Bangane on Northern and 165th

Looks like it but can't be sure. I do know that one of the writers seems to follow the places that I go to and review on Yelp. ?!?

Mama Meena's in Woodhaven--Philipino ?

I've been there several times. Food is very homey. I like it better than the filipino places in Woodside... although Tito Rad's comes pretty close.

Gu Xiang – Still Serving Good Home Style Taiwanese Food

Love this place!

What is the best place to eat in Jackson Heights?

Bf and I like their fish chili and shrimp coriander garlic there.

Bangane on Northern and 165th

I went back for the Kimchi and Goat Stew. Thanks again for the suggestion - so good!

ayada

Lately when I've been ordering from there, i ask them to make the food less salty and less oily. They will adjust it for you - you just have to tell them. =)

Payag

Good to know. I've heard some things about this place but never had a chance to go yet!

Ayada Thai featured on 7 online neighborhood eats

Love this place! I do find sometimes that their dishes may be a tad bit too salty... but the flavor is always there. :) It's my go to Thai in the area.

Flushing Tour

Great list! Thanks for sharing.

Jong Ga BBQ Restaurant - one of the best Korean restaurants in Flushing

Good deal! I'm bookmarking this place. Will report on findings when I go.

Jang Tur Noodles - Korean noodle soup

E Eto - thanks for recommending Jang Tur. Bf and I made it out today... gosh darn, those hand cut noodles are awesome.

I remember reading on another thread that they didn't have an English menu. Good news!! Bf and I got a newly printed English menu today.

Pictures of what we ate are posted here:

Flushing restaurant recommendations

I actually always drive into Flushing. All you have to do is park above Northern Blvd and then walk south to Downtown Flushing.

Bangane on Northern and 165th

Definitely did not see that thread. Good to know. Thanks.

Bangane on Northern and 165th

Great to hear. There was a Chow newsletter that went out and it also did mention that there were several iterations. We got the 1 person version where they cooked it for you back in the kitchen and bring it out. Good to hear about the jungol version.

Wondering - did you like their kimchi?

Joe - did you go try the Goat Stew? Wondering on your thoughts... :) Please share if you have gone!

Portofino in Forest Hills Dilemma

Agree with EricMM. I got a pasta dish last time and remembered that it was good... wasn't outstanding, but I didn't hate it. Definitely far from the worst. Pretty decent for Queens...

Italian / Halal (Olive Tree)

My bf and I tried this new Italian / Halal place recently after reading a post on the Hungry Muslim - http://www.hungrymuslim.com/2010/01/olive-tree/

Really enjoyed their Zuppa Toscana, Smoked Salmon Pasta special, and Banana Fritters. Their Char Grilled Pepper Chicken was also pretty good. Worth a trip!

Went to go try Bangane this weekend... and it was awesome. The Goat Stew & the Kimchi are awesome. Worth a visit.

Latest on Himalayan food in/near Jackson Heights?

Good to hear! I like their momos.

Sripraphai was Horrible -- Need a new 'go to' Thai restaurant

Agreed with E Eto. Ayada or Zabb.

First Visit to Flushing

Thanks, scoopG. Great links!

CURRY POINT[new sunnyside]

Finally made it down to Curry Point Halal Grill.

My bf and I ordered the following:

1) Garlic Naan - really good and super fresh - must get! While we were eating there, I noticed 2 other customers going into the place just to get naan for takeout.

2) Chapli Kabab - Ground Chicken mixed with Spices and Fried (Khyberi Style) - It was a bit greasy on top, so I patted it down with a napkin before we started eating. The kabab wasn't on stick as expected but was served looking like a thin chicken burger patty. (See picture). Anyway, it was REALLY good. Definitely a must get!

3) Beef Kofta (Ground Meat Balls in Sauce) - the beef balls were really fresh. The sauce was very well spiced. It was a bit too salty though, so it was a bit too overpowering. Otherwise, very good! Definitely will get this dish next time too!

4) Chicken Karahi (White Meat Chicken w. Fresh Tomatoes, Green Chillies, Ginger, and Spicy Herbs) - sauce tasted with pretty good spices; although it was entirely too salty. This dish was probably the most salty among everything we ordered. I would recommend this dish if it wasn't so salty. I liked the spices used in the sauce otherwise.

5) Chicken Tikka Masala (White Meat Chicken in Buttery Sauce with Fresh Herbs and Spices) - This was just OK to me. My favorite dish of all time is Chicken Makhani or Chicken Tikka Masala. I always order either of the two dishes and usually judge a place by how this particular dish is. This plate here fell a bit short of my expectations. As odd as it would sound, I would actually recommend that this plate needs butter.

Everything was nicely priced around $6 to $8 per entree! My bf and I would definitely return again to this place for the Garlic Naan, Chapli Kabab, and Beef Kofta. The Chicken Karahi, I might get again, but specifically request it to be less salty.

Goan food in Queens?

Not really educated on Goan food... but I did get a dish called Goan Fish Curry which included Tamarind & Coconut Milk in Organic Herbs.

Valentines Day Dinner in Queens?

I went to Uncle Peter's several years ago and enjoyed it.

Roosevelt Ave from Sunnyside to Flushing

Sadly... Khan's is not there anymore. Sammy's bought them over a little while ago, so my bf and I have forced to eat at Sammy's. Sammy's, however, did adopt the rice recipe from Khan's... but the rice has recently become very salty.

Spicy Mina? Am i missing something

My bf and I have gone to Spicy Mina several times. It's really a hit or miss.. guess it depends on if Mina herself is there or not.

Thai Son Vietnamese Cuisine Jackson Heights

The service at this place seems to have gone downhill. I've had several occasions where they've hung up on me when I'm placing an order because "they can't hear me". I've never had a problem ordering anywhere else on the phone.

Thai Son Vietnamese Cuisine Jackson Heights

No idea why. All the vietnamese places I tried in NYC all use lemon. My ex-roomie from Boston brings her own lime whenever she gets pho. She can't stand using lemons. Hehe.
