What are you baking these days? June 2014 edition, part 2! [OLD]

I leave out the mint and lemons zest. I roll them into a log and slice since they don't keep their shape if you use cookie cutters.

New to Harrisburg

Progress Grill is old school, but good food and always consistent. Fusion Fire is great for sushi and my favorite steakhouse is in the Hollywood Casino. It's called Final Cut.

I discovered a delicious lavender shortbread cookie recipe and have been making them for everyone the last few months.

Best Pizza Within an Hour of Harrisburg

I know you might discount the Subway Cafe, but here's a little fun background on the history: http://theburgnews.com/business/aboar...

Best Pizza Within an Hour of Harrisburg

I'm a Subway Café pizza fan and yes I remember the Giustis AND I remember Castiglias as well. I recall Harrys but don't think I was old enough to set foot in the place at the time.

Mama Leone's

My grandmother saved an old menu of Mama Leone's. The phone number on the front is Judson 6-5151. Broiled lamb chops cost 5.25 and a bottle of red wine was $5.

Harrisburg Chowhound shoutout!

I need to put that on my list to try. For a pretty good Indian BYOB in that same area, you should try Masala Bistro. We've always enjoyed their weekend lunch buffet.

Traveling to Pittsburgh soon

Would be interested in a nice steakhouse one night and an elegant place another.
Any suggestions?

Staying at Lancaster Arts Hotel on V Day

Any nearby restaurant recommendations?
Last time we were in Lancaster, there seemed to be dearth of decent restaurants. Maybe we just didn't have the inside scoop.

Bayou is a parking nightmare, as is Blue. I would keep those two things in mind when making my choice also.

Fells Point and vicinity

Ate at a Greek tapas bar called Mezze this weekend--just excellent! I highly recommend it.

(Even though this is an old thread, perhaps someone will do a search on Fell's Point.)

My Philadelphia Restaurant Trip

My husband and I both went to Barclay Prime early on and the service was so slow we left after appetizers and drinks. The next day, which was a Saturday, we received a call from a Starr representative who asked us why we left and if we would consider coming back on the house. We did and everything was excellent; it was a very gracious gesture.
An interesting ritual is the "choosing of the knives" lol.... we found that to be a bit different.

Brasserie Perrier has excellent food. We visited for lunch and were not disappointed. I also think that window view at LaCroix for a spring breakfast would be just lovely. We had the opportunity to dine there this winter and intend to return during nicer weather.

Simoson's is now closed, as is James on Market, which has been taken over by Confit French Bistro. The food is wonderful and it's definitely worth a visit.
