San Diego Places where the wait is baffling.
May I add: Hodad's. It's two blocks from me and I've rarely seen it open without a line wrapped around.
San Diego/Ocean Beach nachos
We've always been a fan of the nachos at the cafe on the pier! It's a tradition for us.
Cuban sandwiches, baked goods in Ocean Beach
As soon as I read the words "meat" and "pies" together I had to go! It's a few blocks from me and I stopped in on a sunny afternoon. Everyone who worked there greeted me immediately and was extremely friendly. There were samples abound and despite my claim not to have a sweet tooth, I found them incredible!
I got two "pastel de carne" meat pies and one ham croquette. I wasn't crazy about the ham croquette but the meat pies knocked me off my feet! After biting into the first one I told my friend, "These should almost be illegal..." They are incredible!! I think "moderation" will be important for me to remember when I eat these. They're delicious but surprisingly heavy. Beware of the Meat Pie Coma!

Mmmmmmm, Beach Club! My favorite! I'm going to miss this too when I move to San Diego!!!
what is it about white castle
I tried WC a few years ago and since then have become somewhat of a closet addict. I'm moving to San Diego where I can get all the In 'N Out and Jack in the Box tacos, but my heart will be mourning my White Castle cheeseburgers and jalapeno cheeseburgers!
Noodles in San Diego
Noodle Town is my recommendation for GREAT Korean noodles. Try the noodles with black bean sauce (jja jang myun), the spicy seafood noodles (jjampong), the arrowroot cold noodles (mool naeng myun), the cold noodles with spicy pepper paste (bi bim naeng myun)... or just try all their noodles. I'm yet to be disappointed. However, be prepared to do a lot of pointing on the menu if you don't speak any Korean.

Minneapolis: A Very Disappointing Trip To Rainbow Chinese
Second that one, the food is incredible there. Rainbow Chinese would be one of my last picks on Eat Street.
Korean in St. Paul and Minneapolis
Don't you dare let your omma know that!
It's quite hit or miss here, I think. I am yet to be impressed with Kum Gang San (formerly Shilla) and their prices seem ridiculous. I haven't been impressed with King's, but I will go down to Hoban since it's right down the street. I also like Mirror of Korea. *Don't* go to Hoban for chap chae... the chap chae at Mirror is much better. Do go to Hoban if you want dolsot bibimbap!
Mcdonald's regional menus - McLobster Roll etc
In Hawaii they also have a fried taro root pie, which isn't bad!

I love Jimmy Johns! I'm moving to San Diego this summer and will be missing it (along with my other non-foodie cravings) when I move. There's one in St. Paul I stop by after class on my way home and I'm yet to try one I don't like.
Solo dining in MSP
If you like hole in the wall places with amazing Asian food, I would recommend Evergreen Taiwanese. They have yet to disappoint me.
Dumpling Inn SD: What's your favorite dish?
My favorites have been the vegetable noodle soup with the HOMEMADE noodles (you have to ask for them and they are AMAZING) and the dan dan noodles. And of course, the pork and chive jiaozi. I like the dumpling skin thicker!
MSP-Kimchee
I would suggest going to United Noodle in Minneapolis or Kim's Oriental Market in St. Paul. I've been jaded by my mother's kimchi in Korea and nothing tastes nearly as good. I've tried the stuff from the chain grocery stores and I have to give them a big thumbs down.

Horray for hangook saram on Chowhound!! :)
I've watched my omma and my eemo cook, while trying to pick up a few pointers. They go by taste and color, and therefore so do I!
Eagan, MN - New Russian Market Alert (and other openings)
Just found this:

Eagan, MN - New Russian Market Alert (and other openings)
Thanks for the heads up, I think I'll head there tomorrow to see what they have! :)
My favorite fast food breakfast is at
There's something to be said about the bacon, egg, and cheese McGriddle sandwich from McDonald's. Mostly along the lines of, "Good GOD that's delicious."
McDonald's fried apple pie [Moved from L.A. board]
Ohhhhhh, I LOVE these! They have fried taro pies in Hawaii and I had one of those a couple years ago, but I haven't had a fried apple pie in the states for YEARS!
IHOP - pumpkin, carrot cake and cheesecake "pancakes"
Stay away from the "cheese crepes". I was hoping for a variety of cheeses, as they had promised, but they were filled with cottage cheese only and the generic strawberry sauce. My partner had the chicken and veggie crepes and they were delicious, though.
I'm dying to try IHOP's pumpkin pancakes!
Has anyone tried the new corn ones yet?
Admit it... There's Some Dishes at Chain Restaurants You Like
Try a cheeseburger there (if you like cheese). Then report back. To me, they taste like little meatloaves! :)
Admit it... There's Some Dishes at Chain Restaurants You Like
Amen, Podunkboy. On that note, here are some of the embarrassing chain cravings that have been known to keep me up at night:
Taco Bell: cheesy gordita crunch
Red Lobster: shrimp scampi (*swimming* in butter!)
White Castle: cheeseburgers and jalapeno cheeseburgers
Arby's: giant roast beef with swiss (there's nothing "roast beef" or "swiss" about it, really...)
Pizza Hut: deep dish pizza
Wendy's: Big Bacon Classic
Perkin's: Granny's Country Omelette (with pancakes), and the Country Club Melt (with extra thousand island to dip the fries in!)
Old Spaghetti Factory: 50/50 with Mizithra Cheese and Meat Sauce
Noodles & Co: Wisconsin Mac' and Cheese (with broccoli)
Quizno's: Italian sub
Oh dear.
Byerly's grocery store - anyone have one near them?
We have one right down the street. I'm embarrassed to say that I'm somewhat addicted to their made-to-order sushi. The spicy shrimp rolls (dynamite rolls) are insanely good!
I remember when I was a kid, I LOVED going there because of the carts they had. They were SO MUCH FUN to ride around in! Right on ground level, next the carpet. :)
