Sushi made w/brown rice in Tampa
Anyone know of a place? My martial arts instructor has been looking for one since moving to FL, and come to think of it-I'd love to find one too! Thanks!

"Quaint" nearr Brandon mall?
Thanks so much! LOL and I meant near Brandon Mall, not nearr-that's what I get for typing from a PDA!
"Quaint" nearr Brandon mall?
Anyone know of a place like this? Not too noisy, good food? Thank you!

There are an array of restaurants to choose from. Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but I've had luck with them!
Graduation brunch/lunch near USF: North Tampa
If you're willing to drive to Wesley Chapel, the Saddlebrook Resort is really nice, and you could probably host a brunch there. While I think a deli is a good choice for a lunch, perhaps it's not the special atmosphere you're looking for on your daughter's high school graduation day? As for quality and pleasant surroundings, I am stumped to think of anything near USF. My ex-husband went to grad school there. I'll see if he can think of anything (lucky we're still friends LOL)
NYC Foodie, 1 night in Tampa- casual
Agree with Oystercatchers, though it may not be as casual as you are looking for.
I'm going to disagree with GrillSmith (sorry.) Never had a good experience there and none of my friends have either.
There is Crabby Bill's, which is super casual and near the airport on the water. Bahama Breeze-but it's a chain. You can also go to Int'l Plaza and there are a ton of options. I'm on a Grape kick there. What type of food are you looking for and do you have a budget? What do you mean by casual? Toothpick hangin' out of your mouth and belches acceptable kind of casual (Crabby Bills) or laid-back, pretty, you can wear nice jeans but don't look like a hobo kind of casual (Oystercatchers) ?
Evenings on my own in Barcelona
I'd recommend Bestial. It's near the Ritz Carlton Hotel Arts. Very good food! You can dine inside or outside, though I prefer outside taking in the view of the Mediterranean Sea.

Moo was really good, but it's really trendy and can get noisy. The staff seemed to take themselves a bit too seriously. Also, the later it gets, the more disorganized they seem. The service is wonderful as long as it isn't busy! Once it gets busy, they seem to be a bit overwhelmed.
Salt Rock and its Progeny: Is thisTrifecta of Star Gulf Beach Restaurants Slipping??
Experienced the EXACT same thing you described at the Salt Rock Grill last time we were there. I hope the rumor is untrue, but sadly, it seems that it may not be the case. Thank you for the heads up. Next time we are out that way, we will be cautious!
Brazilian-style steakhouse coming to Tampa
$40 a person is very reasonable! Fogo de Chão is more! We had a reservation but blew it off, too tired and too much time in the sun LOL. We'll definitely be making it after I get back from Europe later this month!
Tampa
Agree with St. Barts Island House -though that could depend on the night you go as far as "kid friendly" goes. Also agree with Arcos Iris for good Cuban.

Barcelona list - so far
Copying and pasting from another thread I posted in. These are my favorites, some are already on your list:
ABAC -definitely nice and upscale!

Cinc Sentits -again, just awesome. Smaller than ABAC, but wonderful!

Moo-Very trendy, inside of the Hotel OMM

Restaurant Magi Vinya Rosa-smaller, not much to look at, but divine!

Bestial

Hope these help.
Gordon Ramsay-just a name or the "real deal?"
I'll be leaving for London on 11 April. Here in the U.S. "Hell's Kitchen" has become quite the popular show and I've heard some rave reviews of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants in London. So is it all hype or is a meal in one of his establishments a "must-add on" to my itinerary? Any experiences and feedback appreciated!
Gallagher's Steakhouse Tampa
Well, not a huge fan of Bern's here (other than the dessert room.) Sorry, everyone. I've always found them a bit overrated and just getting by on the Bern's name as of late. I much prefer the steaks at Charley's (not to be confused with Charlie's Wine Cellar in Hyde Park.) I'm not expecting a whole lot from Gallagher's, but I do like to try new places and new things. Boizao is on the menu tomorrow night...Now if only I could get that Gordon Ramsay reservation in London next month!
Gallagher's Steakhouse Tampa
Kevin-you bring up a good point. I had a reservation there last weekend and we had a change of plans. For some reason Open Table wouldn't allow me to cancel the reservation. I called the restaurant directly and the girl who answered seemed quite disappointed I was canceling. It seemed a bit odd for a Friday night. She asked, "Ooooh is there any reason why?" Then went on to ask me if I'd like to go ahead and reschedule. It was just a sense of urgency or desperation in her voice that made us wonder why she'd be -almost upset-on a Friday night that a customer canceled. Maybe I'm reading way too much into it, but I figured they'd do what every other busy place does and thank me for calling and letting them know-then fill the spot within seconds!
That written, it hasn't made me want to go try it, but we will sooner or later.
St. Pete Beach / Tampa recs . Thanks & a follow up report
LOL You must be close to us, we're close to Armani's too, but hey!! I never stay afterward. Time to have a little talk with significant other. LOL ;) (kidding kidding!)
St. Pete Beach / Tampa recs . Thanks & a follow up report
What rhnault said, except we do drive from South Tampa to Maritana Grill (in Don CeSar) every once in awhile. We usually make a two day thing of it and get a room there. =) It's a pretty area.
Can anyone recommend a market/grocery store that delivers in Tampa?
I am going to respectfully disagree on Kojak's. I think Jimbo's on Kennedy is much better! (sorry!)
St. Pete Beach / Tampa recs . Thanks & a follow up report
LOL LOL
And I third that-I went to Crabby Bill's one time with friends who insisted on visiting (they were here from Atlanta.) Oh it was awful. NEVER again.
Miami's best recommended?
Funny. We've been there several times and just once was it really loud. Thanks on teh Tuscano Grille. Todd loves risotto. That will have to be a must try next time we're back home.
Miami's best recommended?
Nor was I referring to young being equated with "hip"/seen and be seen. Just giving an observation of my experiences.
Never been there for lunch. I guess it depends on your definition of "Big-Shot." If you mean a bunch of business people trying way too hard, eh-I could care less. It seems being that it's in the Coral Gables business district that would probably be so. A lot of $40,000 a year millionaires trying too hard and a lot of millionaires trying to relate to the former...See that in South Tampa and back home on South Beach all the time...
I'm there for the meal. It doesn't matter to me who else is there as long as they're not loud or disruptive. Oh-and they don't smell.
St. Pete Beach / Tampa recs . Thanks & a follow up report
I'm going to disagree about never eating in hotels. Some of the best meals I've had around the world have been in hotels.
Not the best meal I've ever had, but Maritana Grill in the Don CeSar isn't half bad (though I wouldn't do a brunch there.)
St. Pete Beach / Tampa recs . Thanks & a follow up report
Sorry you had a bad experience. I honestly haven't heard of a lot of the places you went to. And, yep, Durango's is a chain. Apparently not a great one.
I am surprised you liked GrillSmith. We refuse to go back there. They couldn't cook my boyfriend's burger to save their lives! The fish was awful and all in all it was a bad experience. I am glad you had a good experience there, but for others reading just beware it could be a "hit or miss" kind of place.
Florida trip April 12-17
LOL it's so funny to read that-I went to high school at MAST Academy!
Jimbo's is great!
Where to eat in Cartagena?
There is a place that opened in Boca Grande that is called International something or other. I'm blanking on the name, but I'll try to remember. It's fairly new. Less than a few years old (I think.) Across the street from a popular pizza place. It's really trendy. Good place for small portions and some wine! You can sit indoors or out.
Where to eat in Cartagena?
Thanks for the recommendation on La Vitrola. I'm not familiar with it. (Unless...hmmm is it on the 2nd floor where you can dine on a balcony?) A definite must try next time I'm there! I'll have to ask my grandparents if they know it. :)
Barcelona list - so far
Cinc Sentis-excellent!
Moo-very trendy, cool sculptures on each table. It's a little trendy for the sake of being trendy, but the food is really good. Really cool bar area to hang out in after you finish dinner!
Expensive -- and other -- in Barcelona
(Copying and pasting from the other thread I posted this in.)
I've suggested all of these in other threads, and wouldn't suggest them unless we really liked them. Which we did! I have no complaints.
Expensive-If you want a place off the beaten path, Restaurant Magi Vinya Rosa is a great place to start. It's smaller, not much to look at, but divine! The chef was wonderful and so was his staff. The food was superb! Click on the square in the middle of the web page and that will take you to the rest of the website. You can print a map from the website to give to your driver too under "Ubicacion" at the bottom of the page.

Expensive-Trendy and hip with cool sculptures on each table. Moo at Hotel Omm. Great bar area to hang out in after you finish your dinner.
http://www.hotelomm.es/
Expensive-ABAC -definitely nice and upscale! We loved it. I'd choose this over Cinc Sentits because it felt more intimate to me even though it was a little larger. It wasn't as bright as Cinc Sentits which made it a little more romantic for us.
http://www.restaurantabac.com
Expensive-Cinc Sentits - If you did want to try it, it was awesome. The brother and sister who run it are really nice. It is small and somehwat intimate, but the tables aren't spaced too far away from each other. So if you get stuck next to a loud table you're SOL. We had a very loud family behind us and it sort of ruined the mood.
http://www.cincsentits.com
Moderate-A place to try for lunch if you get good weather is Bestial-close to the Hotel Arts-which is a Ritz Carlton. Grab a seat outside and look at the Mediterranean Sea while enjoying some great food.

Cheese in London?
Thank you, thank you! Really looking forward to it. I'll be sure to report my experiences when I return!
