Creolina's new location
Story in the Neighbors section in today's Herald in Broward:

IM Tapas in Naples, Florida
Thanks! Very timely, as my wife and I will be in the area this weekend.
When did Creolina's close?!
Great news! Not the greatest location, but whatever...
Here's the permalink to the post, btw:

Shorty's (BBQ?) in Palm Beach Gardens on PGA
How to you extrapolate the quality of the ribs from the quality of the pulled pork?
I wouldn't make that assumption, though I'm hardly an expert.
Please enlighten me.
Authentic Dim Sum Carts
Tropical is the only dim sum joint with carts I've encountered in SoFla other than a place on Sunrise and University in Broward that closed about a year or so ago.
Good reports on the China Dumpling in Boynton (have had lunch and dinner there, but not weekend dim sum).
No carts (but good dim sum) at China Pavilion in Pembroke Pines, ABC in Deerfield and Toa Toa in Sunrise.
Shorty's (BBQ?) in Palm Beach Gardens on PGA
Wonder if you'd like the fare at that Renegade place at the Hard Rock in Hollywood. Me, I found their ribs to be over-cured; it was like eating ham!
But you ought to try the ribs at Shorty's and report back here. I'd be curious.
I do like Lil Reds and Tom Jenkins in Ft. Lauderdale.
Always thought Tom's (formerly of Boca) was wildly overrated.
Do like People's in Dade, though. You?
I mean to eat. Not compete.
;>)
Shorty's (BBQ?) in Palm Beach Gardens on PGA
If this Shorty's is, indeed, part of the local chain that originated in South Miami, I like it a lot.
But I've never had the stew or the pulled pork. I go there for the ribs, which I think are quite good. Ditto with Sonny's.
I don't like either chain's french fries, though, but beans at both are fine with me.
Shorty's lunch specials are terrific deals and their coupons — which appear in The Miami Herald but not the sentinel — offer even better value, imho. (The coupons may also be available online. Haven't checked lately.)

When did Creolina's close?!
I'd planned to dine there last night after seeing The Dark Knight at the Imax in downtown Ft, Lauderdale, but found the place closed. Emptied out in fact, with nothing left but a little Zagat plaque in front.
I called their number today but no one answered.
One of my favorite places in the area. I reviewed it, in fact, for the Herald a few years back, posted here: http://www.wordsonwords.com/reviews/Creolinas.html
Very sad. Had a wonderful dinner at Sublime instead. Still...
Anyone know anything?
Dim Sum in West Broward/ Ft Laud
It was open when I drove by last weekend, but didn't have time to check it out, regrettably. Will do so soon!
Ft Lauderdale / Deerfield Beach
Dim Sum is fine. Not exactly like NY's (but what is?) They serve it every day, but the selections are limited at night.
Also, Toa Toa in Plantation has fine Dim Sum, and a good "regular" menu. Ditto with Hong Kong City Barbecue in Ft. Lauderdale on 441 just north of Commercial.
(No lobster bisque at any of these places...that I know of)
Rehearsal Dinner Locations in Ft. Lauderdale
Go to the Rustic Inn on Ravenswood Road in Ft. Lauderdale, just west of the Griffin Rd ext on I95. It's a crab house with a pretty varied menu, and plenty of things for non-fish eaters, too. Newspaper on the tables, mallets to crack crabs... lots of fun, though not cheap, despite the "rustic" decor.
Ft Lauderdale / Deerfield Beach
Go to Hobo's for lunch. The entreés are reasonable or you can just order a few appetizers.
If you like Dim Sum, try ABC on Hillsboro and Military in the far corner of the CompUSA plaza.
Or check out the Pickle Barrel on Hillsboro, just east of the railroad tracks for a great pastrami sandwich.
Most of the Mexican joints down here also have Cuban dishes on the menu, so the Cielito Lindo places are well worth checking out, too.
pompano beach and area-fish and good stuff
Bonefish Grill in Pompano on Sample Rd. on the east side of town is pretty good, too. The one in Coral Springs is a bit fancier; the ambiance on the east is almost like a sports bar, but the fish & chips were excellent and I'm going back there for lunch... tomorrow, in fact.
Top Ribs in FLA
People's is my fave, though Tom Jenkin' rocks and Lil Red's (both in Broward) are fine.
Lucille's in Delray and Boca is/are good, too.
And count me in the pro-Sonny's contingent.
Here's a review of People's
