Marin Rehearsal Dinner

I second Le Chalet Basque as a reasonably priced choice. Remember you are in one of the most expensive counties in the country. My wish is that you can savor these moments before your wedding and not get caught up in the details. Congratulations to you both .

DO NOT GO TO SPRUCE

Sorry. I, on the other hand, had very poor service at Harris' and superior service and food at Spruce.

best place to live for food near SF

L'appart Resto in San Anselmo and Marche Fleurs in Ross are two examples of excellent higher end restaurants within minutes of Fairfax. Fairfax does seem less expensive than most of Marin County but not sure that is still within your housing budget. Lots of ethnic food choices in Marin. Petaluma, Healdsburg, Cloverdale and Sebastopol are filled with fresh farmers market, wine country restaurants while Mendocino has more marijuana as well as cooler wet weather. I know this is not a real estate site so wont continue but San Simeon is a world ( So Cal) apart with which I am not familiar! Good Luck

San Fran Suggestions for dinner to celebrate in-laws' 40th anniversary

I second La Folie. It is an experience and very very fun. I have been to each one of the restaurants you mention and La Folie is a superb fit for the occasion if your in laws have not been there. How nice of you!

Bobby's Cafe - San Rafael

Oh no! Im sorry to learn this.

Looking for NYC-style steak in Bay Area

I vote for Ruth Chris' over Harris and Alexander's to be closer to meeting your needs.

Lunch near Ritz Carlton

Tadich is difficult to beat for pure San Francisco. Gets crowded at noon ( no reservations) but give your name at the bar and it moves pretty quickly . The petrale sole grilled is superior.
Or Scala's Bistro on Powell is excellent also.

Need recommendation for a special dinner in San Francisco

La Folie! And dont let the website menu fool you since it is dated. It will be a wonderful experience for you both.

Starting New Job in Sausalito. Lunch places?

You are one lucky person! Fred's coffee shop at 1917 Bridgeway is a homey diner type place with good burgers. They would probably fix to -go orders?

(I dont know why Bridgeway cafe came up on my post)

Visiting SF with 3 "food obsessed" daughters in May.

La Folie and I think you can even walk there from your B and B. Take a 6pm reservation. Your girls will be delighted. It is an experience and, like its name, very fun. I dont want to write any further about it so as to spoil the surprise.

Airport food: SFO or SEA?

Absolutely no comparison between the two airports. Go to SFO International terminal which has two different dining areas. You will not regret going to Burger Joint as well as Emporio Rulli or other ethnic cafes Then you can go to the Museum of Modern Art shop afterwards.

Looking for a recommendation for a hip dinner spot near the Four Seasons in San Francisco

Walk anyway but west to Zuni. That walk is not healthy. Go north to Scala's on Powell, east to those already mentioned and also Town Hall or southeast to Orson or Fringale .

Solo Diner in San Francisco - where to eat?

Tadich Grill on California St. The grill is fixed and the cioppino and petrale sole are better than ever.

Walking distance from Larkspur Landing?

Take a cab to Pier 15 in San Rafael, a 5 minute ride but worth it.

Best Mexican in Marin County

Try Pancho Villa's on Sir Francis Drake Blvd just on the San Anselmo/Fairfax border. Their chile rellenos, guacamole, chips, salsa verde are superior as are the cheese enchiladas. The service and ambiance are also consistently good.

Dinner between Santa Cruz and SF-suggestions?

www.duartestavern.com definitely fits your non-pretentious criteria and a feeling of away from the City!. Check it out.

High-end Peninsula brunch ideas?

maderasandhill.com is at the Rosewood Resort at the 280 Sand Hill Road interchange. Fabulous ambience. Of course since it is owned by Stanford University, what else could one expect.

High-end Peninsula brunch ideas?

Madera is elegant but to me, elegant and young kids seem to be mutually exclusive!

San Rafael?

Pier 15 for breakfast. ( East Francisco blvd turn at Mazda dealership)
Pancho Villa ( Sir Francis Drake in Fairfax for dinner)
Chateau Basque ( San Pedro Rd)dinner
Fabrizio ( Magnolia in Larkspur)lunch or dinner
Bobbys diner ( 4th and E)

Union Square dinner suggestion for a group of 10-12 girls

See if Scala's could do a table for 12. Le Colonial is terrific ambience, but just may creep upward of that 50. per person quite easily unless you are aware. It is however a most memorable place to go.

Masa or Fleur de Lys?

What a terrific idea to forgo the gifts! Of the two, Masa's is best by far. Next time do La Folie!

Sunday Dinner - Mid Peninsula

Not on the menu but usually available is a NY Steak at Capellini's very well executed. If you decide to go, call first to see if they will have it

Lunch recs near Powell and Pine?

Scalas Bistro is a few blocks down the hill. Check out www.scalasbistro.com to see if it is to your liking.

In SF for a Sat evening and want a fantastic dinner!

I second La Folie . It is best to not try to describe the experience ahead of time lest one spoil the ' fun'. Hence the name La Folie!

The Gift of Dinner in Russian Hill

What a lovely gift!! I second www.1550hyde.com

Wedding dinner question

I was just at a wedding where a printed menu was presented at each place. Each person was greeted by a waiter and asked if there were any dietary restrictions and , if so, that person was served a different item prearranged by the host ahead of time with the restaurant. . I think if you arrange with a good restaurant ahead of time, that is the way to do it. Your 'vegetarians' would be served a non meat dish ( not necessarily of their own choosing, but hey, they do not have to eat it) I watched Martha Stewart even say that she no longer goes to great lengths to please guest dietary restrictions and even she said that they do not have to eat it. Not that you would have it there, but call Tommy Toys and ask them what they do. Its about celebrating a marriage ,so have fun with it and do it your own way! Congratulations

La Folie or Fleur De lys?

No question: La Folie
( the website menu gives you an idea, but is dated. For example instead of lamb loin, I just had rib lamb chops which were heavenly but it isn't even about the menu but rather the combination of service, ambience and of course the cuisine)

restaurant in the marina

Could you possibly cross Van Ness and go to La Folie on Polk.? It is practically in the Marina and very FUN as its name suggests. Lots of amuse buches and warm service in nice ambience.

Madera Rosewood (Menlo) - how is the food/atmosphere there?

I have had two lovely experiences both at lunch. The service and ambience were a ten. The food is excellent depending on your likes. I would suggest you check out the online menu. The only thing is to request tap water rather than the bottle they bring as I paid more than my monthly water bill for it. Still I will go back. Happy Birthday

Looking for mini cupcakes for kids, as little sugar as possible, upper to lower Peninsula

I second the whole foods suggestion. They have 12 packs for 3.99 and they are 11.99 elsewhere.
