georgetown suggestions for foodie new yorker coming to town
hi coming to town second week in novemeber. would eat any cuisine. usually i like ny's contemp american restaurants with market driven food, good chef etc etc. or other ideas are welcome..

1. yes forgot to mention good detail. they bought us a bottle of wine because of the wait. had a reservation, but waited 30 min.
2 molten cake yes (meant gooey),
3 wouldnt say overly tangy sauce on the sweet breads. i liked the texture. they firmed them but not overcooked with a nice bite.

scott bryans touch on apiary is tangible. whether one can stand the noise and trendy environment may be an issue to some, but the food is tight. briefly...
duck breast-fruit flavor crispy/moist great
bean and kale soup( i think kale)-hearty, lots of great little bites on the spoon
salad-my buddy had it. think had some frisee and other fres greens. nice vinaigrette
sweetbreads-almost tobasco-like sauce.. but it really worked
dessert- the ubiquitous choc. gooey center warm cake-great-great homemade vanilla ice cream
wine-nice bottle of shiraz(the wine program is said to be good. im not extensively in that game)
service-eh.. but thats ok with me it was fiine. they need to work a little on over booking and that kind of thing. but that doesnt bother me as much as others
overall i say a minus
Bar scene with great eats for Friday
wilfie and nell in west vill comes to mind. great review recently in ny mag. hope the menu agrees with you. the grilled cheese is worth price of admission. it looks like an ordinary menu, but the food is fresh and made with top ingredients. cozy atmosphere as well. as good as bar food gets in my view

its all about expectations. if you are in the mood for big portions that have little depth of flavor, but alot of heavy flavor.. then a place like carmines works....
For my vegetarian aunt, Hangawi or Franchia or others?
just ate at dirt candy which is real deal contemp. american veg. check out the menu and see if she may like. from a carniverore's perspective it was superb....

your thoughts ON ANY OR ALL. have read a little on bobo. very mixed actually. perhaps dependent upon when the post was written because of chef changes at bobo and apiary. i was a huge fan of veritas when scott bryan cooked there.i read that he is with apiary now..

i love the redhead for everything it stands for. good fresh, creative food, unprentious and friendly service. you'd probably miss the fact that it is serioius food if you were just paying attention to the environs.

i recently got a special order made of slider buns and hot dog rolls at blue ribbon market. its across the street from blue ribbon bakery on bedford. call them and theyll mke you a delicious special order of whatever you need.
