" type experience...this isn't it. Good egg rolls, won ton soup, all the basics. Friendly, fast service....very reasonable prices. Have been going there for 25 years....they know their market.

Baltimore Food Trucks?

Just curious....is Kooper's truck endorsed by Chowhound? Do they have the right to use that name?

Best MD/VA roadside crab sellers & vs Maine Ave.

Does anyone know if their is still a crab truck on Rt 140 ( Reisterstown Rd) just north of the Full Moon Pub( the old Forest Inn) on the way to Finksburg/ Westminster. I've bought crabs there before but don't know if there is any kind of schedule

Something new in Bmore for Friday?

doesn't get any NEWER than the new Mari LUna Bistro across from the Myerhoff........tonight is the first night open to the public

Black and whites? A good bialy, perhaps?

Wegmans has great bialys

Berger Cookies?

ok......since the.last time I posted on Chocolate tops. was a couple of years ago....there is a new player in town which is making THE best version of this cookie yet.....SUBURBAN HOUSE restaurant in Pikesville bakes their own chocolate top cookies FRESH every day. I challenge all of you Berger Cookie fanatics to taste a real cookie

I don't understand the attraction of Dangerously Delicious Pies

Hey....it's a unique concept and the owner Rodney has parlayed his " rock star/ pie man" persona into a successful business. The product iteslf leaves much to be desired IMHO. A lot of style...very little substance.

Too bad there isn't another "pie place" around. ( that I know of)

Breakfast in/near Silver Spring, College Park

need to back you up here..,,,, .....if I'm having pancakes in a diner style restaurant .I expect to be served syrup in a pitcher ( preferably warm) Syrup in packets is for fast food or carry out. You are 100% right!

Hunt Valley area but if not....

Might want to check out the New Peerce's Grill at the old Peerces Plantation on Dulaney Valley Rd near Loch Raven. Excellent food, great location....and you wont break the bank/
I Know they have a private room

In search of updated College Park dining

As a long time "old" Ledo's fan ( back to the early 70's when I was a student, I did try out the new "Original Ledo's " yesterday. I thought the pizza was as good as I remebered it .....and somewhat better ( crisper crust) than the franchises. But as we all know from various posts on this board...with Ledos.....you either love it or you don't.
I drove down from Baltimore ( my son goes to U of MD) I'll be back.
