What do you think of Nigella?

Her husband did pass away several years ago and there was sort of a scandal about it because the English media said she was having a "blessed" affair with her current husband while her former husband was dying. Apparently, her former husband liked the current husband and allowed her to have this relationship. It was all very strange and new age.

Why are eggs so satisfying?

Eggs scrambled in butter with chives and goat cheese are one of the most delicious meals on the planet.

Also, eggs over medium over toast with the yolks pierced and pouring out...heaven!

I actually love the act of cooking eggs as well. It's so easy, anyone can do it, and eggs stay well in the fridge. I ALWAYS have one in a empty fridge crunch and I am always happy after I eat eggs ;)

Favorite Cheese?

Parmiggiano Reggiano and white cheddar. I could live on them.

Panera Bread ... any good?

I am a huge chain snob and almost never eat "fast food" but I absolutely CRAVE Panera. I eat there all the time for lunch. Their soups and salads are wonderful. I rarely get the sandwiches, but I've had the paninis and they are good. I am very surprised by the negative reviews above. For a fast lunch spot, this place is great!

What do you think of Nigella?

I started watching her when I was studying in England several years ago. She is a national treasure there. I loved her then and now, but my husband thinks she is too much. I actually do like her old shows better than her new ones. What do you guys think of her recipes?

Fry pans: what's the diff? stainless steel vs. nonstick vs. blue steel

I would go with a set of all clad stainless steel and one ten inch all clad non-stick. That is exactly what I have and I cook all of the things you mention. My one non-stick pan is perfect. You want the SS because of the terrific sear. Also, the all clad clean up so easily. I have one le creuset dutch oven and I love it. Easy clean up. It is heavy, but it makes me feel like I am cooking in my grandma's kitchen.

Morton's vs Ruth's Chris

I had the most amazing Prime Rib of my life at Mortons. I am a fan for life.

Best eats in Chapel Hill and Durham?

Magnolia Grill! It's terrific! The food was everything I expected--absolute perfection with a low key atmosphere. Not stuffy, but warm and inviting.

JUST BOUGHT A SHUN CHEF'S KNIFE

Globals and Shuns are the two I know. If you watch Food Network, Everyday Italian, Giada uses Globals, so you can see what they look like. I worked at Williams Sonoma and had the luxury of working with a variety of knives there before I bought my own. An absolute must is to hold all of the knives in your hand before you buy a brand. Do not go on look but on reputation for quality and feel in your hand. I have five knoves and that is absolutely all you need--no huge block full of ten knives. A bread serrated knife, a short serrated knife for tomatoes, etc., a pairing knife, and chef's knife--eight inches or so, and for me, a shorter vegetable knife. I have the Global 5 inch or so and I use it for everything!!

"Locals' Food" in Raleigh

FIns has actually closed.

The Farmers Market restaurant is the best meat and three in town, in fact, in the region. Hands down.

JUST BOUGHT A SHUN CHEF'S KNIFE

Shuns are fabulous. I have Globals and think they are terrific too. I am a woman with large hands and they feel great in my hands and never slip and cut a finger. Japenese knives are definitely superior in my book.

Holiday Menus In The RDU Triangle

I've had valentines dinner at Angus Barn two years in a row and it was terrific. They do a great job with service and the food is, as always, delicious. Also, you can bring your own bottle of wine and they charge a small corking fee ($10?). So, if you have a special bottle you've been saving, you can bring it for dinner.

Valentine's Day Dinner in the Triangle

I was able to get a reservation at Taverna Agora last week for anytime I wanted. It is a terrific great restaurant with excellent food and service and a very romantic restauarant. All of the heavy hitters are booked but this is an excellent choice and you will not be disappointed.

"Locals' Food" in Raleigh

I think Bella Monica is a GREAT place for Raleigh locals. It is the best kept secret in Raleigh. It's located in a shopping center but has great atmosphere and terrific italian food.

Greek Deli, Anyone?

There is a terrific mediteranean deli called Neomonde in downtown Raleigh. It's fabulous and located off of Hillsborough St. near the beltline exit.

One Meal In Raleigh - Near Downtown

I can't believe no one has suggested Fraziers. It is located on Hillsborough St. and is terrific. It is small and intimate with an oft-changed menu and excellent food, wine and service. Sullivans is nice but a chain and you should sample true Raleigh flavor with a local restuarant.
